Shaitaan
(2024)

Potential wasted
When the movie started it has the potential of becoming a great story like True Detective but it fails to reach to its true potential. The mystery and enigma around the lead characters looses quickly and turns out to be a torture movie both for the characters and the audiences. I saw it somewhere that its inspired by a Gujrati movie and I would like to see it sometime later not soon after watching this shamble of a movie. Amongst the lead characters the torment and the tormentor the girl and madhavan. The good thing is the beautiful scenic cinema trophy in the beginning and some good visuals. W.

Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya
(2024)

Disappointed
I get this that it can't be Her or ex-machina but when you want to borrow a sci-fi plot for your movie atleast spend some movie to hire a tech expert who will tell you how stupid it is for an advanced AI to get corrupted by malware and that too for a software for fast charging yes a software not hardware.

The love story doesn't feel believable or relatable.

The Marvels
(2023)

Disappointing
The Marvels is a disappointing and dull sequel to the much better Captain Marvel (2019). The film tries to juggle too many characters and subplots, resulting in a messy and incoherent story that lacks focus and direction. The film follows Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), and Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) as they team up to stop a Kree threat that involves a mysterious wormhole and a rogue Skrull faction. The film is directed by Nia DaCosta, who fails to inject any flair or originality into the superhero genre.

The film's biggest problem is its lack of character development and emotional depth. The three protagonists have little chemistry and personality, and their motivations and arcs are poorly established and resolved. Carol Danvers is reduced to a bland and boring hero who has no personal stake in the conflict. Monica Rambeau is a generic and forgettable sidekick who has a strained relationship with her aunt Carol. Kamala Khan is an annoying and naive fan-girl who has a crush on Carol and idolises her as a role model. The film does not explore the potential of their powers or their identities as women of colour in a male-dominated world.

The film's action scenes are also uninspired and repetitive, relying on CGI and explosions to create spectacle. The film does not offer any memorable or creative set pieces, and the final battle is a clichéd and anticlimactic showdown with a generic villain. The film's humour is also forced and unfunny, relying on cheap jokes and references to pop culture. The film's attempts to be relevant and progressive are also superficial and pandering, as it tries to appeal to a diverse and young audience without any substance or nuance.

The Marvels is a wasted opportunity to expand on the cosmic and fantastical aspects of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is a bland and boring film that fails to deliver on its promise of being a fun and empowering adventure. It is a film that does not deserve the title of "The Marvels". I give it two stars out of ten.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom
(2023)

Way better than Marvels
Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom is a fun and action-packed sequel that expands on the underwater world of Atlantis and its colorful inhabitants. Jason Momoa returns as the charismatic and heroic Arthur Curry, who must team up with his estranged brother Orm (Patrick Wilson) to stop the vengeful Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) from unleashing a powerful weapon that could destroy the surface world. The film is directed by James Wan, who brings his signature style of thrilling set pieces, inventive visuals, and humorous banter to the superhero genre. The film also features Amber Heard as Mera, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Randall Park as Dr. Shin, and Martin Short as Kingfish, a new character who provides some comic relief.

The film's strengths lie in its exploration of the rich mythology and history of Atlantis, as well as the dynamic relationship between Arthur and Orm, who have to overcome their past grievances and learn to trust each other. The film also delivers some spectacular action scenes, such as a chase through a sunken city, a battle with a giant sea monster, and a climactic showdown with Black Manta and his army of mercenaries. The film's weaknesses are its predictable plot, its over-reliance on CGI, and its lack of emotional depth. The film does not offer much character development or emotional stakes for the protagonists, and the villain's motivation is rather simplistic and clichéd.

Overall, Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom is a highly entertaining and visually stunning film that will appeal to fans of the first film and the DC Extended Universe. It is not a groundbreaking or profound film, but it is a fun and satisfying popcorn flick that delivers what it promises. I give it seven stars out of ten.

Kaala Paani
(2023)

Its potential wasted by lousy character development
Not sure if the writers even understand The Theory of Evolution. The writer has so much material at their disposal after COVID 19 to play with their imagination and all they can come with in the year 2027 is a water borne disease. Have they got no technology to boil or sterilize the water what happened to RO system. Most of the symptoms and counter measures are borrowed from COVID 19 which is shows lack of originality.

And the characters, are either shown black or white and some of them switch between the two like a yo yo trying to put across the point that humans can go to any extent to survive.

This doesn't have to be 7 episodes and should have wrapped in 6 or 4 episodes. Something to learn from the Railway Men.

