The Receptionist
(2016)

Excellent and riveting
The film provides an in depth look into the hidden lives of foreigners doing illicit work to survive and provide for their families. And all the drama that comes about because of that.

In this genre there are very few movies on the topic. This one really manages to hit the ball out the park.

Their are multiple extraordinary scenes that show what these people go through and makes one want to tear up.

I am sure this was probably quite a low budget film but the cinematography was well done.

The acting was good with believable characters. The subtitles were done well as a majority of the conversations are not in English. Some of the plot points could have had more backstory.

PVT CHAT
(2020)

Raw depiction of internet addiction
PVT CHAT shows a surprisingly accurate depiction of many pornography/internet/technology addicts now days. One of the few movies I've seen dealing with these topical issues. Explores unique concepts. However still manages to be playful and funny at the same time. Although it is definitely not for everybody.

Other reviews imply it to be erotica and are therefore disappointed. It is clearly not.

The cinematography is excellent. It is shot through a fish eye lens to give the perspective of viewing the entire movie through a webcam. Which fits in nicely.

Ironically filmed before COVID and Uncut Gems.

Buffalo '66
(1998)

Interesting movie
Shows the perspective of a social outcast and slowly reveals the causes of his personality. Such as his parents, upbringing etc.

Still enjoyable and applicable even in 2022 maybe more now so than ever with the internet and the separation from reality it allows. Such as a 4chan echochamber incarnation.
