Nashville
(2012)

seasons 1-3 8 stars/ seasons 4 onward, 1 star.
The show was awesome with the first 3 seasons, i liked all the storylines. the main one being hayden/connie. the others i liked almost as well. when hayden left the show, due to real life problems, they tried to center the show around the other characters, and i really hated the direction it went in, on all the storylines. i especially hated the show tried to center on Lennon Stella, who in the first 3 seasons, was a really sweet story-line, turned into a typical bratty teenager, and furthermore, evidently she thought she was morphing into a kardashian, because she seemed extremely FAKE on the show, her acting skills, which seemed perfectly natural in the beginning, suddenly deteriorated because she was focusing instead of being natural to trying to act "cute" and "fake" like a kardashian. why the show drifted to this talentless "actress" is beyond me. i kept hoping the show would get better, but i had them all on dvd, so i would just fast forward thru most of it. when connie britton left as well, it REALLY went downhill. it really came down to that nobody could carry the show as well as when hayden/connie/jonathan were all on the show together. when hayden left, it declined terribly, and when connie left, it declined the rest of the way. by the time hayden came back, the show was crap, so it really couldnt get back to where it was when hayden had left. i hope the world stops trying to clone themselves to kardashians. it really isnt appealing. its very plastic. and unless you are a teenager, its very boring.

Flowers for Algernon
(2000)

great movie portrayal of the book i read in 1990 english class
I loved this book in high school, and recently i watched the original film version and was really disappointed, as it didnt reflect the book i remembered at all, and was really not a well acted movie at all. this is compounded by the fact that i had invited my mom over to watch it, and at the end, i said, "nevermind, that's not a reflection of how great the book was" (she hadnt read the book).

then i also watched this 2000 version today, and i bawled my eyes out, and it reflects my memory of the book and was very well acted, and i am going to make my mom watch this version now, because i know she will love this movie.

if you are reminiscing on the book you read years ago, you will relive it with watching this movie. if you've never read the book, then you will be able to enjoy the story with watching this movie. grab your kleenex!!!

kelli williams did a fantastic job as did matthew modine. i felt the beginning of the movie was fair, i would vote it as a 6, but it gets much better as it goes on. about the middle, i changed my vote to an 8, but by the end, i gave it a 10. so if it doesnt seem all that great in the beginning, keep watching, it gets better.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit
(1999)

as of 2018 nothing but liberal propaganda
Sad, because i've watched every episode of this show since it began, and has always been my favorite show. it's sad that this show has turned into a vehicle to spout of liberal agenda nonsense... wish shows would remember that half the population are conservatives, evidently they dont care and have clearly chosen a side... the wrong side. wont be watching anymore.

The Preacher's Wife
(1996)

Not good at all
I loved whitney in the bodyguard. I also love musical movies if its contemporary. I also love denzel. I am also a christian. Therefore i thought i would love this movie. Wow, what a disappointment. I didnt like whitneys acting in this at all. I also didnt like the storyline for denzel. The angel was supposed to help them but he falls in love with the wife??? Noooo. Not my cup of tea. Denzels acting in this was subpar. The husband and the mother were the only ones who had good acting in this, but not enough to carry the film. Boring movie.

Trapper John, M.D.
(1979)

watching in 2018.....just meh...and a very liberal show
Im a conservative, and in 2018 with political views getting further and further apart from the middle, i like watching older shows so i can drift back into the conservative good ol days.. this show is just a bunch of liberal preaching most of the time. Someone gets on their high horse, throws a tantrum, and complains on their uppity high horse attitude how close minded or awful everyone else is... Then of course, everyone sees the error of their ways and agrees with whoever was throwing the tantrum... I was like wow, what year is this show, its just like its 2018 all over again.and for the record, contrary to all the rest of the reviews, house is the best medical show, followed by e.r.

7th Heaven
(1996)

Condescending to true Christianity.
I wanted to like this show, after all, I'm a conservative who loves old fashioned shows like little house, the waltons, etc... The first season was OK, kinda lame at times though, like a little too brady bunch for me. But as i got into the second season, i was like, what kind of conservative family is this? Talking about "the universe" like new age stuff. The universe was created by god, the universe itself is not god!! Then the middle daughter meditating with her fingertips together. Then the episodes were starting to get preachy, not preachy as in religion, but preachy as in leftist politics.... Ummm isn't this supposed to be a conservative right-wing show??? It was like a bait and switch, or a mockery or something, but even though i had all the dvds, i stopped watching them... I don't need to be mocked, i get enough of that in real life!!! No thank you!!! Im mad that it was presented as a conservative Christian show! If i had kids, i would've let my kids watch this show thinking it was supportive of my views, but in fact, its Christian bashing!!! Junk!!

