The Fame Game
(2022)

What they hide behind their beautiful lives .
The Fame Game is marketed as a thriller and if you forgive the first 20 minutes or so it begins to grow but then often is watered down by family drama and bad dialogue writing at the beginning of series, you would wonder that too while watching it how those lines get through in the final cut . Getting back to the other part of the series , parts about disappearance and investigation and as story unfolds with reasons for it are much entertaining , watchable and holds you on to the screen then what goes around with other things that I found unnecessary in the story and series . Series does have its moments when story , narrative and atmosphere builds up but if you have been watching lots of thrillers and mysteries lately you would see those things and storyline coming from miles away while you might find similarities with few other movies and series made in past in English and foreign languages . Madhuri Dixit does what she does very well and fans would not be disappointed at all , Rajshri Deshpande needs special mention along with other cast members like Manav Kaul and Suhasini Mulay . If script-writing and editing could have been better it would have been one of those acclaimed series but it falls short of it .

Give it a try for Madhuri Dixit and have patience as it is that you would need . Again Rajshri Deshpande and Manav Kaul need special mention for their acting . I will go for a strong seven but I am still hesitating for an eight.

Cat Burglar
(2022)

Interactive trip down memory lane of animation shorts with punch of entertainment
Cat Burglar's animation along with its music and voice overs reminded me of old classical cartoons which were before my time and I like watching them growing up hence Cat Burglar took me on a trip down the memory lane , it not only brought nostalgia but entertainment for me . As for the interactive feature, even being minimal I found it fascinating compared to previous series or movies put out by Netflix because every-time you make a wrong choice you get different experience and animation short and for the correct choices there lies more fun and action ahead . When you give wrong answers you get three lives before you go to heaven or hell thereafter and after that you indeed get another chance .For correct choices there is a story line , surprisingly good . Questions for choices are not boring, pay attention to them you might find them amusing and if you could not find answers first a few times pay attention there is a cheat method , even if you don't find one just enjoy the cartoon .It does have several Easter eggs and homages to old cartoons. It indeed entertained me and served with nostalgia of classical animated shorts .

Give it a try and be patient at the beginning. My rating is a strong eight ,maybe a nine.

Heart Shot
(2022)

Heart "Shot" Indeed
It was not what I expected it would be from what I read from synopsis but then I was pleasantly surprised.

As i mentioned before it is a big surprise in small running time. While every scene sequence of this 15 minute short adds something new it feels more like a pitch for a movie or the series and it deserves to have one . Acting , action and direction are to the point . Elena Heuze needs special mention for her acting so does Marielle Woods for her direction . Tune and background score at the end of the short remained with me for minutes .

It surely is 15 minute full of entertainment and I hope in future we get an extended version of it in the form of a movie or series , probably .

A Thursday
(2022)

A sensitive subject handled with mediocre piece of fiction
Regarding the movie it is an average movie with better performances from Yami Gautam , Neha Duphia and Atul Kulkarni while they are handed bad dialogues and weak script to make matter worse it has wrongly placed background music and some really bad acting from side characters for an example the parents of children and even though one does not want to be critical about it , it is visible . Certain things in this movie are unbelievably bad such as the plot surrounding the Prime Minister or the temporary control room that is set up or the presentation of the journalism . If moviemakers had given some time to the research both regarding the hostage situation and the motive , it could have been a sensible and better film but this certainly is not .

After watching the movie I feel astonished and ridiculed how such a sensitive issue and human trauma is handled with a below par script and just made into a movie for the advantage of their own unless out of my or our knowledge writers and producers are donating the money for the cause . While it is neither realistic nor it handles the topic (issue) which is the motive of the lead character with care rather than using it to manipulate the audience to create the high note which doesn't add awareness for the issue and surely damages the cause rather than helping it .

There are so many other real ways to help the cause rather than being manipulated for the run time of the movie for the advantage of the movie-makers .

BigBug
(2022)

"Homo Ridiculus" with aesthetics.
Bigbug is Jean-Pierre Jeunet's return to french cinema after more than a decade . It has exquisite and extraordinary production design but story fails to delivers in accordance with visual art . It was an experience similar to visiting a Michelin star restaurant with exceptional ambiance but getting served mediocre food .

"Homo Ridiculus" with genuine aesthetics.

Gehraiyaan
(2022)

Just meaningless waves , without any depth
Its journey of 148 minutes (including 16 minutes of pre and post credits) which finally takes you nowhere , neither its realistic nor it's entertaining to disappoint me further its not even as dark as I thought it would be . If you can sail through the first ninety minutes which will surely test your patience and intelligence then you will be rewarded for the last 40 minutes but when it concludes it feels like the writer could not handle the force he had unleashed in third act and leaves the end very conveniently where it does . Movie does try to add something with very last scene but then its credit leaves you with a movie which you would forget sooner than the time you had spent anticipating watching it after coming across the trailer or promotions .

In the first two acts of this movie most scene sequences are cut abruptly when it moves from one to another and it's noticeable . What seemed to be good cinematography from trailer isn't so in the movie , with mediocre scenes and the wave you see in trailer is the only wave you will see across the movie . Performance of Deepika Padukone is commendable but I feel it fails to be memorable given the weak and forgettable script . Naseeruddin Shah and Rajat Kapoor do their job with perfection in the limited time they are allotted and for other actors you can judge them with your perspective and taste as you go on a hectic journey but for me they were not that enchanting . Back stories and past of each character which seem much more interesting than what is going on in the present are never explored except small flashbacks and in dialogues.

Only thing that would leave a long impact on you is the song Gehraiyaan by Lothika except that everything else is unnecessary noise which you won't regret even if you don't watch this movie .

Special Mention : Movie explores the theme of infidelity ,depression and trauma but never gives real weight to either of these topics and lets it just flow like meaningless waves instead of depth.
