The Killer
(2023)

Just like a joke...
Oh no, you don't even know the main character's name and you don't find out anything about his past.

Doesn't matter.

All the better.

The film is interspersed with many, many voiceovers that show you the killer's precise and detailed way of thinking, only to then see how he repeatedly acts in completely the opposite way. He makes it clear that his hunt is not personal, but is a campaign of revenge that he triggers because he denigrates someone very close to him. He says he can't allow himself any empathy or compassion, but then he lets go of the person who was just begging for the well-being of his children.

When the killer murders, it is always very cold but also staged with great intensity and elegance. And when there's an action scene, it's filmed with such force, so thoroughly and so bitingly that I haven't seen a scene like this in a long time. In general, the film has a very slick and elegant look, which can also be said about the rest of the film's production, which for Fincher's standards also consists of a lot of Shaky Cam - but is always used to the best effect.

The same goes for the whole story - it just glides along, it just slides past you at an entertaining pace... with the necessary effect, of course. Everything is reduced to the bare essentials, nothing feels inflated in any way.

Towards the end you have the feeling that the tension actually decreases more and more, especially the showdown is actually quite anticlimactic compared to most action films or thrillers, but it fits so well as a contrast to the rest of the film and to Michael Fassbender's character.

And after the last shot before the credits roll, you get the feeling that "The Killer" functions like a deeply cynical and nihilistic joke that leaves you wondering what you just saw. Who were you watching, and isn't everything somehow irrelevant and meaningless in retrospect?

Very cool and great movie!

Das Lehrerzimmer
(2023)

Can't really understand the high praise
A special surrealism runs through the film because of the often radical behavior of the school towards the students. I often even had to think of Die Welle or 1984. In my opinion, the film fails to be a truly realistic study of the school environment.

The film generally aims for a very realistic production, almost documentary-like, which also makes it possible to show a (mostly) believable relationship between teacher and student, but does not manage to realistically portray the teachers and how they interact with each other. The dialogue is mostly so stilted and feels so fake, and the behavior of individual teachers is so naive and simple-minded that it was very difficult for me to empathize with the individual characters and especially with the main character. I also asked myself whether one should actually find the main character likeable, should exactly the opposite be the case, or should she only move in gray areas. I found you to be mostly the former. In general, you don't learn anything at all about the characters, what they are like, what experiences they may have had with students before, and how these experiences have shaped them. But since the dialogues are so flat and most of the scenes don't have the intensity that the film probably assumes they have, it quickly became very tiring and I had to smile about many of the discussions between the teachers because I often didn't even notice them seriouscould take.

The film definitely has its moments, especially in scenes that are left for a long time, which really have an impact. This very cold and oppressive atmosphere also worked very well. In some places the film also resembles a horror film (e.g. When the teachergoes to the school newspaper and is interviewed). Then, unfortunately, you are taken back by the unrealistic behavior of the - especially older - students, which seems extremely fake and you ask yourself, would students really talk to a teacher like that, would they even dare to have such a conversation?

And it is precisely this naive behavior and the lack of insight into the students and teachers that simply destroys the film for me, especially because this behavior leads to other key points later in the film and thus advances the story.

In short, it definitely has its moments, builds a good atmosphere, is well acted, but ultimately it's too bold and too simple for me.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods
(2023)

Feels Zynical
In the first scene, the film manages the perfect balance between old school horror and good kitschy suspense and a really serious threat.

After that, "Shazam 2" only manages to walk on this perfect level a few more times and mostly slides too much in one direction, which means that the film can often be very annoying and unfunny.

What I was wondering was if this movie makes fun of today's superhero movie trend - which is that superhero movies always have to be very funny and don't take themselves seriously at all - or if the movie really takes its humor seriously and thinks it's kinda like fun. I hope the former is the case, because "Shazam 2" is full of superhero clichés to the hilt, which, however, because they are so obvious, seem very cynical towards the superhero genre, which I liked very much, if, as I said, the former was the case is.

