An excellent and funny coming of age fantasy adventure that strategically combines some of the best ingredients: a buddy story, supernatural beings and epic fights
Positive:
perfect for all ages
refreshing story of two individuals who find their place in the world together
original mix of different well-known stories and concepts
Starts leisurely, but explodes into a peerless action spectacle towards the end
Positive:
breathtaking action choreography (fast-paced and spectacular fights in anime style that still don't seem unrealistic, including original techniques and sets)
besides the action you will also be faced with tragedy, anger, despair, loss and and inner conflicts
Negative:
flat and clumsy script that makes the film too long and very slow-moving at the beginning
no serious character expression apart from Kenshin (the characters look blank if you haven't seen the predecessors)
Epic and excellently staged superhero film, but using the usual MCU scheme does more harm than good
Positive:
gripping action scenes
impressive backdrops and breathtaking images
immediately emotional despite numerous new heroes
refreshing dramaturgy with clever twists and no typical CGI orgy as a finale
Negative:
the integration of MCU-typical humour and all sorts of allusions feels forced and wrong in addition to the epic narrative and spherical style. As a standalone film "Eternals" would have been more rounded.
Respect that the version was realized, but it's still an exhausting four-hour monster that actually doesn't benefit anyone except the few who demanded it
Positive:
great entertainment
thrilling superhero story that's taught like a great fairytale
new look, background stories, supporting characters and ending
enough backstory for every hero, so you can identify with them when they finally step onto the team pitch
Not only sexier and funnier, but also a better film than the first part - but anyone who has no interest in romantic drama anyway can stay away from this
Positive:
the sex is wilder than in the first film and conveys that they really want each other
in spite of a lot of drama, inbetween there's good mood and humour
Negative:
thanks to the constant back and forth between Tessa and Hardin and a lot of narrative idleness, the film drags on noticeably towards the end.
cleverly staged, so you can experience the disorientation of the protagonist
play with the question of what is reality
Vin Diesel at his best gives the film identity and charisma
heavy action sequences
futuristic gimmicks and special effects background
Negative:
tries to start its own superhero universe, but just recycles a lot of well-known elements
underdeveloped script that has no sense of character development, background story or emotions and instead serves dull action and thus does not exploit the potential of the interesting basic idea
the secondary characters appear flat
partly bad computer effects and too hectically cut scenes.
Depicts the injustices of the US judicial system and its killing system powerfully by showing the horror of death and how deeply prejudice and racism are rooted in society
A completely different film than its predecessor, but also exciting and dynamic
Positive:
well done
hard action
fantastic performances by Josh Brolin and Benicio del Toro
Negative:
gloomy-pessimistic mood. Sicario 2 is missing what made the first part: the breath of hope that Emily Blunt exudes in between all the violence and ruthlessness.