Rebel Moon - Chapter One: Chalice of Blood
(2023)

Empire meets Motherland
"Rebel Moon Part 1" takes audiences on a journey to a galaxy far, far away, but unfortunately, it falls short of delivering the awe-inspiring experience we've come to expect from space epics. The film, directed by Zack Snyder, feels like a budget-friendly rendition of the iconic Star Wars universe, with a plot that echoes the timeless classic "Seven Samurai."

Visually, "Rebel Moon Part 1" struggles to escape the shadows of its more established counterparts. The set designs, special effects, and overall production quality give off a distinct impression of a Netflix production values and attempt at capturing the grandeur of space opera. The spacecraft and alien landscapes lack the meticulous attention to detail that has become a hallmark of the genre, leaving viewers yearning for the immersive environments that have defined other sci-fi epics.

The plot, while intriguing in its own right, cannot shake the feeling of déjà vu. "Rebel Moon" borrows heavily from the Seven Samurai trope, where a group of warriors is recruited to defend a vulnerable settlement against an impending threat. While this narrative formula has proven successful in the past, the film fails to inject sufficient originality or depth into its characters and storyline, making it feel more like a recycled concept than a fresh take on the genre.

The characters, unfortunately, suffer from a lack of development, leaving audiences with thinly sketched archetypes that fail to evoke the emotional investment needed for a space epic. The dialogue feels stilted at times, and the performances, though earnest, struggle to elevate the material beyond its derivative nature.

Despite these shortcomings, "Rebel Moon Part 1" does manage to offer some entertaining moments. Action sequences are passable, and the film occasionally hits the mark with its attempts at humor. However, these fleeting highs are not enough to redeem a movie that ultimately feels like a missed opportunity to breathe new life into the space opera genre.

In conclusion, "Rebel Moon Part 1" falls into the trap of emulating the giants that came before it, particularly Star Wars, without successfully carving out its own identity. While the homage to Seven Samurai adds a layer of familiarity, it also reinforces the feeling that we've seen this story unfold in more captivating ways. As the first installment in a planned series, one can only hope that subsequent chapters will find a way to break free from the shadows and forge a unique path among the stars.

Thank You for Coming

What was that all about
I don't understand the need to bash patriarchy to make a progressive movie. The story is a cheap knock off dude where is my car and other American comedies. The sign of a good movie is that you care for the characters you cry you laugh with them. Here I wanted to slap them out of their delirium. A 30 something sole goal in life is to get orgasm and she is even ready to get married to some loser posing as a nice guy.

Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue
(2023)

A Cinematic Triumph
I like the based on true event genre and this is the second movie I am watching in Netflix after Jawan. The later is waste of time and money, wish we had more movies like this celebrating the true heroes of India. And truth be told India has its fair share of real heroes and it is upto the movie maker to bring those stories to us. I never heard of Jaspinder Singh Gill before the movie. After watching the movie I spent some time searching and finding more about him.

The direction was almost faultless although I wish its shorten out by 30 mins to make it more crisp and engaging. Most of the movie I was connected with the character and Akshay shined as the lead character.

Jawan
(2023)

Wafer thin plot extended to near 3 hours in the extended cut
Jawan, the latest addition to the action genre, falls short of expectations with a plot that brings nothing new to the table. The storyline follows the clichéd trajectory of a patriotic soldier with a vendetta against the corrupt system, a narrative that has been explored ad nauseam in countless other films.

One of the major drawbacks of Jawan is its reliance on slow-motion action scenes, a tired and overused technique that fails to inject any excitement into the movie. Instead of enhancing the viewing experience, these sequences come off as tedious and uninspired, leaving the audience craving for something more dynamic and engaging.

The weak link in Jawan is undoubtedly the villain character, which lacks the depth and complexity needed to create a formidable antagonist. The antagonist's motivations are unclear, and the performance lacks the intensity required to make a lasting impact. This weak portrayal diminishes the overall stakes in the film and leaves the audience indifferent to the conflict at hand.

Despite a decent performance from the lead actor, the lack of innovation in the plot, coupled with ineffective slow-motion action scenes and a feeble antagonist, makes Jawan a forgettable addition to the action genre. For viewers seeking a fresh and gripping cinematic experience, Jawan might not be the best choice.

Rubbish nepotism driven movie
Usually I like gujrati movies as they come with good plots and good story lines. This one although a good concept failed to deliver its impact lead actor can't act and only their cause of nepotism. I can sense the main reveal miles away.

The Ghost Who Walks
(2019)

What's with the 10 stars
"The Ghost Who Walks" is a crime drama film that follows a recently released convict named Nolan, who is on a mission to find his daughter and escape the clutches of a ruthless crime boss. The story unfolds as Nolan navigates through the dangerous underworld, facing numerous challenges and encounters along the way.

