Land
(2021)

Simple but Beautiful Film
If you feel like escaping into the wild and you love beautiful scenery, and are into films about personal relationships and grief, them this is the film for you. Great understated acting, and some tantalising mysteries that make you want to keep watching. Makes me want to live in a cabin in the woods except bears terrify me, and I live in Australia where bushfires or poisonous animals will probably get me, and I'm hopeless at chopping wood, so as a city slicker I guess I should stick to my nettle and settle for these types of films where I can enjoy the scenery from my living room and live vicariously through a camera lens.

The Sandman
(2022)

Hypnotic and philosophical
Setting aside some thankfully rare moments of unnecessary gratuitous violence, I quite enjoyed the hypnotic slow pace of this series and the variety of philosophical, sociological and pyschological themes covered. It felt very European including a number of stories that aren't formulaic meaning that you have no idea what the next episode has in store.

Excellente!
A great story with great acting, a very interesting modern twist on Christian mythology that doesn't shy away from exposing the social issues of contemporary Italy. Great viewing for Christians and non-Christians alike (but perhaps a bit violent for younger kids).

Great film
The first Phillipino film I've seen and one of the best films I've ever seen. A gripping story with great music and fascinating themes such as rampant police corruption, indigenous rights, and WW2 history.

The Water Man
(2020)

Great family film
Despite having a straight-forward story this film has a number of layers and interesting characters that makes it interesting for all ages.

Ragnarok

Beautiful vistas and fascinating characters
It is very refreshing to watch a superhero series that is not American, against a spectacular backdrop of Norwegian fjords and glaciers. Watch it in Norwegian with subtitles to get a better feel for the culture (they even speak Old Norse at times!). Hiking through Scandinavia has just been added to my bucket list :)
