Rachel getting "something" I rarely take the time to post remarks on this board. But I visit thsi site often because I like movies. My wife and I were so anxious to see this movie.......we were really impressed with Anne Hathaway's prior works, especially in "The Devil Wears Prada"......and I won't fault her performance in this movie, but I will fault the movie, which I thought was a huge disaster. Why do some people in Hollywood continually insist to add useless controversy to their movies?? OK...a dis-functional family is no problem, but the filming, continuity, editing, and just plain weirdness of every situation made it virtually impossible to comprehend. I can understand that family problems, addiction, race-relations, and emotions can be effective ingredients to a movie....but to take them above and beyond by inserting weirdness at every corner is absurd. That wedding ceremony was simply awful..and a lot of other talented actors and actresses were simply bogged down by the terrible direction and lack of continuity. This movie sucked, plain and simple..so bad that I wouldn't waste a minute on seeing it again if and when it ever comes to cable..and knowing cable, they'll ram in down our throats incessantly.