In my personal opinion, I found "The Ghost Who Walks" to be a disappointing movie. There were several reasons for this. Firstly, the plot felt disjointed and lacked cohesion, making it difficult to follow and invest in the characters' journeys. Additionally, the pacing of the film was uneven, with moments of intense action followed by lengthy periods of slow development.

Furthermore, the film failed to deliver on its promise of being a gripping crime drama. The character development was shallow, and the performances felt lackluster, failing to evoke any deep emotional connection. The dialogue, at times, felt forced and unnatural, further detracting from the overall viewing experience.

Visually, the cinematography and production design were average, failing to create a captivating atmosphere or draw the audience into the world of the movie. The action sequences lacked excitement and failed to leave a lasting impression.

To sum it up, "The Ghost Who Walks" fell short in several aspects, including its plot, character development, performances, and overall execution. It didn't live up to its potential as a compelling crime drama, making it a disappointing viewing experience.

The Creator
(2023)

Nothing to new offer except visuals
It started with the word origin of Nirmata but director or the screen writer didn't bother to do their research on the word they are going to use heavily throughout the movie. Nirmata is a Sanskirt word. Now the nirmata of the movie isn't a creator of any kind more of an engineer that we have so many even right now. In terms of story the concept of ai and human fighting isn't a new one. Instead of alqaida America is now fighting ai and simulants. Hybrids. The key to solve the problem is to destroy the nomad which us has only piece created and that key is a young girl who was created by the wife or protagonist.

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani
(2023)

One can easily skip this wish I had
It took me 3 sittings on three different days to finish this 3 hour amalgamation of various block buster from yash raj and his own banner. At one point it look like gender role reversed mohabatein with jaya taking the role of ab and alia taking the role of srk. The movie try to give a message but it fails. You can't connect with any of the character other than that of tota roy. Ranveer as usual is in his usual loud colorful cartoonist behaviour. Alia tries to compensate her acting skills with low cut blouses and talk about feminism. This review may seem harsh as after watching Vaccine war my expectations are raised.

Pyaasa
(1957)

2023 Review of an avid movie buff
Pyaasa (1957) is a Hindi-language musical drama film written, directed, produced, and co-edited by Guru Dutt. The film stars Dutt as Vijay, a struggling poet who is misunderstood and rejected by society. He finds solace in the love of a prostitute, Gulabo (Waheeda Rehman), but their relationship is ultimately doomed.

Pyaasa is a masterpiece of Indian cinema. It is a visually stunning film with a powerful and moving story. Dutt's direction is masterful, and he creates a world that is both realistic and dreamlike. The performances are all excellent, with Dutt giving a tour-de-force performance as Vijay. The music is also beautiful, with some of the most memorable songs in Hindi cinema.

Pyaasa is a film that is both timeless and timely. It is a story about the power of art and the importance of love in a world that is often cruel and indifferent. It is a film that will stay with you long after you have seen it.

Here are some of the things that I loved about Pyaasa:

The story: The story of Pyaasa is both heartbreaking and hopeful. Vijay is a character who is easy to root for, and his journey is both inspiring and tragic.

The characters: The characters in Pyaasa are all complex and well-developed. Vijay, Gulabo, and even the supporting characters are all believable and relatable.

The music: The music in Pyaasa is some of the best in Hindi cinema. The songs are beautiful, haunting, and unforgettable.

The cinematography: The cinematography in Pyaasa is stunning. The film is full of memorable images that will stay with you long after you have seen it.

Here are some of the things that I didn't like about Pyaasa:

The pacing: The film can be a bit slow at times, especially in the first half.

The ending: The ending of Pyaasa is a bit ambiguous, and it may not be to everyone's taste.

Overall, I loved Pyaasa. It is a masterpiece of Indian cinema that is sure to stay with you long after you have seen it. If you have not seen it, I highly recommend checking it out.

Asur: Welcome to Your Dark Side
(2020)

Potential of becoming cult classic (Season 2
Asur Season 2 is a crime thriller web series that follows the CBI's investigation into a series of murders that are linked to the ancient Hindu mythology of Kali and Kalki. The series stars Arshad Warsi, Barun Sobti, Abhishek Chauhan, and Amey Wagh.

Asur Season 2 picks up right where Season 1 left off, with the CBI still reeling from the revelation that the serial killer they were hunting was actually a brilliant forensic scientist named Shub Joshi (Arshad Warsi). Shub has escaped from custody and is now on the loose, and he's determined to continue his killing spree in order to prove his twisted theory that Kali will eventually destroy humanity.

