Derry Girls
(2018)

Hilarious
Derry Girls is a quick-witted, irreverent show with amazingly funny scenes. It's very well-written, with the Irish slang making scenes even funnier. It portrays very well the climate of religious Northern Ireland with realistic characters. There is also positive representation and the group has a satisfying development arc. The wacky situations provide humorous moments but can sometimes be too far-fetched. Would definitely recommend - even if you're not Irish.

BoJack Horseman
(2014)

Imaginative
Wow. Bojack Horseman is an amazing show with fascinating episodes that are creative and unique for TV today. It deals with deep and complex characters and faces so many issues with a refreshing style. Some episodes are incredibly emotional and extremely immersive. However, I felt the earlier seasons were not as good as the later seasons - my personal favourite being season 4 as the main storyline dealt with a complicated, depressing issue in a breathtaking way. Bojack Horseman is not the funniest show, there are plenty of chuckles though. Overall this show was amazing with great writing and was something so different to everything else I have seen.

Arrested Development
(2003)

Satisfying
Arrested Development is one of the most fascinating shows. The writing in the earlier seasons is so clever and always exciting. The way each episode merges together at the end is absolutely hilarious. The characters are very funny, and the jokes are almost always intellectual. Despite negativity online, I think season 4 was actually really good - not as good as seasons 1-3 but still was well written and funny. However season 5 was the worst by far, not bad compared to other shows - just a shell of its former self.

Modern Family
(2009)

Slapstick
I really enjoy the characters in Modern Family. One aspect of the show they do so brilliantly is slapstick, physical comedy. The directing is really well done and the characters are very likeable. However I do feel like a lot of the jokes in the later season had just been copy and pasted with a different context.

The End of the F***ing World
(2017)

Refreshing
Genuinely shocked at how good this series is. It is such a weird, new spin that I haven't seen before. I loved it. It manages to be so comedic at one point, while still building anticipation. I loved how it ended on a high and wasn't dragged out - I don't think a season 3 is needed.

How I Met Your Mother
(2005)

Hilarious
This show is such a different unique one in the way it is told. It does an excellent job in creating arcs for their likeable characters, and is probably the sole best show for running gags. The reason this didn't get a 10 is partly due to the lackluster 9th season and the flop finale - so much character development thrown out the window.

Friday Night Dinner
(2011)

Very brittish
The acting in this was great. The directing was also well done, and the episode by episode plot was really funny. However, one place this show fell short was the final season. It felt rushed and way too slapstick and over the top to be funny. All in all, Friday Night Dinner is a great, classicly Brittish, genuine, sitcom.

The Good Place
(2016)

Decent
One word I would use to describe the Good Place is decent. Decent in the sense that it had a clear path it followed throughout the series with consistent humour and likeable characters. However, at some points it did feel a bit stale. All in all, it is a very unique, consistent show that pulled of a fantastic finale - even though it wasn't the funniest show, I still thoroughly enjoyed it.

Community
(2009)

Unique but amazing
Community is one of the best sitcoms that I have ever seen. It is one of the wackiest, most weird show I think I have ever watched. It is a hidden gem with the best episode on episode plots I have ever seen. It is extremely immersive and almost makes a mockery (or parody atleast) with popular sitcom clichés and tropes - and that is why it is an extremely clever show. Despite losing 3 of 7 cast members in season 5, it still pulled off an amazing finale - I recommend this show to all hardcore TV fans.

The Office
(2005)

Great
The Office is a great show with unique characters - it utilised awkward comedy to the best of its ability with refreshing directing and many hilarious episodes. However, one big thing is that after Michael left in season 7, the whole show kind of took a step down from what it once was.

Parks and Recreation
(2009)

Surprisingly amazing
After a very bad first season, Parks and Recreation progressed into a great show, with the best characters that I have ever seen. From season 2 onwards, the characters are consistently hilarious as you begin to know them so well. Despite a couple main characters leaving in the later seasons, Parks and Recreation still maintained its top tier comedy spot, pulling of a great final season and ending on a high.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine
(2013)

Diversity
One thing B-99 does so well is casual diversity with many positive role models. It has great, lovable characters and a certain uniqueness to it. One thing that is so good and different about the show, is the strong, overarching plot giving a higher sense of drama and reminder of consequences. However I do feel like a lot of jokes are quite slapstick, and probably aimed towards younger viewers. Overall I would recommend, it never gets stale.

Friends
(1994)

Consistently good
One thing about Friends that is better than most other series - is that it is very consistent. Episode after episode it provides funny plots acted out by well-written characters. A few downsides are the laugh track (especially when some jokes aren't that funny), the poorly aged jokes and the fact that it's quite basic and doesn't really provide anything new to the sitcom genre.

The Big Bang Theory
(2007)

Very watchable
The Big Bang Theory is a good show. However, alot of the episodes are just meh. An annoying thing is the loud, annoying laugh track - especially when most of the jokes just aren't funny or laughworthy. Overall though, it is an easy watch with lovable characters.
