All the Right Moves
(1983)

Tender but rough story about high school football
I saw this flick a few months ago and would rate it as a 3/5. Although the whole "trials and tribulations of smalltown high school football" thing has been played out a little the last twenty years, I still think that this film can stand on its own because of some heartfelt and rather convincing performances from its actors, particularly, Lea Thompson and Craig T. Nelson. Craig has mastered the art of playing the role of a coach and yes it is typecast but he does it better than anyone else can so I give the man props. Surprisingly, I remember feeling worried and almost half-convinced that Stef might not receive a scholarship and that the movie would end on a sad depressing note reminiscent of the condition of the town it happens in. However, Cruise does get his scholarship so all is well in football land.

Speaking of the football, this IS the reality of a small western PA town i am from Eastern ohio (10 mins from PA) and have seen this ssame type of attitude and spirit that an entire town can pay a team that gives them some hope and makes them feel like everyone can win even if it is vicariously through others. But what I really wanted to note on was the chemistry, accuracy and tenderness that was created between Cruise and Thompson during their "love scene" when they both lose their virginity. I thought it was so well done and sincere compared to similar scenes I have scene. It ranks among the best to show the vulnerability mixed with desire that this kind of moment possesses. Good but not great movie.

Outrageous Excitement & Candid Characters!
Wow, what can i say, i LOVE this movie. I've watched it several times, i own it. The characters are so magnified and bold, u can't help but stare at them in awe. There are so many great lines in this movie - it never leaves you bored or understimulated...well, with a borderline psycho/stripper/nympho and a trailer park full of fun how is that possible? I particularly enjoy the striking looks of Max Parrish--where is he since this movie?! And I am also a huge Sabra fan! She is the best. Ex.) "All I have to do is a few pornos, a few beaver shots in Hustler, and then i'll be like the BEST gymnastics instructor at your local YMCA!" ; "Come on titty-f*ck me u know you hate your mother!" Who couldn't love THAT?!!!! RENT THIS MOVIE, SUPPORT THIS MOVIE. Visit your local trailer park today and you will have acquired a newfound respect for its unique brand of culture.

It's Your Move
(1984)

This show is phenomenal. Never to be outdone. 80's at its Best!
I own all the episodes of this UNFORGETTABLE 80's show. I saw it once or twice when USA re-ran it in 92 and couldn't get it out of my mind so i desperately found a way to purchase it...long story. Anyway, Jason Bateman as Mathew Burton is a crafty, smart ass that (if I wasn't 4 years old when this show was out) would have been in love with! There's just something about those polo shirts and colored sweatshirts and that shady smile of his that turn me on! LOL, back to the rest of the cast....Eli (who i know on a personal basis) is an adorable clutz and also a great juxtaposition to Matt's conniving, shrewd ways. He is in love with Matt's big sis, the popular cheerleader/slut Julie, who is a cute 80's girl who gives her brother a run for his money with some petty fights and snide remarks. The mom, Caren Kaye, is rather flighty and unaware of her children's un-innocence but she has her place in the show and if Norman Lamb (Steve from married with children...another favorite show of mine!) loves her, than golly gee I love her too! Norman is also hilarious. Him and Matt carry out the greatest rivalry in television history--at least in this reviewer's opinion. In closing, let me just say, if you haven't seen the "Dregs of Humanity" episode, you haven't lived. "Bones lives in the fast lane."

Norman: "So how are the ladies?" Tombstone: "Who cares. They're just objects of lust. We cast them aside. We're THE DREGS!" enough said. BOW DOWN TO THIS (sniff sniff) ONE SEASON WONDER 80's GEM OF A SITCOM!!!to think they let trash like gimme a break, webster, etc go on for 5 seasons and "It's Your Move" gets shafted after one...what a sick and twisted world we live in!
