Love N Quarantine
(2022)

No chemistry
The audience first has to feel connected to the main characters to buy into their emotional journey. The couple lacks natural chemistry and the setup feels forced. I'm not sure why I should care about these people. The movie is way too long and there is little to say that hasn't been said in dozens of other stories.

Break Every Chain
(2021)

Slow pacing but speaks to its audience
For being a low budget production it's well shot. It's definitely for the faith based audience and preaches to the choir. The story could be tightened and much of the melodramatic music and scenes could be cut. A stronger script would have helped but it's still a worthwhile watch.

Independence Day at the Museum
(2020)

Family holiday movie
Saw this at a film festival. Great concept mixing animated transitions with muppet style lead characters interacting with the human Founding Fathers. There is a lot of subtle humor in it for film buffs. Quite clever. This is something the kids will enjoy but the parents will find equally entertaining on a different level. And you actually might learn a few things as you laugh along the way.

American Underdog
(2021)

Inspiring and heartfelt
What a great personal story. Well directed, acted, written and produced. Even if you don't like football this is a movie you can watch and not be bored. The personal journey is touching.

Sam and Elvis
(2018)

Unique and touching
One might think that having a taxidermied dog as a focal point would be irreverent with low class humor but this is actually a cleverly written character piece. All of the main characters are multi dimensional and the story hits on some serious topics without being contrived. The actors do a nice job of bringing honesty to their individual plight. Daykin is grounded in her portrayal as a widower set in her ways. Danner brings a real honesty to the adoptive mother. This is a nice little movie that touches your emotions and makes you care about their situation. Foster care and adoption impacts more people than you think.

Poirot
(1989)

Enjoyable evening
It's always an enjoyable evening to watch one of these episodes. Cleverly written and shot and it usually takes multiple viewings of an episode to catch all of the intricate details. Grab a glass of wine and put on your detective cap.
