Final Analysis
(1992)

Screen magic of yesteryears psychological thrillers...
right from its opening credits, final analysis takes u to the mystico-glamorous era of those amazing films noirs of the 50's..the breathtaking settings, the glamorous but twisted blonde, the haunting yet chilling score echoing Bernard Hermann's Hitchcock era.

the movie has a classy feel to it.sparks fly when Kim basinger makes her appearance,in a red dress a la Grace kelly.uma Thurman is very good in her role, and keeps her enigmatic facade till the end.

if u're familiar with Hitchcock's Vertigo,u will find its echoes, similar settings and landmarks of san Francisco serving as background to this solid thriller.

i've seen many movies of this genre,i've seen vertigo, obsession, basic instinct, and many more.this movie is UNDERRATED.it's one of the best in its genre!

Basic Instinct 2
(2006)

GET REAL PEOPLE,watch it first.
LESS MAJESTIC than it's predecessor,BI2 came out 14 years later, and the waiting made the audience's expectations grow enormously, and in the meantime,Sharon reached 40..the N0-NO age-to-be in Hollywood. Even before it was released,BI2 was hued by the critics=the audience. Audiences going to see BI2 already know who and what Catherine is,unlike in the first part where we had to find the identity of the killer and i think that BI2 should've taken us into an immersion of Catherine's private world, instead it's an exact replica of the first BI,with less suspense and much less screen magic. The direction by Michael caton-jones is doubty and really fails to grip ur attention.Too bad cause Catherine's superb character is somewhat wasted by mediocre direction and screenplay.. u can even sense that Catherine in BI2 is a bit over the top,and we don't see any of that brilliant passionate evil yet vulnerable persona, instead she's dry and plastic but her manipulation is so delicious. SO, BI2 doesn't live up to the standard of the first part, but it's not bad either.could have been great with better direction.

North by Northwest
(1959)

Fun,fast paced and entertaining Hitchcock ,but don't expect depth,
North by northwest is the 5th Hitchcock movie that i've seen, and knowing it's in the top 100 of the best movies ever made,i've had really high expectations..well i wasn't disappointed but i admit that it wasn't what i expected.the direction and visuals are grandiose, the camera angles and the photography, simply beautiful, especially the mount Rushmore final confrontation. But it lacks Hitchcock's taste of macabre, human satire and depth but that's mainly due to the fact that North b n was intended to be different from the earlier Hitchcock movies by having more action and less mystery and drama.this formula pleased the audiences back then but i believe that this is NOT Hitchcock's masterpiece,it has none of that subtle haunting mystery of vertigo,psycho...eva marie saint has a really great character, while cary grant can be annoying sometimes...North by northwest is more like a commercial blockbuster that's really enjoyable to watch but doesn't really linger in ur mind forever...

The Birds
(1963)

slightly overrated Hitchcock...shocking,but dull and superficial...
i bought this movie while i was passing through a "hitchcockian" phase.it all started by buying vertigo after reading all the good reviews, and i really liked it.then my second pick was psycho which i already saw on TV,but really watching it on DVD was different,i loved it.then i bought the birds, supposedly another masterpiece...i was slightly disappointed, the characters are underdeveloped, the storyline is one-dimensional,the whole concept of the movie is more like a documentary than a real movie(especially a Hitchcock movie). ...........but,the birds really is a shocking and strange film and it has it's share of hitchcockian black humor.i guess if u deal with the fact that this movie has no musical score,no plot,no character development and no real human emotion,then...u may love it.but if u want real Hitchcock, try "vertigo","psycho","rear window" and the less notorious but perfect "notorious".

Basic Instinct
(1992)

cult movie that indulges your deepest darkest instincts,
This is easily one of my favorites!it has a great setting in cult San Francisco,a haunting musical score that echoes that of Vertigo,an extraordinary main character..and an interesting plot..Oh yes,Sharon. She's deliciously evil in her portrayal of the dark Catherine Tramell.I love the dramatization of her first on-screen appearances, the way it's all put together on screen is magnificent. the imagery of the movie is breathtaking, the sea,the waves, the sunny streets of San francisco... the sexual desire in the movie is a great deal of the plot and it builds to a climax towards the end,and in the interrogation scene (which is really a defining moment in cinema history). The sex scenes in the movie are very beautifully filmed with an extremely awesome score and the animosity between Michael and Sharon contrasts with the extremely classy and mystique music of these scenes. there are some plot holes, but it doesn't matter ,basic instinct gives you a memorable cinematic experience that touches your deepest instincts and fulfills your expectations ,it's a great thriller with mystery, suspense and witt!!!.