Roughly speaking, I liked the vibe between the troupes quite a lot, even if I was surprised how little screen time some characters had, I liked the old school soundtrack a lot and I thought the whole 80s horror interludes were well staged. And when the film has original ideas, such as the final battle at the stadium or the unicorn fight, where the creative side of director David F. Sandberg shines through, which also has some of James Gunn's style but falls far short of it, I felt well entertained.

But overall worth forgetting. I just hope the studio gives David F. Sandberg more creative freedom.

Glass Onion
(2022)

Fun but empty
In "Glass Onion" there is a moment in the first third very similar to the controversial throwaway lightsaber moment in "The Last Jedi" that suddenly flips all expectations of the film and causes the story to take an entirely new direction goes.

And then, after a long but entertaining first third, the film finally picks up speed and the mystery begins.

Unfortunately, the mystery puzzle in "Glass Onion" does very little with all the overdrawn characters that were initially introduced quite extensively and looking back it feels like many of the characters were completely unnecessary. Above all, the mystery that has to be solved in the course of the film was clearly too little and too simple for me. Nothing really made an impact, nothing was exciting, and nothing was tragic. So it also happens that you don't solve the puzzle at all, or you can't really solve the puzzle at all.

There's a certain playfulness to the location of the film and the immersion in the different characters to see different points of view and perspectives of them that's surprising here in contrast to the old Christie movies like Evil Under the Sun. Only very very little, although "Glass Onion" has the perfect conditions for it and there would have been many possibilities to create a rule-based feast of unreliable narrators and really let off steam on this futuristic island.

In general, the crime mystery in "Knives Out" is much nicer, more naturally structured, has really tragic and exciting moments in addition to the humor and has a more balanced structure than the second part, since the first also follows the classic whodunnit structure, and this onetakes a completely new path here, which causes the whole story to seem a bit shaky, and after the first direct impression, it was just too flat and simple for me, as already mentioned, and the important passages, such as e.g. Flashbacks that set up and explain the mystery worked through too quickly for me, even though they're the most important part of the story. I also found the ending to be rather unimaginative and rather dry.

But all of this has the advantage that "Glass Onion" can grow more over time and with possibly several rewatches, can mature more, quite the opposite of the 2019 film, which tends to decrease over time.

And so I like "Glass Onion" more and more over time and looking back it remains a very funny - if often a bit annoying - and overall very entertaining crime comedy, with a great cinematic staging that has the nostalgia of an old Agatha Christie adaptation up toof reasonable proportion and original enough to be respected and appreciated in the whodunnit field. The fun I had while watching is now more and more in the foreground and makes the whole film more and more for me and so I'm really looking forward to a second viewing.

Don't Worry Darling
(2022)

A "Get Out"-esque being would have had fit better
Weird movie.

In its statement it is both very clumsy and the complete opposite of what the film tries to say on the one hand.

A "Get Out"-like existence - in my opinion - would have done it much better.

The film fails in its introduction to the story.

We don't know what's going on in the world the characters are in anyway, and you really don't know anything about the characters, and unfortunately that stays that way throughout the film.

Characters are introduced very briefly, whose existence is made completely incomprehensible in some visions of the main character and later this character becomes very important, but you don't know what's going on in general anyway.

It's the same with the plot twist at the end, which is absolutely incomprehensible/unsatisfactory, makes all the actions that happen in the film seem unnecessary and is just so ugly that the film just completely loses you.

There is never any suspense either, instead the film feels more like a parody of the mystery genre.

And so "Dont Worry Darling" feels looking back very crippled and tangled up, although hardly anything happens anyway.

Quite the opposite of a "Twilight Zone" or "Black Mirror" episode.

Kærlighed for voksne
(2022)

Bad, last 20 minutes make it better
My God, why do these films always have to be so bad? And that's the bad thing about movies where it's hard to pinpoint exactly what's so bad in the first place.

Is it the dialogues, the unclear consequences of a conversation, the clichéd characters, the moment when a scene ends, characters that are too stupid, unrealistic subplots and unrealistic and incomprehensible character reactions to them, or the many stupid coincidences?

