The Pale Blue Eye
(2022)

I loved it!
I figured out the murderer right away. The only reason I kept watching this is because Edgar Alan Poe was in it. I was really taken with the actor who played him, and of course Christian Bale is lovely eye candy. The ending between Poe and the murderer was just mesmerizing. I was transfixed. Poe's face confronting and empathizing with the murderer was just amazing!

I had tuned out for a bit during the movie, so I didn't really understand the scene with the bonfire and the sacrificing of a man or at least blood leading him. I just really enjoyed the movie. I thought it was really well acted I thought it was a good storyline and easy to follow, overall.

The Empty Man
(2020)

I did not understand this movie at all.
Were Paul and James the same person? If not, what happened to Paul? Who is who? And who died at the funeral? The same guy in the hospital bed? Was he the husband of the blonde woman? Was the whole thing in James' head? I gave it three stars because it was very scary. However, because I had no idea what was going on, I didn't give it any more stars.

And the guy at the event who is trying to explain the place to him, was just rambling on and on. I think that was one point of the movie that it didn't make sense what people were saying, and the movie didn't make sense, and it was very uncomfortable and disturbing.

The Housekeeper
(2023)

There's bad, and then there's this movie.
Spoiler alert! I don't understand this movie at all.

So who gave birth to the boy in the attic? Was it the guy's wife or the maid? And what happened to the first maid? Where is she? And what happened to the second maid? Yes, she was killed, but is her body stashed somewhere.

And who the heck was Sheila?

Also, the acting was bad and Denise Richards really went overboard with the plastic surgery I gave it two stars because when the maid went up to the attic, that was pretty creepy both when she took the sheet off the dummy, and when she saw the dead boy I broke my rule. That is, my rule is to not watch things that are under five stars. However, I did this time. Serves me right I learned my lesson.

Totenfrau
(2022)

Um Hello! Can you say "plot holes?"
What the heck was that? OK so towards the middle you just start hating this woman because she's so incredibly evil. And then you find out her husband is just as evil but there are so many plot holes. So the priest is like "your parents wanted to return you they thought they were something wrong with you, but I convinced him to keep you" she ends up killing her parents and saying it's better they're dead so we have no idea, why or when she was adopted, or what her biological background is. Why did she kill her parents? Yeah they were mean. But what else did they do to her besides verbally abuse her and make her lie in a casket? Yes, that's horrible. It is terrible child abuse,, but there's a whole story there with her parents and her background. We need to know more about this woman's background, especially the adoption angle.

47 Meters Down
(2017)

excellent!
I loved this movie! It kept my attention. There were a lot of "jumps and scares." I wasn't sure if the people on the boat were going to help them or leave them. It kept me guessing.

No One Gets Out Alive
(2021)

more questions than answers
I didn't understand the ending, and I didn't understand the monster. What was the monster? Why was it there? Where did it come from? Who is the mother really the monster?

Was the woman able to leave the house at the end?

Other than that it was a pretty good scare.

Hachi: A Dog's Tale
(2009)

tear jerker
I don't know how anyone can watch this without sobbing their head off.

It's a beautiful story that's based on a true story. It's just so sad. It makes me want to go to Japan and see the statue. Bring tissues!

Behind Her Eyes
(2021)

mind blowing!
Huge twist, well done! I watched the T. V. show and then read the book. I think I liked the show better. The TV show is pretty close to the book.

I would watch this more than once because once you find out what's really going on, it's good to watch it again.

Intrusion
(2021)

stupid
Who leaves their own house party? Who? Way to raise suspicion. She and her husband are throwing a party and she disappears for probably 30 to 40 minutes. Ridiculous. Doesn't she think she's going to be missed? Won't that tip off her husband?

Cobra Kai
(2018)

if you like people fighting and being bullied, this is the show for you
All the show is is people fighting and being bullied. I get there's a bigger picture about the relationships between the characters, but it's just so annoying that there's so much physical abuse and people aren't filing charges against people. If those were my kids and they were getting beaten up by other kids, the cops will be called and charges would be filed. The guy who leads Cobra Kai would've been arrested by now in real life. None of the stuff would be able to take place. Every other scene is somebody just fighting. Also, why are these grown men still hanging onto the stupid rivalry? Get a life!

