Law & Order: No Good Deed
(2024)
Episode 12, Season 23

Nice!
I have been on the fence about the L and O reboot but I have to say I really enjoyed tonight's episode. I loved the scenes with Baxter and Price. I thought Tony Goldwyn has been a great addition. For me the writing for the reboot has been a concern but I felt like this episode had a tighter script and better plot as well as better direction. The detectives were outstanding. Maroun did not have a big role in this episode.

The scene with Baxter arguing with the judge and kind of pushing his back against the wall for a positive ruling was reminiscent of older Law and Order episodes. Considering tonight's plot line and subject it would have been fun to have Olivia Benson from SVU do a cameo or interrogate the suspect. I thought the actress who played the prior rape victim did a great job.

Law & Order: Last Dance
(2024)
Episode 5, Season 23

There will never
Be another Jack McCoy. Sam Waterston is a national treasure, so many wonderfully acted Law and Order episodes.. I can't pick a favorite.

I liked that this episode kept Jack true to his convictions and gave him a final case to argue in the courtroom. Very eloquent and moving. Mr. Waterston elevates every scene he .

As far as Jack's replacement, I wish Linus Roache would reprise his role as Cutter. I remember watching Homeland and the chemistry between Linus Roache's character and Hugh Dancy's war mongering John Zabel was just wonderful. Law and Order has always been one of my favorite shows, I have felt the reboot though has lacked the edgy drama and New York feel of the original. I do like the addition of Detective Riley, will wait to see what direction the show takes now.

The Watchful Eye
(2023)

Sleepy Eye
I agree with many of the reviewers here, the show had an interesting premise but it is confusing and poorly written. The main character is really annoying, especially her interactions with her employer, she tries to come off older than she is and the dialogue between the two is not very realistic. The other nannies are so much better as characters. Nothing much happens during the episodes and the plot is thin, I usually end up falling asleep before the show is finished. I wish there was more time spent on the back stories of the other characters and less time was spent on the lead. A lot of potential for more mystery or supernatural themes. The set is atmospheric..and the actress who plays Mrs. Ivey is a treasure.

Les Papillons Noirs
(2022)

Fascinating although end was....
Disappointing! This series was well written and beautifully acted. Usually don't like stories told in different timelines but this one was done well and meshed together . The subject matter is dark, haunting, and twisted..some scenes difficult to watch.

One reviewer mentioned switching the lead actress mid series, I think this was done to show the contrast between the "two Solanges". In the first version of Solange, the actress appears vulnerable and easily manipulated... she looks so innocent..she matched the image of the story told by Albert as promised to "Catherine". The second actress who played the reality version of Solange was attractive but had a much more hardened look to her and it was easier to imagine her as a sociopathic killer.

I would have given this series a higher rating but the end was a let down and far fetched, especially the scenes between Nora and Catherine. Didn't get as much closure as I would have liked.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit: A Final Call at Forlini's Bar
(2022)
Episode 22, Season 23

Great Finale
What a beautifully written and well acted episode. I love, love Raul Esparza, he can convey such emotion in his eyes and expressions. He and Mariska H have such great chemistry, their conversations were the highlight of the episode along with the performance of the actress who played the DV victim. Looking forward to the next season, I hope they continue to explore Olivia's character in therapy.

Good Sam
(2022)

Worse and worse
Have been recording the show, each time I watch I hope it will get better but it is awful. Have read interviews by Sofia Bush and Jason Isaacs that the show is supposed make you "feel good" and want to be at Lakeshore Sentinel.. are they kidding? What aspects of the show are uplifting, certainly not the characters. Residents fighting and one walks out during a transplant surgery, cheating partners/spouses, a vengeful mother who hasn't spoken to her son in 12 years, a father who starts an affair with his daughter's best friend and said best friend doesn't tell Sam about it. The writing is juvenile and the stories are full of medical inaccuracies and unrealistic circumstances, like a state of the art hospital's pipes freeze during a snow storm? If the show is advertised as a medical drama, I don't think it is too to ask to try and keep it a bit accurate, focus more on patient stories and less on the bickering and characters backstabbing each other. Just sad that Sophia Bush and Jason Isaacs agreed to do this show much less produce it and direct it too.

Code Black
(2015)

Excellent
And well researched. Had never watched the series before but am really enjoying it. So much better than many of the other medical shows on now. The set gives the feel of a real ER.

The Thing About Pam: She's a Star Witness
(2022)
Episode 3, Season 1

Evil personified
Wow Renee Zellweiger is amazing in this. She switches from sticky sweet to evil witch with just an expression. Her mannerisms, speech etc are chilling. Wasn't sure what to make of the first episode but I think this series has been done well.. a true story and so infuriating to think it took so long to catch up with Pam's misdeeds.

Law & Order: The Right Thing
(2022)
Episode 1, Season 21

Not the same
But I am enjoying the remake. I think the stories have improved and I do like the DA's. Hugh Dancy is British and at times his American accent sounds clipped but I like his Nolan Price character, he seems to be ethical while his assistant takes more chances. I wish Sam Waterston was given more to do but the set up is similar as older shows such when Jack and Clare would talk to Adam Schiff about their cases. The detectives are better too. I didn't like the Cosgrove character in the first episode. Will watch as I enjoy the series overall.

Good Sam: Wake Up
(2022)
Episode 5, Season 1

Tone Deaf
I watched a couple more episodes to see if the show improved as I do like Sophia Bush. Sadly it did not. The series could have ended on a five episode arc. For me the problem with the show is it does not depict the real struggles of a strong female doctor as her antagonist is her father. He is such an unlikeable person, not only sleeping with a female resident he is supervising but who is also his daughter's best friend. Not to mention the female resident made poor decisions too. The diverse cast is essentially window dressing for the two main characters of Sam and her father.

Sam is a legacy doctor working in a hospital her parents apparently founded. So essentially we are seeing a rich girl's problems .. a lost opportunity to show struggles of females trying to make it in a profession where about 75% of surgeons are male. The show was written in 2019 before CoVid and it shows. Too much focus on donors and glitzy parties etc. Fancy hospital setting. A tone deafness to the state her health care is in as well as the exhaustive hours our doctors and nurses have been putting in the last 2 years dealing with a pandemic. No healthcare worker has time to go sit in ice baths in the PT department during work or would be so unprofessional as to argue in front of patients over who's in charge. This happens only in the minds of writers that are completely out of touch with the real world.
