Violent Night
(2022)

Good idea. Horrible execution.
I loved the idea of having a badass Santa trying to save the day and all the scenes with David Harbour (Santa) . And that's about it.

Most of the dialogues and plot lines were extremely cheesy and cliche. I found the acting of the rest of the cast very poor and cringy, the script was very repetitive (how many "I believe in you Santa" can you squeeze into one movie; well take that and triple it).

In summary, +1 for the attempt to differentiate from traditional Christmas movies; the whole concept of seeing Santa beating people up while dropping cheesy Xmas lines is indeed entertaining +1 for David Harbour who portrayed Santa +1 for the production.

Katherine's Lullaby
(2020)

The dad's performance is unreal!
A character-driven psychological thriller with a brilliant ending! The lead actors had a great chemistry, but to me the guy who played the Dad was exceptional. He'll make you sympathize with the "villain". Overall it's a very entertaining watch for the genre fans and way deeper than what it might look on the surface!!!

Brawl in Cell Block 99
(2017)

Vince Vaughn at his best!!!
This is an Action Drama made with mastery! The script is very well-written, with lots of witty lines and enough plot twists to keep you engaged throughout the entire movie. The story evolves at a great pace and so does the main character, and the action scenes come at a great frequency without diverging the audience from the dramatic theme of the movie.

Vince Vaughn's performance is exceptional in this movie, and tbh I've never seen him perform this well!

My friend you just discovered a hidden gem... enjoy it!!!

Room
(2015)

There's plenty of room in hell for all the haters!
Room is about the psychological journey of an abducted girl and her 5-year-old boy, who spend years kept in a room without any interactions with real-world but the girl's abductor.

Expect to
  • be thrilled
  • get touched
  • feel uncomfortable
  • be amazed by the incredible acting, especially from the boy
  • think deep about the encrypted message of the story
  • give 10 stars
  • curse the haters

I simply envy you for not having seen Room yet! Enjoy!!!!

Stranger Than Fiction
(2006)

Brilliant Dialogues. Excellent Acting.
This movie has depth and the characters are very relatable. It'll most certainly make you think about your way of living life and confronting your worst enemy, yourself. And all this with a brush of humor and great acting!!!

ENJOY!

Eighth Grade
(2018)

NO story. BAD dialogues. HORRIBLE directing.
A shallow attempt to touch promising topics about the emotional chaos of an eighth-grader.

  • Trying to make the dialogues awkward does NOT necessarily make them real. In this case, it makes them vague, lacking of emotion.

  • Filling all of the empty scenes with music does not fix the pace of the movie, especially when the music is bad.

  • Earning prestigious awards does not necessarily make you a great director. The reality is objective, not biased. In fact, it makes me even more concerned about the different academies and festival giving out awards to pseudo-indie movies.

SAVE YOURSELF FROM THE PAIN!

Midsommar
(2019)

Deceivingly rational for the pseudo intellectuals
This is a movie about drugs, religion, grief, relationships, cults.... simply add whatever you think you can justify by picking one of the many long absurd scenes.

I was just wondering why did they chose those particular cultural references from Africa or Germany, and not any from ancient Greece for example? Why did the movie spend one hour "building" the characters and then focus only on the cultural traditions of the community? Why did they show so many scenes for those signs? The list of my why's is endless because this movie simply makes no sense! The movie has no logical structure, and if you asked me to accept this irrationality I'd say fair enough but at least don't make a movie whose underlying concept is "deceivingly rational".

Black Mirror: Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too
(2019)
Episode 3, Season 5

Horrible! This is not black mirror at all!
So disappointed! This is worse than a low 5 pg13 movie. It won't make you think even for a sec. Zero depth, and very cheesy. Don't waste your time. Or if you do, just make sure to leave a review... I hope the black mirror crew will consider these reviews as feedback for improvement!
