Notes on a Scandal
(2006)

A STYLISH DRAMA
Judi Dench and Cate Blanchett's acting talents are well known. However, I had no idea what to expect in particular from this film. So it stands to reason that I had low hopes. And for me, that was a huge success. I was astonished by it and immediately engaged in it.

It lasts for about an hour and a half. So, perhaps, you won't become bored. The actresses were incredibly talented and truly lived on their roles, just like actors should. The dialogues weren't spectacular, but they were alright. This movie has a great score. The character development is good, and the screenplay is well-written. This is a compelling movie about loneliness, obsession, and the dark side of human psychology.

Overall, if you want to see a gripping drama, this one will be enjoyable.

Tár
(2022)

And this is my friend what we call "ACTING"
Tár caught my attention at first because I assumed it was a movie about music. But when I dove deeper into the film, I discovered it was really about nothing at all. It delicately and serenely depicts the beauty of emptiness. It boasts excellent production value, director, soundtrack, and cinematography. But it has more to it than just being "great," which we cannot quantify. It features Cate Blanchett, who genuinely became Tár rather than merely playing the role.

I started liking Cate Blanchett after seeing "Carol." It was, in my opinion, her best performance. But I was mistaken, and I'm grateful that I was. By undertaking new initiatives, she is simply crossing her own line. Playing Lydia Tár is quite challenging. Putting so much effort into a character while still making them seem effortless is quite challenging. Not just for her stunning performance, but also for several other positive elements, I must urge you to see this movie. But the film is not perfect. This kind of movie is not for everyone because it is quite long and drawn out.

Overall, it's a fantastic movie, and I'm really rooting for Cate Blanchett to win an Oscar this year. She deserves it!

RRR (Rise Roar Revolt)
(2022)

TYPICAL MASALA MOVIE
I watch films from all around the world in all genres. However, I didn't intend to watch this film. Because South Indian commercial films, while entertaining, are not really my cup of tea. But it was the reviews for this movie that really got my attention. Literally, they claim that this is an Oscar contender. I mean, I get that these movies are novel to them. They were therefore fascinated by it. But I thought it was over the top and foolish. I mean, while watching that, I actually laughed a lot. In this movie, there is no logic. Observing this will leave scientists completely perplexed. In this film, everything they have previously taught is a lie.

Well, there are some positive aspects to this film. The production quality is incredible. Great performances are made. The stunning cinematography and excellent background music are the icing on the cake. Overall, though, this film is little more than the usual masala flick that we have been seeing for years. Give us something unique, like Sita Ramam, Sir, Tumbbbad, Aamis, etc., dear India. Instead of watching this cheesy, melodramatic work of so-called art, you may watch one of these movies.

Smile
(2022)

Really had a potential to be a good horror but...
I am not a great fan of horror films. But I was interested about this one after a well cut trailer and clever marketing. But it was meh type of experience for me. Well it is a well made film with good production value. It has good cinematography, good bgm, good technical sides and most importantly a good idea. But that's it. They only thought about the idea but they could not able to put it together through a story line. The screenplay is very weak. Especially they could not build the suspense. We all knew what would be the climax from the beginning. You can watch it if you have plenty time but don't expect much from this one.

Don't Look Up
(2021)

Not perfect but important for us
I know it is not a perfect movie. The plot is not super realistic . The comedy is not so good. BUT it is a very important one. Politics is eating us from the inside and we have no idea about it. It was like a slap on all of our faces. I myself even got triggered sometimes when I was watching it. This social media freak generation does not know anything else than posting memes, trolling people, obsessed about celebrities etc. There are so much happening in this world and we are concerned about which model wore which dress, which actress got divorced or who dated whom!!

This movie has a mind blowing cast. Though I did not like everybody's performance. Timothee deserved more time. The director could actually use his talents. Jennifer was good. Meryl did not disappoint me as she never does. Cate is my all time favorite . But sorry but I did not find her special here . I did not like Mark Rylance at all . For me, the star of the show was Leo. I am not a huge fan of him . I never was . But my god!! What a terrific performance it was. Loved him.

Although this film has so many problems too. Some things were unnecessary. Like Cate and Leo's affair, overly friendly behavior from the president . I mean come on , SHE IS THE PRESIDENT. The screenplay is a little slow. The editing is bad . Many scenes ended in the middle of something . Maybe director wanted to do something unique. But I did not like it.

Basically it is a good film. Not a masterpiece. But very important one. I think everybody should watch it.

Pulp Fiction
(1994)

Classic!!!
I watched this cult classic on 1st january,2022 for the very first time and it still feels fresh!! Maybe that is the real magic about this movie. I know some people might call it "overrated", well I am not saying it is a masterpiece but it did entertain me a lot. Sometimes movie are all about entertainment. If someone wants to sit down in front of a tv after a exhausted day and wants to watch something to lighten his mood , then this is a perfect movie for you my friend .

This movie is technically good too. The way Tarantino wrote a clever script and tied his audience with a movie with such an ordinary story, is really impressive . The acting, humor, violence and use of music is top notch. And last but not the least Uma Thurman ,THE BEAUTY!!!!

The Piano
(1993)

WHY? WHY? WHY?
I am giving 4 stars for the beautiful cinematography, catchy background score, nice direction and a very powerful performance by Anna Pacquin. And there's nothing in this movie. I heard Holly Hunter was amazing in this movie and I was actually a little bit excited to see that. But SORRY . It was not so impressive . I mean it was not that bad but if I compare her with Adrien Brody who also played a pianist in "The Pianist" and also won an oscar like her, I am quite disappointed. I thought I would see some kind of world class performance like that but I was wrong.

The main problem with this movie that there is no development. Who is Ada and why doesn't she like her husband? If she doesn't like him then why she touches her husband to just please herself and he can't touch her? I mean what kind of stupid selfishness is that? And why did she fall for the neighbor who only wanted her physically and kinda harassed her and she didn't seem to like that. Then suddenly he felt guilty after sleeping with her and told her to leave. Then she fell in love with him? I mean does she know anything about him? Calling 'LUST' love isn't right. 'LOVE' is not something like that cheap. Both of them just wanted each other physically and nothing else.

On the other hand, I didn't find Ada's husband that bad. He didn't force her for anything and respect her. Although they forcefully made him wild and bad at the end to just prove Ada right. And I found him a little bit coward and he didn't have any self respect. But he was not a bad husband.

The movie is very erotic and actually have frontal nudity. So if anyone doesn't feel comfortable with this type of scenes, then I will suggest him not to watch it and watch something else .
