Too Slow!!
This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The movie is just too slow. Think Naked and Afraid XL meets National Geographic. If you turn your back to go pop popcorn or if you go to the bathroom, you may want to rewind the movie because there is a good chance that you would have missed all the action. The setting for the movie reminds me of the witch project movies from years ago. It's a couple that happens to take a trip to get away. While there, the couple have an interesting dynamic. That dynamic is the main past of the movie which is why I give this movie one star; if it's supposed to be a movie about surviving in the woods, let it be that.

Robert Frost Would be Proud
Think Stopping By the Woods on a Snowy Evening adapted for the big screen and for the fall season. The movie stars Jules as Jess who is a woman who has her whole life turned upside down just by being in the wrong place at the wrong time by a stranger named Sam. The movie is filled with twists and turns and lions and tigers and bears and ocean currents. This isn't your typical lifetime movie, in fact it isn't a lifetime movie at all. I watched it on Netflix for free which is one of the reasons i gave it such a good rating. The movie even has a character named Robert in it. This review just keeps getting better and better, just like the movie!

Lift
(2024)

Great Movie
I'm going to do something Katt Williams never would do and that is give Kevin Hart credit. Lift is a good movie. It starts out with an auction only to end with some trickery and surprises at the end. The way the movie ends, I get the sense that it could be a lift 2 if the team decides. The movie is full of action and wit, so you the time passes by. The cast is great and I'm excited about that because it features one of my favorite actresses in Gugu. Kevin Hart does pretty well in the movie as well. I encourage everyone to grab the family, make it a movie night with popcorn and enjoy the ride for an hour and a half. You'll thank me later.

The Folks
(2022)

Low budget Get Out Knock Off
I wasn't sure what this movie was until about the third quarter point and that's when it hit me; the writer and producer of this film wanted to create something in the Get Out Genre, it's just that they don't have the creativity or the mind of Mr. Jordan Peele. Keep trying. Maybe one day you'll get there. The acting is mid level. The boy is the best part of the movie. If you have time to waste or if you are a fan of one of the main characters, you should watch this film. Otherwise, you may be better off watching thursday night football or something else. Don't say i didn't try to warn you. Watch at your own risk.

Not so funny
I was looking forward to seeing this movie, but let me be the first to remind you that disappointments come from expectations. I wasn't sure what the plot was, the pace is semi slow, and the punchlines are hit and miss. Overall, it's not a very funny movie. I hope the actresses in the movie continue to get their opportunities, it's not their fault. Sometimes, those who make decisions are just out of touch, like the school board of an independent school district. It's not that kids can't learn, you just can't relate. Not sure if this was supposed to be Girl's Trip remixed or something else, but whatever it is, it's not funny.

The Last Shift
(2020)

Stereotypes & Second Chances
This is an excellent movie. The acting is good, but what really impressed me was the storylines. To merge the lives of an older white guy and a young black man as they work together, discussing & living life comes together beautifully on the screen. The movie is a reminder that those who know everything, know nothing. Try looking at life through the lens of someone else, even someone who sits across the table. You may find out that your lives are many years apart or you may find out that they are closer than you think. The last shift will have you thinking about where and why you spend time the places we do.

The Burial
(2023)

Should win an Award
This is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. The casting is great. The screenplay is great. Jamie Foxx & Tommy Lee & Journee really are exceptional in this movie. It also has a favorite of mine, Amanda Warren. You may remember her from the East New York show on cbs that was inexplicably canceled. This is what the movie is based on: Under a 1995 deal between Canada-based Loewen and the nation's largest association of African American churches, Johnson's church and its pastor also share a 6 percent commission for recruiting him to sell Loewen products. An additional 5 percent goes to the 8.5 million-member National Baptist Convention USA for its Christian Education Fund. And every congregant Johnson converts into a customer gets a 10 percent discount off Loewen's regular prices.

Needed a second seasonal
Think show needed a second season. Sometimes, people put too much emphasis on some nielsen rating. How does that determine what makes a good show? I personally feel this show was excellent. It had a good storyline and it was a show that addressed something that is a critical issue for people. What is the point of having diversity on television if they don't speak to the issue that matters? The writers should make up and get to writing season two. The staff is great. Gina Torres and crew act great. This isn't a direct spin off of suits, it is nice to see some cameos from the original series. You won't be disappointed.

