Frederick Douglass: In Five Speeches
(2022)

Snapshot of a great man in US history
Several actors do an excellent reading of five of Douglass' speeches, with biographical perspectives interwoven into a story. Henry Louis Gates did a good job as one of the producers and narrators. Definitely worth the hour to watch.

Gone
(2012)

Keep watching Gone over and over
It's hard to put my finger on what keeps pulling me back to this movie, but I find it addictive in a good way.

The story may not be new, but the performances are believable Seyfried presents a strong character with a compelling story.

Direction, staging and acting are well done.

This is a movie I turn to for entertainment when I'm not sure what to choose. I watch Gone often and have yet to tire of it.

Profile

Not for the small screen
Very good topic for a movie that kept me mostly interested. Would have been a much higher rating if there had been audio reading of the texts on the screen, and if images were much larger. Smaller screen TVs make it hard to appreciate what is happening. Over-reliance on text display makes it hard for the visually impaired. This has been a problem in other recent films using the same 'screen capture' technique also.
