Adventureland
(2009)

Amazing character development!!
Adventure was projected as a raunchy comedy (at least, I envisaged it that way from the trailers and promotional material doing rounds). But, it's so much different from an stereotype teen-comedy or even a light rom-com rhetoric. It turned out to be a drama which provokes you think deeper about the routine facts of life. How you need to fight, how sometimes you loose, deal with it and move on. It makes you realize that you must accept defeats in life and never let it grow on to you.

The characterization of everyone, specially the lead pair, is pretty deep and distinct. The character grows on you, so much so that it keeps you interested and linger on as the movie proceeds. Jesse Eisenberg plays a goofy and suave boy who aims to get into Ivy League journalism. Kristen Stewart plays a girl who is confused, wanders off aimlessly, but has a distinct charm and obscure kind-heartedness. But, Martin Starr, who plays Joel, is amazing and keeps you longing for more of his funny-self.

Overall, a swell movie!! Just don't go, expecting it to be a Teen-Comedy and you'll like it just fine.

Tashan
(2008)

nothing but complete 'Tashan' (style).
This is one heck of a movie which stands true to its name: TASHAN. Its nothing but comedy, romance, adventure, action and a helluva more of mindless action, may be with a pinch of emotions; all put together. The highlight of the entire saga is its presentation, with a "tashan" of course.

The attempt was to create a fast paced action-thriller. Well, the movie almost succeeded in keeping up with that brisk pace except for those good old familiar times of Hindi cinema wherein they try to redact situations every 15 minutes so as somehow to sneak-in a song. And btw, i really didn't mind kareena's "chaliya" ;-) Coming to the thriller attempt, they did put in few twists but nothing that would make you jump out of your seats. But it really saved the movie from being a boring junk. Character developing is admirable and I couldn't help but notice that the story actually unfolds rather than a flowing as a predictable stream.

Anil Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, everyone looked terrific. One more thing, Akshay Kumar's entry reminded me of his Bhool Bhulaiya, wherein he gets a lateral but powerful entry. The dude has once again managed to captivate most of the attention in a multi-starrer. His character is funny, charming, brawny and massively unstoppable. Akki gets even more whistles than kareena kapoor itself. Anil Kapoor too puts in a tremendous show of his acting skills in being a comic mafia leader. Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan also did what they do best, i.e. being gaudy.

All in all, the entire movie as a whole looks sumptuous. Its a complete don't-put-too-much-brains kinda entertaining flick. At last, bollywood has decided to try to raise its presentation standards. A welcome move indeed...!!

Bhool Bhulaiyaa
(2007)

Highly Recommended...!!!
Got a wasted day..?? This movie's gotta everything to make it all right. Well cooked story, nice and gripping presentation, power-packed performances.. and a humor different than the conventional slapstick humor that we get in movies these days (well, at least it was presented differently).

Priyadarshan is really a come-back in this one. Though I liked this fella always, but his movies had been following a routine kinda trail and all his experiments like Bhagam Bhaag have been failing miserably. But this movie was really a welcome break from his side.

Akshay Kumar, as he has already proved several time, has got a great comic timing. He brings twists to the movie's plot as well as inside your belly as you go laughing all the way. Vidhya Balan looks very sweet except for once, but I'll talk no further to ruin your suspense if you haven't seen the movie yet. Paresh Rawal & Rajpal Yadav are once again a treat to watch.

Go see this movie. Its an ultimate stress buster. Go with the guys, and you will have even more fun. :-)

I vote, "Highly Recommended".

Don
(2006)

A Real Tribute
SRK's "Don" is a real tribute to the original blockbuster.

A gripping flick maintaining the story track of the original, while adding more twists and charisma of its own.

A fun movie to watch..!! Shahrukh Khan is wonderful, Priyanka Chopra looks pretty. Arjun Rampal once again proves that he can really act. Only disappointing factor was Kareena Kapoor trying to enact Halen. She looks pathetic.

Songs are pretty awesome too... specially "khaike paan banaras wala". Same old lyrics with modern touch made the song quite catchy. In fact, me and my buddies are planning to watch the movie again. And if we could manage to sneak-in a few "paans" this time, I'm sure the song would be double entertaining.