Saved by Grace
(2016)

Not believable, quit watching after 30 minutes
I love Christian movies. In fact, i prefer them. But i couldn't get into this movie at all. It didn't seem believable. The girl just talked and talked to a çomplete stranger, prying questions. Almost like a precocious child would do, except this was a young woman. And I'm supposed to believe this guy is just going to open up to this girl he doesn't even know. It was boring, far fetched, and not believable. Sorry.. there aren't many Christian movies that i don't finish, because even when it is low budget, they are usually believable and have a good Christian message...i prefer that, because i usually come away with something that strengthens my faith, and makes me feel good, but i Just couldn't make it through this one. I found myself fast forwarding it to see if it got any better, but it just appeared to be more and more dialogue from the 2 of them, nothing was happening, just talking talking talking, bla, blah, blah. Fail.

When Calls the Heart
(2014)

Slowest, dullest, most boring show
This show should never be compared to little house. Not even close. Not close to dr quinn either. It seems to be on the level for 12 year olds to watch, but then again, not really. What i mean by that is the romances are between 40-50 year olds, but the story lines are for 12 year olds... In other words, if this show is for adults like me, then the show shouldn't be so predictable, dull, and slow.. i love wholesome shows, but not slow, dull, boring and predictable. On the other hand, if this show is for 12 year olds, then why is there basically zero for the coming of age group?? It should be stuff like from the wonder years, like first young love, or like little house, with stories similar to laura, and nellie. The show is backward... Its got the level of 12 year olds but nothing for 12 year olds. And then the flip side, the romances are for adults but dumbed down to a 12 year old level.. simply put, the lead characters romance-- shouldn't be 30 years old, they should be 12 years old. Or if you want them to be for the adult audience, why have they dumbed it down? I liked the pilot movie, and season 1 was good, but season 2 sucks, and im not going to bother with season 3. Total fail. Yes bring back wholesome shows, for children, and for adults, but not this show... Think more along the lines of little house, dr quinn, and wonder years.

90 Minutes in Heaven
(2015)

not what i thought it would be
i'm a very devout Christian, so i like Christian movies. I did not like this one. firstly, i thought it would be about his 90 minutes in heaven.... it wasn't. secondly, there wasn't anything in it about Christianity at all, it was weak, without a message, and didn't reveal anything about heaven, other than he saw people he recognize and that they weren't in any pain..... those of us who are christians have already gathered as much when we read the bible, so i didn't care for this movie at all. it wasn't about heaven, and the storyline was boring. Christian movies that were really good were flywheel, facing the giants, passion of the Christ, god's not dead, jonathan sperry, but this one... i really wanted to like it, but no.

Criminal Minds
(2005)

used to be great, now, not so much
this was at one time in my top 3 favorite shows, but over the last 3 seasons, it has progressively declined. there is not the intensity and complexity that there used to be, and everyone is constantly consoling each other. it's turned very "brady bunch" and seems very unrealistic. like everyone has to be comforted and praised all the time like they are dealing with children with emotional problems or something. also, the cheesy corny constant flirting with garcia and morgan has always made me push fast forward. enough already, get a room. it's just lame. i keep watching, hoping it will return to what it once was, but it doesn't appear to be so. i doubt the show will last much longer, and i bet the ratings have declined in the last few years as well. one last point, they have "dumbed the show down" like that all of us have to be led around by the nose to be able to figure out what's going on. this used to be such a smart show. maybe they decided their target audience is different that what it used to be. but i say, for the first 3 seasons maybe even 5, there were few shows that were as good as criminal minds. this is no longer the case. its a shame that there is no intelligent TV on anymore. i guess they think everyone's mind has turned to jelly, and maybe they are right.

Person of Interest
(2011)

it's a good show for a younger audience.
this would be a good show to watch with your younger teen children. I am 42 and enjoy a smarter show, not to be necessarily led around the show to point every obvious detail out to me like i can't figure anything out for myself. But if you have younger children, I'd say this would be a great show to watch with them, they wouldn't get lost in what was going on. But if you enjoy a little mystery, a little suspense, a little "let's see if i can figure out what's going to happen", then i doubt you will like this show at all. everything is pointed out, and little is left to the imagination. oh and the sarcastic dry humor isn't funny at all. this show reminds me sort of scooby doo, you half way expect at the end for the villain to say "and i would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for those pesky kids". people who have likened it to something like the a-team or something, weren't mistaken. In fact, the more i think about it, i think there was more mystery and more surprise with scooby doo than this show. and i really wanted to like this show, i like jim caviezel and the other male lead, but the script they are given is very poor, the lines are terrible!!!!! (unless it is made for a younger audience).