At least that's all I was wondering when I saw this Danish Netflix film.

At least he makes full use of all the points just listed.

Tension or drama never arises - you don't even begin to know who to sympathize with. The narrator of the story also feels only squeezed into the story to give it a greater philosophical character which it completely lacks.

The last 20 minutes are at least a lot clearer and better than the rest, but it doesn't help much either, since the rest of the movie led to those last minutes, and the rest is very bad.

Thor: Love and Thunder
(2022)

Another weary shrug
The film is funny, there are nice moments and Christian Bale fits the role perfectly. I actually like that the story is so simple and actually quite small (or at least that's how it comes across), but here it just feels so shoddy and puny as the movie seems so uneven tonally and so comically episodic to me that I watched it just don't like it. No death or fate has any effect here and that more or less subliminal message that kids can be strong if they believe in it (or whatever) doesn't come across here at all, just comes across unintentionally among all the slapstick jokesridiculous style created by the film's staging, below, as well as almost everything in Thor 4.

Obi-Wan Kenobi
(2022)

Our new shaky cam-star wars
Basically, the story tells nothing new and feels very empty. Above all, Obi-Wan as a character has almost none of the qualities that made him so likeable and superior to the others back then. Also, the writing of all six episodes just isn't great and never really feels complete. Too many individual, small logic holes and stupid situations that arise from incomprehensible and ridiculous actions of individual characters.

The shaky camera is also extremely annoying. Characters like Vader just can't be staged with a stylistic device like that, it's like two worlds colliding. Vader just looks cheap because of this wobbling.

All in all, the series definitely has its moments and it's probably a lot more fun to watch it in one go, since one episode 'always directly' follows the other.

And so, overall, "Obi-Wan Kenobi" is still good 'enough'.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part IV
(2022)
Episode 4, Season 1

Shaky cam Star Wars...
This bad episode isn't even remotely about Obi-Wan. Leia just gets freed again, so just a silly filler episode.

The whole series so far isn't even about Obi-Wan, it's just about rescuing Leia, who was kidnapped from her home in an absolutely ridiculous way.

Please clarify Obi-Wan's conflicts and how he deals with them.

Just let him talk and let him make important decisions himself. This series needs to be of greater importance.

The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 7: In the Name of Honor
(2022)
Episode 7, Season 1

Please Go Rodriguez!
Please don't ever let Robert Rodriguez do an action scene in the Star Wars universe again. I'm now firmly convinced that Rodriguez mainly just wants to stage some B-movie trash. The action is so sloppy and sluggish that you can feel free to pick up the pace. As Mando and Boba try to penetrate the shields of the robots , it just reminded me extremely of the original 60s Star Trek series, it looked so trashy and laughable. The Pykes are completely lame and not intimidating in any way, the townsfolk and this absolutely ridiculous biker gang is just sooo, **cringe**, annoying and inappropriate in every scene. Especially how they always cheer when such a Spider Destroyer Robot gets destroyed.. ., just idiotic. They're still at war at the time and stuff like that. Boba and Mando use their jetpacks times, oh my god! But Boba doesn't even get a single cool moment. If he the rancor rides is cut away straight away (but I hate that moment anyway), and if he shoots a little bit, it's only 0815 staged in a standard way. In addition, the final shot is about Mando and grogu spins off to Mandalorian season 3!!

At the end of the episode then Boba runs happily through the city, is respected and greeted by everyone. Beautiful The final boba shot then shows how happily the troupe consisting of Boba Fennec, the BikerGang and the Black Wookie are chatting and merry with each other. The squad could also be straight out of Alita Battle Angel so the entire episode 3 and the last one now feels like a prelude to Alita Battle Angel 2. Episode 5 and 6 are a prelude to mando s3 and the remaining episodes are then just some Boba Quark.

My conclusion to the series: The crippled little brother of The Mandalorian.

Catweazle
(2021)

Not worthy the original
Otto at least looks a bit like the 70s catweazle, but he still plays far too much as he always plays. Too much Otto-like. The sets look lovely though, the cast plays halfway well. The movie is mostly a kid's movie, and it's okay for that. Otherwise rather kitschy and clichéd.

