Watch Dogs 2
(2016)

Still a great game in 2019
I would argue that "Watch Dogs 2" is one of the best open world games to pick up at the moment. Despite the terribly disappointing launch of "Watch Dogs" the sequel makes huge improvements to the overall game.

One thing I have always adored in watch dogs is the hacking and this game does that perfectly. Every single hack feels relevant in a way and can be used to finish the mission your way. If you want to go guns blazing but find you need to retreat there is a mass com disruptor hack to let you flee. Or want to take it stealth, you can distract enemies using their phones to pick them of one by one. As well with the addition of drones and RCs, the game has a whole new area of driving around a little robot to go hack the enemies form a safe distance or even to give support for a team mate.

Another thing I really enjoyed about the game were the missions with each character, well, having a character. Wrench being the Deadpool of the game and wanting to destroy everything. Sitara being the graffiti artist and media worker. Josh the awkward kid that has his skills in coding and other areas. Horatio, with not enough character development and a rushed death, had his quirks. As well as ray who seems like the old man in the group and well acquainted with the past.

The level design, despite the hacking puzzles that are thrown at you every two missions or so, is unique every time with there own story that really can actually interest unlike the ones in the first one did for me. And many of the missions are challenging especially on higher harder difficulties but don't feel impossible.

The multiplayer was slightly improved although if you have played the first game then you already know what it will be like.

Although one place I think the game truly shines is map design. The maps, although rather small, feel open and expansive yet memorable enough that if you revisit the you will think to yourself' "Hey I went here for that one mission". Combined with the way the NPCs react and interact with each other as well as the player makes the world truly come to life compared to other open world games like "GTA V", "Red Dead Redemption 2" and "Assassins creed Odyssey".

All in all I think of the game as I must have even in 2019 especially as you can often get the gold edition with many of the DLC's for the game for about £16.00 on sale (which it is often).

Halo 5: Guardians
(2015)

Not a good Halo game.
Although the multiplayer had some very good parts (more later), the campaign was lacking entirely from being anything close to ok and did not even feel like a Halo game. The entire campaign was just constant chatter on radios describing things that you could already see, like the game was seeing the player as two years old. The music was uninspired and just lacked the greatness that the original bungie games, and maybe even halo 4, had. Adding insult to injury the heart breaking ending in halo 4 was just thrown out the window as in the first cutscene you see Halsey bring Cortana back to life. As well you are just left on a cliff hanger ending that makes you wonder what you just played through and whether it was worth your time.

On the bright side, multiplayer as well as forge were in my opinion were a great improvement from halo 4. Gone are the pre-set loadouts form halo 4 now coming back to a more traditional halo fashion. The forge was brilliant adding much needed features to the game, and the custom games-that the game has an endless supply-of is great fun with friend or even strangers on the customs browser. As well many of the original game modes like infection feel nicely polished and are great fun to play in your free time. Although one aspect I don't like is the advanced mobility features which made map design weird for a Halo game as well as most fights being won because one players was in a thrust or clamber animation.

All in all in 2019 the game for about £8.00 is worth it for the multiplayer features especially if your looking for a game just to mess around on with friends, although the story and lore aspect is not worth your money as your probably get out as much if you just watched a playthrough. Bare in mind I did not look into customization, microtransactions and many more problems with the game to not make this review drag. 6/10, good multiplayer and forge-terrible campaign.