The CBI team, led by Dhananjay Rajpoot (Barun Sobti), is determined to stop Shub before he can kill again. But Shub is a formidable opponent, and he's using his knowledge of science and technology to stay one step ahead of the CBI. He's also using the ancient myth of Kali to manipulate his victims and the public.

Asur Season 2 is a well-made and suspenseful thriller that offers a unique blend of mythology and technology. The performances are all excellent, with Warsi and Sobti giving particularly memorable turns. The series is also visually stunning, with some impressive special effects.

However, Asur Season 2 does have a few flaws. The plot can be a bit convoluted at times, and the pacing can be a bit slow in some episodes. The series also relies a bit too heavily on twists and turns, which can make it feel a bit predictable at times.

Overall, Asur Season 2 is a solid crime thriller that offers a unique and entertaining take on the genre. Fans of the first season will definitely want to check it out, and new viewers who are looking for a suspenseful and well-made thriller should also give it a try.

Here are some of the things that I liked about Asur Season 2:

The performances: Arshad Warsi and Barun Sobti are both excellent in their roles, and they bring a lot of depth and complexity to their characters. Abhishek Chauhan and Amey Wagh are also great in supporting roles.

The story: The story is well-paced and suspenseful, and it offers a unique blend of mythology and technology. There are some great twists and turns along the way, and the ending is satisfying.

The visuals: The series is visually stunning, with some impressive special effects. The cinematography is also excellent, and it helps to create a dark and atmospheric tone.

Here are some of the things that I didn't like about Asur Season 2:

The plot can be a bit convoluted at times. There are a lot of moving parts, and it can be hard to keep track of everything that's going on.

The pacing can be a bit slow in some episodes. The series is 9 episodes long, and it could have been trimmed down a bit.

The series relies a bit too heavily on twists and turns. There are so many twists and turns that it can be hard to keep track of them all, and they start to feel a bit predictable after a while.

Overall, I enjoyed Asur Season 2. It's a well-made and suspenseful thriller that offers a unique and entertaining take on the genre. Fans of the first season will definitely want to check it out, and new viewers who are looking for a suspenseful and well-made thriller should also give it a try.

The first season was top notch and after it ended I had withdrawal symptoms like something is missing from my life. The adult version of Shubh was a disappointment to be honest. The young one was menacing, calculative and intelligent. The adult version is impulsive and reckless. The use of hacking and social media is overused and oversimplified. Its not that easy to hack and this is coming from someone who is in cyber security field. This is has some resemblance with Dan Brown style story telling.

(2022)

It could have been much more
When you are copying a western tv series and indianised it and you try to keep the elements of the its western original often leads to a half baked item. That neither lives to its original nor the indian version's expectations.

Acting wise the newbies dialog delivery looks blend at times. Huma is good. The choices made by his husband seems so stupid and unbelievable.

Also the pacing is not good. And the whole series would be more sharper and crispier if we can cut down one or two episodes.

The cinematography is really good and bg music sets the tone for the series.

Shooting in doon wad a good choice.

Killing Eve
(2018)

Should have ended after Season 2
If it wasn't for Jodi Comer's powerful acting, I would have stopped at season 2.

Killing Eve is a British spy thriller television series created by Phoebe Waller-Bridge. It follows the story of Eve Polastri (Sandra Oh), a bored MI5 security officer who becomes obsessed with catching psychopathic assassin Villanelle (Jodie Comer). The series is known for its dark humor, complex characters, and stylish visuals.

Killing Eve has received critical acclaim, with praise for Waller-Bridge's writing, Oh and Comer's performances, and the show's overall suspensefulness. The series has won numerous awards, including a Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series - Drama and a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series.

The show's average rating on Rotten Tomatoes is 96%, based on 356 reviews. On Metacritic, the series has a weighted average score of 85 out of 100, based on 42 critics, indicating "universal acclaim".

Overall, Killing Eve is a well-made and entertaining show with a lot to offer. It is a must-watch for fans of spy thrillers, dark comedies, and complex characters.

Here are some of the pros and cons of the show:

Pros: Excellent writing Riveting performances Stylish visuals Dark humor Suspenseful plot

Cons: Some violence may be too graphic for some viewers The show can be slow-paced at times The ending of season 4 was divisive.

Sandra Oh's character make stupid mistakes at times when you consider the job post she is holding.

