Strike
(2017)

It's worth watching but...
I enjoyed the first case, but after that I started to find the female lead annoying and I really didn't feel any empathy towards her character. Who in real life walks around London like that, smiling at everyone?! I can't help but think they cast a lot (not all) of female leads for male viewers these days. Also what really bugged me was the fact that Strike has a prosthetic leg but the foot and ankle bend perfectly on some occasions when he's walking, and some of his acting is a little wooden in places. I'm very critical I know, but with a series like this I want to believe in the characters. A much better series is the Danish 'The Killing', if you don't mind subtitles.

Treadstone
(2019)

Ok if nothing else on tv!
I'm on about episode 5 I think... it's ok. It's not gripping though; it doesn't have you on the edge of your seat, and much of it is downright silly.

I find the main couple very annoying, especially the woman (doctor / paramedic or whatever she is) as she still manages to have time to put on make up during a huge crisis. Regarding the little 5'0" women fighting, I find that quite entertaining really. Bourne wasn't realistic in that respect either (men being thrown out of buildings etc and getting up)... these films are always like this, it's not meant to be realistic.

Another downside for me is there seems to be too much going on, around a number of characters, and I can't help thinking each scene is nicked from another show or film.

Watch it if there's nothing else on...

Jumanji: The Next Level
(2019)

Really enjoyable
I enjoyed the first two films, but found this the most surprisingly entertaining of all three. Without giving too much away, there are some clever little changes and additions to this sequel that make it really entertaining. The addition of Glover and DeVito was brilliant too, and the avatar characters do a great job of getting their characteristics right! Definitely worth a see.

The Dirty War on the National Health Service
(2019)

Worth watching
This film explains the history of the NHS and how it's slowly being privatised, something that's been happening since the late 1980s. Shocking footage of how private healthcare works (doesn't) in the USA. It's a warning to us in the UK.
