Thor: Love and Thunder
(2022)

Never let Taika Waititi near MCU again. EVER!
He's clearly a talented director, no doubt about that. I enjoy his previously films - Boy, What We Do in the Shadows, Jojo Rabbit, even Ragnarok - they're brilliant. But in this case, he took what should be a Superhero action MCU movie and worked in bits and bobs of nothing more than trivial, silly humour.

A joke, a quip, tongue-in-cheek teasing, a light-hearted break after hectic tension, yes, but this was just over-extended, irritating elements of crappy comedy that do nothing to add to the storyline at all.

It's as though he had a list of funny gags and was determined to fit them anywhere he could, no matter what.

In the Earth
(2021)

Watch the trailer then walk away - that's as good as it gets.
After watching the trailer I was hoping for a Dog Soldiers or Severance style film, but it was nothing of the sort. The only dog was the movie and the only severance was me turning it off after an hour because I couldn't face 45 minutes more. The storyline was vague and the main characters were just too weak to get up to speed at all.

Black Lake
(2020)

20 mins in and all she's done is walk around the house and eat some cereal
Contrary to those that scored this 9/10 and 10/10, this is NOT a film for horror fans that want a movie that "packs a punch". This doesn't pack anything at all and couldn't punch its way out of a wet paper bag. I'm not sure which movie they watched but it wasn't Black Lake, that's for sure.

While the visuals try to be stylish, they're just as dull as the plot. The only time I held my breath was in anticipation of passing out so as not to have to see the rest of this dreadful offering masquerading as a horror. Eventually, I could take it no more and killed it after 40 mins of slow and dreary nothingness.

I'd rather watch snails mating.

Attack of the Unknown
(2020)

No no no no no
I lasted 35 minutes - it's just plain awful in every aspect of film making. I gave it a 2 only because it was clever enough to trick me into believing it was going to be good. Bad acting, bad cinematography, bad bad bad everything! There's nothing good about this movie at all.

Capsized: Blood in the Water
(2019)

Could have been better
I thought this was going to be suspenseful and tense like Openwater was, but it wasn't. The story is good (based on a true story apparently) but once they're in the raft, then it's just a bunch of people shouting and screaming at each other either to do something or not to do something. Unless you're really bored then there are better movies like this out there.

Love
(2011)

Lifeless. If I could give it a zero, I would.
This sounded like it was going to be gripping and perhaps even exciting. It wasn't. It was dull and lifeless. A mix and match of the main story and weird, arbitrary flashbacks to people we don't know, talking about stuff that doesn't add anything to anything. You could remove all the flashbacks and still not any the wiser. It doesn't even leave you saying, "hmm, that was interesting". It just leaves you saying, "what the hell was that all about".

Geo-Disaster
(2017)

If you watch this movie you will go blind!
This movie is so bad I'm breaking my lifelong rule of never reviewing a movie just to review this movie!

If I could have given it a negative star rating, I would have.

I can't even begin to describe how awful it is to watch. I managed 23 minutes of the most painful, eye-wateringly bad acting I have ever seen and that includes pre-schooler nativity plays.

Unless you're marooned on an island with only this movie for entertainment, or you're really, truly, absolutely, bored shitless, this is not a movie for watching - it's a movie to putting down and avoiding.