Hypnotic
(2023)

Eh
Let me say I was initially looking forward to the movie. But after a few minutes, I left feeling disappointed. Overall, the movie is meh. The acting is ok; the plot is horrible. The writing is more spacey than Kevin. I'd rather play in a house of cards than watch this movie again. It's an hour and thirty minutes of my life that I will never get back. Ben Affleck hasn't been the same since the town. That was the last good movie he made. Best part of the movie is the cost since it was free to me. I hope you think twice before giving this movie a chance. It's just good enough to watch, but bad enough to hate.

Commit or Quit
(2022)

Good show
This is actually a good show. It's deserving of a second season, but I am not sure the networks will grant one; especially with the strike going on. While the title may seem harsh, it's appropriate because either we're going to commit to each other or call it off. No sense in wasting time. Judge Toler is the perfect host for this show too based on her ability to relate, give great advice, all while being entertaining and respectful. One line that she said during the season that stood out to me when I first heard it was when she mentioned that one of the reasons a couple on the show was having a hard time is because one of the partners in the relationship had found their lebron James prior to their current relationship. In other words, I'd you find the one early, it may make it hard to commit late because you'll be comparing everyone to that person and that's usually a no win situation.

Based on a True Story

Flight Attendant Knock Off
Kaley definitely has hit her stride with this niche. This show reminds me so much of the Flight Attendant, which had a great season one, so so season two. This show however, gets better every episode and is good as the first flight attendant. The cast is great. So if you are into these types of shows, you will enjoy this. The lady who plays the author is also a star. She really carries the show throughout different episodes. Based on a true story is found on Peacock. You may wonder if subscribing is worth it, but this show, love island, and a few others make it worth it right now to pay for. Only time will tell if there is a season two. If so, hope it doesn't fall flat like the flight attendant.

Sneakerella

Overall good movie
I actually like the movie. My daughter was watching it too, being instantly entertained. The movie follows the journey of a young man pursuing his dreams, while meeting a person of interest along the way. The only part of the movie i didn't like was all the singing. If you are looking for the next tyrese, please do it in a commercial and not a movie. In fact, there should be a rule that if a certain percentage of the movie is singing, it should be a musical and not a movie. The only person I can hear sing over and over is jazmine Sullivan. But Lexi underwood is a star! The cast is great. John Salley is like on his 3rd career. It's an overall good movie.

Class of '09
(2023)

The jury is still out
While I am normally a Brian Tyree Henry fan, something is a miss. Not with him, he's great as always, but with the show. Maybe it is because the last military show I watched ended quickly and badly and it scarred me to the point where I'm not a huge fan of the genre anymore. Blame Quantico. But I'm through episode two and so far, I'm left wondering if I will watch the remaining few episodes. The jury is still out. Maybe Brian needs a better supporting cast. It's hard being the lone wolf on a team by yourself. Ask Lebron. But I'm hoping it gets better because Brian is a master Actor and I enjoy watching him perform his craft.

Blindspotting
(2021)

If what the heck had cinematic visuals
When I watch this show, I literally have no idea what to expect. Outside of taking place in Oakland and who the stars are, I can't name any other thing that I am sure of. If what the heck needed to put to the screen, this show is it. To be honest, I didn't even watch the first season because I couldn't get into it. But I gave the second season a chance and it's something I watch regularly now. The beauty of the show is that it doesn't make sense. From one episode to the next, you are trying to figure it out. But you find yourself resonating with at least one of the characters and you follow their story until it ends.

Chloe stole the show
Chloe stole the show. This movie shows how talented she is, with an ability to act, sing, and dance like her mentor (Beyoncé). The movie is a journey through faith where the character Chloe plays has some trials and tribulations she must sort through. And just like many us, when we first turned the corner to get on the right track, we may have made a mistake or two. In this movie, Chloe stole the show. Literally. You have to watch the show yo catch it. But this is a good movie for the entire family. I also enjoyed the cameo appearances of some of the gospel greats of this era (Ms. Carr & Ms. Hawthorne). It's a movie that mirrors life. Broken people in search of a perfect God. Save the judgment for King Jesus.

How far would an obsessed fan go?
Donald Glover has done it again.. this show has an all star cast featuring Dominique Fishback, Chloe Bailey, and Damson Idris. Heck, even Billie Eilish makes an appearance. This show is based in Houston (nod to Beyoncé) which is funny because it is the hometown of a certain celebrity the show is based off of loosely. How far would an obsessed fan go? This show highlights what it looks like when you are part of one of those celebrity fan bases. Donald Glover has done it again with another show offering social commentary on the ways of the world. A plus. Good show. I know members of certain fan bases may not like it because this show reflects how you act.