The best thing about this show is the music, otherwise it's just disturbing and depressing and annoying.

Midnight Mass
(2021)

wow. Just wow.
It was really graphic, but it was excellent. I was just wowed. Give it up for Mike Flanagan!

The Guest
(2014)

weird
This movie was weird, and I do not know what the reviews are referring to when they say a lot of 80s reference. I lived through the 80s, and I'm still not sure. Are you saying it's like Terminator? I think that is a stretch.

Anna
(2013)

pretty good
Overall, I thought this was pretty good. I didn't understand the ending, however. Did John's wife actually leave him and remarry and he implanted a memory that she killed her self? Also what was the deal with the photograph that Anna sent?

Unknown
(2011)

Excellent movie with a Twist!
I love Liam Neeson, so maybe I am a bit biased, but this movie was excellent! I did not see that twist coming!

Highly recommended!

Secrets and Lies
(2015)

Edge of your Seat Thriller!
I loved this! Season one was a great "who done it" because you keep thinking you know who killed the boy.

The second season was better than the first, in my option. I was totally captivated! Excellent!

I am just super disappointed that the show ended.

Case Histories
(2011)

I hated the ending!
As good as the series was, the ending sucked. It was so depressing! He and Louise should've ended up together, and he should've gotten a paternity test for that baby.

The Farmer and the Belle: Saving Santaland
(2020)

What a feel good movie!
I loved this movie! It was a feel good Christmas movie with great music and a strong message. I hope you get a chance to watch it.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark
(2019)

It was okay.
Goof: Ramon's last name was Rodriguez, but the police officer called him something else.

12 Pups of Christmas
(2019)

The main character is NOT likeable!
She is supposed to be a therapist, albeit a dog therapist, but she can't even work on her own relationship with her fiancé. Instead of having a conversation with him, she passive aggressively storms away from the dining room table. it's ridiculous. No wonder fiancé broke up with her.

Witness for the Prosecution
(1957)

wow! I did not see that coming!
This is an excellent movie. The only reason I gave it 9 stars instead of 10 is because of the way the lawyer treated his staff. That was uncomfortable. I highly recommend this movie.

Melancholia
(2011)

There are bad movies, and then there is Melancholia
Never see this movie. In the words of someone I know "If Hell had a movie section, this would be in it." Also, if you have suffered from severe depression, there are scenes in here that can trigger that memory. They did for me. Not good! It was horrible! I was half way in to it and there still was not mention of the planet hitting the Earth. Please do NOT watch this movies. Tell everyone you know to steer clear of it as well.

Mother!
(2017)

VERY heavy; deep, disturbing
I read the spoilers first so I could understand what was going on in the movie. I get the point of it, but it was a negative look at religion and humanity. I guess that was the point. It was very deep and very disturbing in parts. I did not really like it.

I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House
(2016)

Very slow and very boring
Don't waste your time. The best thing about this movie is the narration. It's full of similes. It would be a good way to teach an English class about similes. It's a good example of a Gothic film and had a plot, but it just did not hold my interest. Also, parts of the story contradicted itself. I would not recommend this film. I was disappointed.

Hell House LLC
(2015)

Absolutely one of the best horror films I have ever seen!
This is absolutely one of the best horror films I have ever seen! I thought it would be another silly "found footage" films, but I was pleasantly surprised. I am in my fifties. I have seen a lot of scary movies. This one held my interest and had a strong plot. It scared me plenty of times. I highly recommend this film.

Arctic Tale
(2006)

An important film *spoilers*
When I started watching this movie I had no idea what it was about. At the end of the movie, I was in tears. This film shows the effect that global warming has on the polar bear and seal. Global warming is a real threat to our environment! Hats off to the people who risk their lives filming these animals so that we understand the affect global warming has on our environment. Renewable energy is important. I loved the ending when the children gave tips on how to prevent global warming. Something as simple as turning off the lights after leaving the room can help. This film also personalizes the animals by showing the love love between the "family members." I loved the music as well. This film was well done!