Bhediya
(2022)

Movie that we need more in our cinemas
Bhediya, Bollywood's first creature comedy, is set in the lush forests of Northeastern India. The movie follows Bhaskar, a road construction contractor who is bitten by a wolf and begins to transform into a werewolf. Despite its lengthy runtime, the film is a fun ride that delivers pro-environment and anti-racism messages. While the visuals and 3D effects are praised, the messy storyline and inorganic humor leave much to be desired. The film is described as an Indianized version of the werewolf story with a social message. Varun Dhawan's acting is average, while Kriti Sanon has limited screen time. Overall, Bhediya is an average film that falls short of expectations, especially compared to director Amar Kaushik's previous successes with Stree and Bala.

Expedition Amelia
(2019)

WAIT!!!! WAIT!!!!
The famous last words by one of the pioneer aviatrix who never took no for an answer.

Certainly! "Expedition Amelia" is a fascinating TV movie that explores the disappearance of aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart during her attempted flight around the world in 1937. The film chronicles the modern-day efforts of a team of scientists and historians to solve the mystery of Earhart's disappearance, using cutting-edge technology to search for clues. While the pacing can be slow at times, the film is elevated by its engaging subject matter and the passion of the experts involved. Overall, "Expedition Amelia" is a must-watch for anyone interested in Earhart's legacy and the enduring mystery of her final flight.

Amelia
(2009)

Strong acting let down by poor story line
Starring Hilary Swank as the legendary aviator Amelia Earhart, the film tells the story of her groundbreaking career, her relationship with her husband George Putnam (Richard Gere), and her mysterious disappearance during a flight over the Pacific Ocean in 1937.

While Swank delivers a convincing performance as Earhart, the film as a whole falls short of its potential. The pacing is slow and the script lacks depth, leaving the audience feeling somewhat disconnected from the characters and their struggles.

That being said, the film's cinematography and production design are impressive, transporting the viewer to a bygone era of aviation and adventure. Overall, while Amelia may not be a perfect film, it is worth watching for Swank's performance and the stunning visuals.

Creation
(2009)

Opportunity lost
Movie Review: Creation (2009)

Creation is a biographical drama film released in 2009, directed by Jon Amiel and starring Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connolly. The movie is based on the life of Charles Darwin, the father of the theory of evolution, and his struggles to balance his work and family life.

The movie chronicles the journey of Darwin as he tries to put together his infamous book "On the Origin of Species." The film focuses on the inner turmoil and conflict that Darwin faced as he struggled to reconcile his scientific beliefs with his religious faith, which was deeply rooted in him.

Bettany delivers a powerful performance as Darwin, showcasing the character's emotional and intellectual depth. Connolly also shines in her role as Darwin's wife, Emma, who is portrayed as a devout Christian and the voice of reason in their household.

The cinematography and production design are breathtaking, transporting the audience to the 19th century and immersing them in the world of Darwin.

Overall, Creation is a thought-provoking and emotionally charged film that offers a unique perspective on the life and work of one of the most important figures in science. The movie is a must-watch for anyone interested in Darwin's life and the history of science.

The Little Mermaid
(2018)

Not to be mixed with Disney Live Action
Most of the reviews that are posted here and the ratings are for the live action Disney movie as some reviewer also mentioned wrong skin color and hair color. This movie does revolve around a mermaid but follows new story line. Its about an uncle trying to find a cure for her sick niece who happens to have the heart of mermaid.

Sloppy at times weak acting all around, poor story line the director's or production house wants only to mint in the name of The Little Mermaid. A cheap stunt gone wrong.

The Whale
(2022)

Superb Acting. A tale of Greif, death and redemption
This is a story of man who lost the will to live but hasn't lost the art of seeing positive and something beautiful in others. The lead actor Brandon Fraser's comeback movie after absence of almost 10 years. He is morbidly obese and confined to his small apartment and the movie is shot 4:3 ratio to give the viewers the sense of confinement. The teenage daughter hard to understand due to her disgust and revolting nature until the end where we also got to see which her dad has seen since the beginning that she is awesome. The movie is also about being honest to yourself do what makes you happy and loved.

Movie that reminds us the fragility of life.

India: The Modi Question
(2023)

India: The Paradox
I just watched the thrilling IPL final in Amdavad one of the main cities shown in the first episode.

The British media and their stooges are still doing this after 76 years of Independance. People calling it a well-balanced and researched show are blinding by their personal bigotry. The show is one-sided campaign against Modi.

Time for some fact checking. There are more Muslim living in India then Muslim majority countries like Bangladesh & Egypt. India is also the country of largest group Muslims living peacefully. The show has worked hard to destroy this narrative and I appreciate the stance of Indian government.

The show is working hard to portray that Muslim.

The real reason was never shown why Modi government removed Article 370 from J&K. Why a BJP spokeperson has .
