Riverdale
(2017)

Awesome Show
Just started watching this show and I have to say it has been surprisingly really good so far!! I love how the writers have re-imagined all these classic comic characters and given much needed depth. The way they deviate from the comics like Archie has been turned from a fun loving simpleton to conflicted, much more confident football playing yet musically inclined sensitive guy, Veronica from rich snotty girl to much more caring, sensitive yet sexy girl and Jughead from plain lazy, food loving to this nerdy, perceptive & shy guy! Betty is the only one who on the outside at least is the closest to the original comics and oh how they turned Moose into a Bi-sexual, Alice Cooper a sociopath and Hermione Lodge a gold digger! Amazing!

Also the casting is ingenious, all the right actors taken for the different roles with the twist of having a Latino as Veronica, an Asian as Reggie and Josie a black girl! The actress that has stood out for me is Lili Reinhart, she has nailed the character of this All-American girl-next-door sweetheart, a role we rarely see these day. The setting of the show in a sub-urban small town which is quaint & peaceful on the outside but has layers of subtext of conflict, jealousy and ambition, it is just prefect!

Now the problems with the show is that it does remind one strongly of Pretty Little Liars and we know how that went to gutter after the first 3 Seasons I hope this doesn't happen but then again how much can you stretch the investigations of a single murder unless you add more murders! What happened with PLL was that after S03 all the plot point, hints & conspiracies setup blew apart with the entire narrative having moon carter holes in the end. Therefore I hope the writers have already thought out where they want to go with this show and how they are going to tie everything up neatly in the end. Honestly I don't see this show lasting beyond Season 3 with being consistently good!

As I said earlier I am most impressed by Lili Reinhart, she is beautiful and doing a great job with the role given bringing all the right emotions of love, innocence, hurt and anger. I am quite smitten and crushing on her big time. Also her character seems the most complex as well on first look she seemed closest to the original comics but as we found out in the last episode that she may suffer from some kind of split personality disorder and we know that she takes some meds (first episode) making her quite dangerous & potentially a suspect of killing Jason Blossom to avenge what happened to her sister.

All in all a great addition to the long list of teen/crime/suspense/drama TV shows exploring Suburban America! Can't wait for the 4th episode.

Sliding Doors
(1998)

Fascinating !
The film depicts quite well how are lives are shaped by the small small actions we take in our daily routine. The two parallel lives of the leading lady is very well shown. Gwyneth Paltrow is brilliant in this film one of those rare actresses who is not only beautiful but can act as well, equally at ease portraying sexy character or the pretty girl next door!! Her best friend is good too as for John Lych he really makes you pity his character and John Hannah though annoys you a bit with his very thick accent but was good overall though not perfect casting in his case.

All in all this is indeed a Rom-Com with a difference, highly recommended to while away a slow night!

Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak
(1988)

A Classic !
I remember I was 5 years old when I first saw the film, it was the first Hindi film which I watched and I was spell-bounded. It is the most romantic film ever made in bollywood, the best adaptation of Romeo and Juliet. Since this film I have been the biggest fan of Aamir Khan and have watched his each and every film. He was brilliant in the film, looked handsome and acted superbly, the Papa Kehte Hain song made a special place for him in my heart. Juhi Chawla was great too and together they both made a quite cute couple, definitely among one of the best bollywood has seen. All the cast's acting was topnotch be it Raj Zutshi, Dilip Tahil, Alok Nath and the rest. The film scored in ever department like music, cinematography choreography, background score …the works. No one can forget the songs of this film like Aye Mere Humsafar, Ghazab Ka Hai Din, Akele Hain Tu Kia Ghum Hai, the poetic lyrics and haunting tunes of these gems made them timeless. It is one of my most memorable and favorite films. It will not be wrong to say that QSQT is a true classic of Indian Cinema. It came at a time when crass, wild and vulgar action films was order of the day, it brought back romance and melody to bollywood and a whole new wave of romantic films started being made. Eventually the 90's decade was dominated by love stories, in this context it is truly a landmark film in bollywood !

Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai
(1998)

Fantastic !!
I have watched this film many times, and will say this one thing that it is a light romantic complete family entertainer, Salman's acting is among the best of his career and all other cast is first-rate.The scenes between Salman and the kid are very sweet, cute and sometimes emotional,Anupam Kher as always is dependable and of course Johnny Lever is hilarious.Twinkle Khanna can be called as the surprise package here as she delivers unexpectedly quite a credible performance .The songs are hummable and can be heard repeatedly, they are beautifully shot too.The film has also got repeat value, all in all a sweet bollywood entertainer, the only problem could be that it drags a bit in the end reels, though still a must watch !