Unprisoned
(2023)

Based on a true story
There are fewer life interruptions that can be as severe or as forceful as a parent returning home after being incarcerated for over 20 or 30 years. I love how Tracy says that she created this show for healing and not for the audience. She reminds us that art is cathartic, it's meant to allow one to process their humanity in a form that others can feel or see. This show is a great example of that. From the executive producers, the writers, the acting, this show is great. It's honest, transparent, thought provoking, and entertaining at the same time. Props to Tracy for sharing her story, Hulu for releasing it, and Kerry Washington and Delroy Lindo for putting their acting expertise on screen. Watch it!!

Kold x Windy

Addictive!!
This show is so good. I watched one episode and now I want to binge watch the whole thing. Sh'Kia Augustin is a star!!! No disrespect to any of the other actors or actresses in the show, they do their thing too, but it's clear she has the brightest star. The writing is good. It's got just enough action to keep you waiting for what is next, and the acting is solid. The show takes place in Chicago which is already a great look because we know how Chicago has influenced the culture over the years. From Jordan, Obama, Oprah, Common, Lupe, Kanye, Twista, Psychodrama, Do or Die, Snypaz, to the current drill scene, Chicago is a place of influence. Whether good or bad, you will find yourself watching every episode of this show! Props!!

Fantasy Football
(2022)

Fun for the whole family!
This is a great movie. From the writing to the cast, and even the musical selection, everyone deserves an A. For starters, I love featuring young women as part of stem theme. To see the young ladies work in robotics is a nice treat because science is a rewarding field or interest. Secondly, the concept of how video games mirror life comes to life in this movie; especially in the creative player mode as seen in the film. Lastly, the movie has a great storyline where you see the results of putting others before yourself. All in all, this is a great movie. I've watched it several times already and am sure you will do the same.

Something from Tiffany's
(2022)

Surprisingly Good
I wasn't familiar with Zoey, but I loved her in the movie. I was familiar with Kendrick because I watched one of the best shows ever to be on television called insecure. The movie starts off slow, and then all the action starts with a bang. The cast in this movie is great. There are some comedic moments throughout the movie to keep you laughing and on your toes. Zoey had a choice and the best man definitely won. I enjoyed this movie. It's only an hour and a half and it doesn't even seem that long because of the comedy and great acting. After you watch this, watch Best Man and your holiday weekend will definitely be one for the ages.

The Best Man: The Final Chapters
(2022)

Excellence on display
This is the kind of excellence I love to see from us! The cast, the chemistry, the final chapters. First, the idea to make it a series is great, instead of one movie, you get three! The storylines are great, full of all the twists and turns you expect from this crew. The first two episodes have a special guest who is a nice addition. The youth in the movie do a great job as well!! The final chapters leave you wanting more, but I believe we will get more. Without giving away the details, there is no way the show is going to end the way it did. I think the network wants to see how good it does, so go watch it. Tell your family, tell your friends, co-workers, church members, get these numbers up because this type of excellence isn't always on display!!

All American
(2018)

One of the best shows on TV
We don't get this type of content anymore, especially for certain demographics. But this show tells a story, the cast is great, and the show has depth. I've seen the characters grow, each actor or actress has their own story, and they have excelled in telling those stories This is absolutely one of the best shows on TV. If you are late to the party, catch up. You never know how things are going to turn out as this show is full of suspense and drama. But it's clean drama. No cussing. No stereotypical behavior being highlighted, just good clean family life played out on the screen. Well done by the writers, cast, and all involved.

61st Street
(2022)

This is an excellent show!
I binged watched this show over the thanksgiving holiday because it is that good! Courtney B Vance doesn't miss. It seems like most of what he does is always good. This show takes place in Chicago. So first off, the cinematography is amazing as you feel like you are in Chicago. Most people complaining are complaining because of the narrative, but this is something that happens in real life. I remember living in a southern city where cops used to plant stuff on people so they could charge a crime. And then the judge charges an outrageous bail so they are just another number in the system. Great show. AMC plus has a win.

Fleishman Is in Trouble
(2022)

The age difference is a problem
Normally, I am a huge Claire Danes fan. Don't get me wrong, she's great in this series like she is in every production she's in; but it is the age difference for me. Does anyone else find it weird or odd that her husband is literally old enough to be her son? At least that is how it seems. The other part that is somewhat annoying is the narration throughout the show.

That being said, it's a good show. I like it. It makes you think about relationships and ask questions like am I compromising too much? Am I too selfish? Is it the right love at the wrong time? Hulu has a hit and this show is good enough to subscribe for.
