His House
(2020)

Suspenseful, creepy, but also thought-provoking
I didn't know anything about this movie, and wasn't even sure what to expect given the trailer. I guess somewhat reminiscent of Get Out, this film enabled me to build empathy towards folks from different backgrounds, circumstances, and life choices ... while also keeping me on the edge of my seat with creepy scenes.

Great action; ok story
I was really into watching this. Great acting, scenery, suspenseful fight and chase scenes. At the end, was left with a handful of questions ... couldn't connect many of the dots.

Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood
(2019)

Enjoyable albeit long
I enjoyed the acting, the story, and chronology, with a satisfying twist.

Ethics, poverty, and suspense
I managed to not know much about this before watching. Was genuinely surprised by a few plot twists, and was at the edge of my seat or holding my breath for many moments, with many laughs at the believable absurdity in between. In the end, I felt this was a thought-provoking commentary on the desperation and feelings of being trapped experienced by many in poverty.

A short that sticks with you
Stumbled upon this on the airplane. Most memorable film per minute of anything I've watched in years. Cleverly and efficiently done. The redneck racists were complex enough to show genuine love inside their family circles, such that the violent toll and repercussions of unfounded prejudice is extra uncomfortable for the viewer.

Jusqu'au déclin
(2020)

Thought-provoking thriller in the Canadian wilderness
While a short movie, a couple of the main characters were dynamic enough that the viewer is challenged to wonder what he/she would do, what the outcomes could be, and also to zoom out and question the appropriate lengths one should go to in order to be prepared for the zombie apocalypse.

Light of My Life
(2019)

Depressing plot with protagonists worth rooting for
Engaging movie overall, likeable and believable protagonists, nice scenery (for outdoor lovers), with moments of funny awkward, unfortunate and repulsive, and positive loving sides of humanity.
