Spider-Man
(2002)

Look out true believers!!!
It was almost 40 years in the making and well worth the wait. Who would of known in 1962 when Spider-Man made his debut that he would light up the big screen so brightly. I for one am glad that it took so long for this movie to be made. Technology is to a point today that it could do much justice to this film. A wonderful combination of special effects and just the right amount of love story to keep everyone happy. I just couldn't believe the action sequences, the fighting and the photography. It actually had me believing that a man could walk on walls, sling webs, and fight evil villains with super-human strength. I would definitely recommend this movie to all of my friends. I will own the DVD. I will watch it again and again. Thank you Marvel comics and thank you Stan "The Man" Lee. I can hardly wait for the Spidey sequel.

Gilda Radner: It's Always Something
(2002)

A sad tale about a funny woman indeed
This movie was very well put together for a made for TV. I found myself on many various points on the emotional spectrum. I enjoyed the SNL days. I also enjoyed the insight into her personal life. All in all, a fine family film.

The Scorpion King
(2002)

The Rock, rocks!!
I was very impressed with this movie. It was so tongue-in-cheek. I am so glad to see that The Rock decided not to take himself to seriously in this film. He had a great sense of humor about the way that he played this character. I am glad that it was decided that the Scorpion King would not be some invincible god-like person. He had some vulnerability to him.

The action scenes were spectacular. More impressive was the fact that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson performed all of his own stunts. I look forward to seeing him in more movies. "Scorpion King: Part II?"

The Cell
(2000)

What a Visual Masterpiece
I couldn't believe the eye candy from start to finish. Being a fan of movies directed by music video masterminds. I am happy to report that the photography in this motion picture is a splendor for the eye to behold. There are so many rich, full images that are put before me, that each and every time that I see this movie, I find something new that I had not seen before. As with previous movies that I have seen, such as Blade and Mystery Men, also by former music video directors, the use of color to capture one's attention is utilized extremely well. Though the characters could have been developed better, the action and costuming was well worth the price of admission. I recommend you buy this one for your DVD collection. Even if you haven't seen this on the big screen, you won't be disappointed. I know I wasn't.

Eventual Wife
(2000)

16 Minutes of Fun
Finding the perfect mate is a difficult thing to do. Dave is just a regular guy that knows what he wants. He dates quite a few girls ( and one guy!) He is looking for long legs. He is looking for brains. He is looking for a girl in his age group. Come to think of it; this guy really knows what he likes. This is impressive since most of the people that I know do not know what they want at all. being out in the dating arena myself, I could particularly identify with Dave. I have dated all kinds of girls, picking out certain qualities that I liked in each of them. Dave has become a sort of hero to me. I want to be Dave. I don't want to give in to the pressure of finding a mate quickly. I will take my time and pick the right one. Have fun with this film, I know I did. Kudos to ATOM Films for another quickie that I enjoyed.

Pearl Harbor
(2001)

Holy Cow!!! It's a hit!
This story took me through every spectrum of the emotional scale. I was pleasantly surprised by the performances of these actors. First, the weaknesses: The story line was a bit predictable. Also, there were so many characters it was difficult to give the depth that each one deserved. That aside, the movie was astounding in it's visual effects. The airplanes and battleships seemed so authentic I almost felt as if I was there. Director Jerry B.'s choice of colors gave the movie a timeless feeling. The historical significance of the time was well documented. Jon Voight's FDR was so on the money. (He is such a great actor!) Ben Affleck and Josh Hartnett were convincing as the best friends for life turned fighter pilots. Kate Beckinsale is so beautiful as the love interest. Cuba Gooding's part could have been expanded upon a bit more. His acting was inspiring. Alec Baldwin gave a "dark-night" feel to his portrayal of the flight commander. He will always be "The Shadow" to this writer. Mako is wonderful as the doubt consumed Japanese Admiral Yamamoto. High marks to James King and Dan Ackroyd for their respective supporting roles. It was Titanic Vs. Saving Private Ryan. AWESOME!

Four Rooms
(1995)

A Cool Flick!!!
This was one crazy roller coaster ride of a movie. I enjoyed all four of these stories. It is New Years Eve and Ted, The Bellhop (Tim Roth of Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction,) is left alone in this hotel that , on this particular night, is filled with some interesting characters. Madonna, Ione Skye, Alicia Witt and others play a coven of witches trying to bring a goddess back to life. They need a missing ingredient from Ted. Antonio Banderas (Mask of Zorro, 13th Warrior) and Tamlyn Tomita (Kumiko, from Karate Kid, Part II) are a couple of parents that just want to have a night out without the kids. They leave the kids in Ted's seemingly capable hands. Sigfried (David Proval of The Sopranos,) suspects his wife, Angela (Jennifer Beals of Flashdance, The Bride,) of being unfaithful so he waits in the room when unsuspecting Ted walks in. Lastly, Chester (Quentin Tarantino of Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction,) and his friends Norman (Paul Calderon of Clockers, Pulp fiction,) and Leo (Bruce Willis of Die Hard, Pulp Fiction,) have an interesting proposition for our Beloved Ted. I'm not sure why Bruce Willis was overlooked in the credits. All in all a fine family film.

The Office Party
(2000)

Cool Short Film
This is one of the coolest short films I have seen in a long time. If you have the means, get Cinemax and check out this short film. It is good to see Ralph "The Karate Kid" Macchio again. He and Tate Donovan made a good buddy team. I myself had visions of parties past where at least one fool drinks too much and passes out. You just have to do something to him. Nods to Jonathon Stewart as he does an outstanding job as Pizza Guy. Carol Kane tops this off with a decent performance. I will be watching out for bigger things from Chiara Edmands, who writes and directs this tongue-in-cheek piece. Enjoy!!!

No Retreat No Surrender
(1985)

one of the greatest action films of all time
J W Wails Performance as R J changed my life forever. I was bullied as a young lad. After seeing this performance I gained the courage that I needed to become a better person. Jean Claude Van Damme is brilliant in this movie. This is mostly because he doesn't speak too often. Kurt McKinney pulls off a top-notch performance as Jason Stillwell, a young man pushed to the edge because he doesn't agree with his father's pacifist views on martial arts. Jason, along with his idol Sensei Lee, he learns that karate is for "defense only."

If you have a chance to see this movie, I recommend it highly. If you can't find a copy of the movie; just come over and watch it at my place.
