Quentin Quarantena: Fuck Covid-19
(2020)

The title is better than the content
Was expecting anger with a layer of Italian humor.

Sadly, this is about the difficulties faced during lock-down in Italy. Nothing noteworthy, just 3 minutes of this with a bit of vintage movie filter on top.

Cry Macho
(2021)

Macho
Don't expect this to be an action packed movie.

I find this is an introspection about masculinity in general as the sunset of life gets closer.

Maybe I'm susceptible to the message in this movie, but it hit me hard.

Corrective Measures
(2022)

Not bad
Firstly, it's entertaining.

This is the type of movie to be enjoyed with a cold drink, while having company over. This movie is light and unpretentious, although it does contain a few plot twists.

Regarding the bad reviews... I think the problem with this type of movie is that the superhuman movie market is almost tapped out and highly demanding.

The strategy game could've been explained better. They hinted at it, but with 10 minutes more, I think it could've been a much more memorable movie.

The prison setting was interesting.

The social implications of a portion of the population gaining superpowers was explained briefly, but they could've lingered more there.

Secretul fericirii
(2018)

Did not expect that!
The movie starts in a very relaxed situation, with a drink, a smoke and abstract discussions about life. Almost silly.

It progresses ever so gently with minute twists and turns.

Whatever you think this was about gets challenged. It gains intensity, until it all cascades down with a palpable sense of impeding doom.

The characters are almost psychologically waterboarded.

The writing is genius, as this is all done mostly with dialogue.

Straight Outta Nowhere: Scooby-Doo! Meets Courage the Cowardly Dog
(2021)

If you like Scooby and Courage, you'll enjoy this
The movie does justice to both of Scooby and Courage and it is thoroughly entertaining.

The interactions are credible, funny and even character developing.

The story has some unexpected twists and turns and even moments where you wonder "what are they supposed to do now".

It has something for everyone.

Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins
(2021)

Almost
Perfect movie to have in the background while not paying full attention, maybe being inebriated with loud talking friends.

"Almost" is the perfect word that describes this movie.

It's almost good enough as an action movie.

It almost has credible character development and decision making.

Feels like the people involved gave up when they were almost done.

This gives you a false hope that in the end something redeeming might happen.

Avenue 5
(2020)

OMG!
This type of comedy is not readily accessible to everyone. It only pretends to be lighthearted. I think this is the reason why it has a low rating and polarized reviews.

The show is about a space cruise-ship that faces an ever-increasing cascade of errors and unfortunate events. The decisions and reactions from crew and passengers seem almost preposterous, but strangely plausible.

The absurdity of some situations makes you laugh, while making you think about what you are actually laughing about. The stark and serious soundtrack highlights this feeling, especially during the credits roll.

Owatta hito
(2018)

Great Movie
This is about a 7.7 movie.

The story is about a newly retired Japanese man.

He feels he's still alive and has much more to offer.

The movie mainly follows his character development (and his interpersonal relations).

It's very enjoyable, but it's the complete opposite of an action movie.

It's the kind of movie to watch on a lazy Sunday afternoon, but manages to be surprisingly meaningful.

There are highs and lows, even moments that leave you a bit teary eyed while making you smile.
