Dog Soldiers
(2002)

look! a cow just fell from the sky!!!
oh well, let's go to bed and think about it in the morning.

rubbish.

rubbish acting, rubbish effects, actors you want to slap, not scary, no thought in the storyline whatsoever, not even funny bad - just bad. doesn't deserve the title "b movie".

the fact we as a nation can appreciate a movie like this above "the hole" for example proves we don't deserve to have a film industry.

1/10

Lawnmower Man 2: Beyond Cyberspace
(1995)

Stupidly underrated
This movie may not be good and seem slightly 80's but it certainly doesn't deserve to be in the bottom 100. Some of the effects are pretty impressive despite what you read here and the acting is really not bad at all. There are far, far worse flicks out there.

I'd give it a 6/10.

Neighbours
(1985)

That's when good Neighbours become c-grade television
Like many I have watched Neighbours since it first started when I was a kid and although I watch it nearly every day it's sad to admit it is past it's peak. Things started going pear-shaped since around 2000 after we lost Billy, Anne, Lance, Sarah Beaumont, Amy and eventually Paul and Joel. There seemed to be a real feeling of fun and togetherness until these guys left and then it fell flat on it's arse. Then they bought in the Hancocks as a replacement. What a success that was! Thankfully they couldn't afford to stay and left but it still seems disintegrated and formulaic now with most of the cast seeming nice but characterless and all much the same. It also seems to be nearly exclusively filmed in the same places and during the day now which takes away somewhat from the atmosphere. Get some new writers please! Or at least bring out the late 90's episodes on DVD so we can reminisce of Billy & Anne's eventful camping trip, Paul and Harold's debut as the ear shattering Tuba Electrica, and games of cricket out on the street.

An Alan Smithee Film: Burn Hollywood Burn
(1997)

God awful
I love Eric Idle, I love Coolio and Chuck D, but I really really dislike this movie. A mishmash of celebrity cameos who collectively narrate possibly the most boring story ever told, albeit in a misleadingly fun manner.

eXistenZ
(1999)

Much underrated - excellent fun
eXistenZ came out at the same time as The Matrix over here and of the two this was by far my favourite. It has a sketched but fun "comic book" feel to it that keeps you hooked, and there seems to be an infinate number of possibilities that could happen at any point in the movie. The "pods" almost become a metaphor for the movie and you become the player. Watch it, you might love it!

Half Baked
(1998)

Not just a "stoner movie"
Never have 4 characters been so well cast in any comedy movie. As contradictive as it sounds, Thurgood, Scarface, Brian and Kenny are some of the least-believable yet believable characters I have seen.

The only reason this movie isn't down as a classic is because a lot of people have a lot of hangups when it comes to the evil green stuff or anything or anyone who mentions it. In actual fact if these people were paying attention it neither promotes nor discourages weed smoking. If you believe pot can be that enticing to people (in this case, 4 losers)you are mistaken and missing the point of the movie.. it's just a comedy and a far, far fetched story. Lighten up!

Hilarity from beginning to end, cool music, excellent/colourful photography, not a second of boredom from beginning to end.

10/10

Rush Hour
(1998)

What Modern James Bond Should Be
Rush Hour is great fun. Shiney cars, black suits, explosions, the evil guy and the good guy in distress, classy settings, tight action sequences. But what separates it from the million other similar movies is humour that thanks to both Chan and Tucker it's actually pretty funny and although far fetched, the cast make it seem somewhat believable. Definitely one to get on DVD and watch over and over. 8/10

Fun
(1994)

Excellent movie, Well worth hunting down
I thought this was an excellent film and I was surprised to find out how little-known it is. What's best about this movie is that it can be extremely disturbing and yet very believable at the same time. It shows what two minds are capable of when they become obsessed with each other. I would also have to say that there was nothing sexual about the girls relationship (as hinted at in the plot keywords). They just had an intense understanding of each other which allowed them to get dangerously close, but not sexual. Excellent acting, intense drama, I gave it an 8/10.

Return to Paradise
(1998)

Fantastic film, a classic
If you're into teenage jock movies or action-packed explosion movies then look away. This is an intelligent drama that will have your mind working without time for a break. Joaquin Phoenix's portrayal of Lewis goes from superb to breathtaking as the movie progresses. A number of twists and turns along the span of the movie makes it hard if not impossible to predict who will decide to do what next. Without wanting to give too much away, the tragic ending is directed without fault, leaving this a gut-wrenching masterpiece which will probably never get the credit it truly deserves.