Contratiempo
(2016)

One of the best crime-thrillers ever!
I've never been so focused on a movie! The first time I saw him, I was half asleep because I was so tired, but if you pay close attention, the film is a lot of fun! Very entertaining!

The camera is very quiet and there are many interesting camera settings, the picture looks nice - sometimes like in an advertisement - but it didn't bother me at all. The actors play well, there are thousands of twists and the film remains incredibly exciting from start to finish - especially at the end!

If you've seen the film before and know how it will end, then you can still watch the film a second or third time. You will always find small details. The second or third time you watch the film, it is probably not as much fun as the first time, but it is still worth it.

It's on Netflix.

Director's Trademarks: Edgar Wright
(2021)
Episode 2, Season 3

I love Edgar Wright
His style ist awesome. He is one in a kind. Hot fuzz is also one of my favorite movies ever!! Great director.

Army of the Dead
(2021)

Not bad!
Everything ist top. Its a High-Budget Horror-Action-heist Movie. Yes, there are some clishèes but that dosent matter here. Every Character makes fun. Music ist solid, the look ist awesome, and the CGI ist good too. The Movie isn't in any way boring or too long. Also one of the best Netflix Original Movies so far!

Great Job!

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
(2016)

One day they will love this movie
The film just has to mature and one day they will love him.

Seungriho
(2021)

interesting ideas but...
The film brings a few nice ideas. The CGI and the sound are pretty good too. Not better than the effects 5 years ago but not bad either. The dialogues are not really interesting but not too shallow either. The acting performances are ok. But some actors play very badly. Often the Chinese performers. I found Song Joong-Ki actually quite okay. The problem that I have with the film is that the film often feels like a student film, especially when music is played that doesn't actually fit into the scene. In addition, the film is way too long. 30 minutes less would not have hurt either. The film is a bit lengthy. All in all, the movie is OK with some interesting ideas.

Der Springteufel
(1974)

unexpectedly good
(ENGLISH): 'Der springteufel' is a short film from 1974 by Heinz Schirk with Dieter Hallervorden.

Hallervorden doesn't play a funny role here, but rather he plays a psychopath. He's looking for someone or a hitchhiker to see if someone will take him to Frankfurt. A doctor takes him. Dieter asks him a lot of funny questions and deliberately twists a lot. Sometime later, Dieter threatens the doctor and plays his psychological games with him.

The short film is quite cheap, but it doesn't worsen the film in any way, only on some camera helicopter trips the cinematography looks very confused and the camera is very crooked and shaky. Otherwise there is nothing more to say about cinematography. Dieter Hallervorden plays the psychopath very well and people buy it from him. Most of all, the dialogues are very well thought out and you listen eagerly. Mur such liked the ending very much. A very simple TV movie that is quite intense (not brutal) and does everything right.

Das Millionenspiel
(1970)

The real Truman Show
Great film and above all very exciting. Camera always calm and no wobble. Not much talk besides the moderator. Music wasn't special, but the movie is just a TV movie and that's why it's great. In the end I also liked the one shot where Lotz was shocked and lay on the stretcher at the end, holding the one million EUR envelope. You can see or understand the message of the film from this.

Wonder Woman 1984
(2020)

You have to imagine the movie really came out in the 80s
I liked WW84, although that is probably only because I currently prefer such shallow, old and funny films that can change again for the next and I want to see something brutal. WW84 has a completely different atmosphere than WW, you have to be aware of that. The film has a great soundtrack, the effects look good, the cinematography is very nice and the acting is also okay. Gal Gadot of course plays her role again in a classy and personable way. The movie doesn't have a lot of action and is more of a romance. For me that was sometimes a bit too much. When there is action, it is nicely presented and you can come along. Overall, the film is very calm, which - as I said above - I really like at the moment. I can understand many who were disappointed. I think the movie should be seen as a romance and easy comedy with suerheroes rather than the movie as a superhero movie. And please calm down with these aggressive reviews.

6 out of 10 stars.
