Vesper
(2022)

Original mirror universe
Dystopian slow-moving story (7/10) about the collapse of society and the ones that are left behind in an original landscape full of original wonders (SFX 9/10).

If you like a dreamy, futuristic movie that takes you into another world with biotech and original futuristic concepts (9/10), go watch this little gem. It is worth your time, though it could have used a little bit more action/movement (6/10), but the original props and set design is beautiful (8/10)!

Acting is solid, though it can get a little but creepy between humans. Scene editing is done properly, without any major vague decisions on the cutting floor (8/10). Music is a good, without any unnecessary bombastic tones.

This movie is something new and original.

Ne Zha zhi mo tong jiang shi
(2019)

spectacular animation!
Solid story (7) Good music and foley mixer (8) Animation is spectacular with vibrant colours, believable animated motion capture and spectacular cinematography (props, set design, weather effects) (9)

Infinite
(2021)

One egg to rule Earth.
This movie is about 'Infinites', human souls that reincarnate for millenia. The promise was interesting for me, but the story lacked depth.

Seriously, one man (played by Chiwetel Ejiofor) does not want to reincarnate forever, so 7 billion people need to die with the use of a destructive egg?

There is enough action; street chases, planes, melee fighting and the special effects are pretty good too and set design is amazing!

The movie could have been much better - it's just that I won't accept one person is eager to destroy all life on earth just for his personal gain....

Catherine the Great
(2019)

Vulgar language unfitting an Empress!
Script was vulgar and unfitting for the Empress of Russia. There was almost no dignity portrayed by Catherine, no humility and lacking any depth in character. And all the sexual relationships between anyone did not contribute at all to the story. Script was not very good. I was disappointed with this 4-part series as I hoped for more. Too short.

Costumes are beautiful, set design is amazing and cinematography was pretty spectacular - beautiful light of candles!

Don't Look Up
(2021)

Holy cow! Best satire movie of the Solar system!
The revenge of President Streep to 'the one who shall not be named' in this movie is stellar! What an amazing script! She plays such a terrible dim-witted president that you would believe it can only happen in movies...ohh boy...

To all flat-earthers, climate change deniers, fossil fuel addicts, Amazonian tree burners and ocean polluters - keep living in your fake world and don't look up, esp. When a 10km comet is crashing into Mother Earth...

This movie is for you! You will know the truth at the eleventh hour.

The Paper Tigers
(2020)

Wasted opportunity.
I was looking forward to this movie, but I was sadly disapointed by the mediocre script and average comedy. In my opinion, the background family story of the main role should not have been included as it draws attention away. Comedy + action still remains a difficult combo, as this movie attest to it.

Naked Singularity
(2021)

Prepare to be disappointed
When you are promised a world-ending of civilization as we know it and a collapse of all systems, be prepared to be very disappointed.

Writers tried to mix a heist/outsmart criminals with nerdy scifi and failed greatly.

If it was only a heist/outsmart criminals, it might be better as you'd have more time for character development, but this movie was ridiculous.

Settlers
(2021)

Senseless movie.
I've rarely seen such an uninspiring sci-fi movie in a long time.

I have seen bad sci-fi, but this has such an aweful written script, it's not fun anymore.

It made no sense that both of Remmy's parents had to be killed. For what? There was nothing gained by it.

The ending is stupid too.

Not recommended.

The three stars are for set design only!

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again
(2018)

Absolutely dreadful (except final 14 min.)
The script is absolutely terrible. Many songs are lesser known, but that is okay.

I waited 1hr 40m for Meryl Streep, but she never screened, except for the last few minutes.

There is just no point to write this script with Donna being dead. Why? It makes no sense at all. Such a waste!

The only nice song is "Fernando" performed by Cher (she gets 8 stars alone). But the 3 stars are for the nice cinematography by Robert Yeoman.

It had so much potential, but they wasted it all by sending Donna to greener pastures.

Script: 3/10 Cinematography: 7/10 Cher's song: 8/10.

Mad Max
(1979)

Boring.
The first and last time that I'll see this most boring movie.

Music is repetitive, dialogue is not really great and shallow characters. The cinematography is good, with rich colours which can be enjoyed in 4K.

The budget was $350k, so they had to use very cheap props and hired/borrowed the motorcycles.

I never got the feeling that it was a crazy country they'd live in - full of dangers.
