Punk's Not Dead
(2007)

Where were Descendents?
Watched this again after many years as I remembered it coming out. Not a bad documentary although they stretched a bit with Good Charlotte being punk. However there was no mention or acknowledgement of Descendents! They pioneered melodic punk in the late 70s up to present day and influenced most of if not all the bands that followed. Very odd that they were not included. Not bad overall but some of the bands they tried to tell us were punk were a bit of a stretch. Trying to stay relevant at the time maybe to bring in new fans? Who knows. Just do another one and for gods sake include DESCENDENTS!

The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh: Find Her, Keep Her
(1988)
Episode 4, Season 1

One for the parents
I had this on VHS as a child and when I saw that the series was on Disney Plus I just had to watch them with my daughter, as she loves Winnie the Pooh.

I remember the story of this particular episode being a little sad as a child, but as a first time father sitting there with my 16 month old daughter, I now truly understand why.

It's filled with the usual humour that you can expect from Winnie the Pooh and this brilliant series but, where this episode is special is that it is the story of a parent/child relationship, the journey of becoming a parent and having to let go.

I must admit there were multiple times throughout the episode that I felt myself tearing up watching it back with my daughter on my lap. Rabbit shows the emotions of what every parent feels as well as their fears that can lead to selfishness.

I have no doubt that this episode was written by a parent as it displays the immense love you have for a child, even showing how Rabbit would do anything for Kessie including risk his own safety/life to protect her.

Of course, it's not all tear jerking. There are multiple laugh out loud moments from Pooh, Piglet, Tigger and Owl in the story but where it really hits home is the relationship between Rabbit and Kessie.

A wonderful story that stands the test of time 35 years after it was made.

Only Murders in the Building
(2021)

Brilliant cast, brilliant writing, Whitty and at the same time giving you twists and turns
I won't spoil this for anyone...

This series is just brilliant. Two seasons in and season two finished just as strong as season one. I've always loved Steve Martin and as usual he is brilliant but I think that Martin Shaw just about steals the show with his brilliant eccentric character. However all three of the leads ( Selena Gomez really shines and is equally as funny as the other two ) and the supporting cast are equally great.

There isn't anything like it around at the moment and I think that's a very good thing. A Breath of fresh air and it's great to see Martin and Shaw still at it. Comedy geniuses.

Can't wait for season three

A Must watch!

Spider-Man: No Way Home
(2021)

Could this be the greatest comic book film of all time?
Firstly, I'm a big spidey fan. I've loved all the actors who played them but I do consider Tom Holland the best out of the three.

I don't want to post any spoilers how ever obvious they might seem to some, because I know people who still know nothing about this film but I have to say, WHAT A FILM!!

I didn't want it to end! Probably the best film to come out of the MCU. Up there with Infinity War...I think it could be better.

I can't think of anything bad about this film but there was one part I wasn't sure on...a certain line...but it didn't devalue it for me in any way. It was just different and I didn't expect it to come where it came from.

And that bridge fight is even better than the train fight.

A MUST WATCH for all Spider-Man fans.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
(1989)

They don't make them like this anymore...
...and how I wish they did. Maybe it's my age, clinging on to the nostalgia of my childhood favourites but the Indiana Jones films just have something about them. That sense of tongue in cheek humour and adventure combined that the likes of Disney still manage to create today...but it doesn't feel quite the same.

This is my favourite of the trilogy. Ford and Connery are superb and the one liners ( sometimes subtle ) are endless. Plus they brought back Salah as a character and I'm a Welshman so that strikes a good chord with me.

Anyway. It's brilliant.

If you haven't seen this then you must have been in the tomb with the knight all this time....

Heat
(1995)

My favourite film of all time
If you haven't seen it - then watch it.

Two of the greatest actors of our time supported by other brilliant performances ( Kilmer especially).

Influenced many films that followed ( Especially The Dark Knight - there are so many comparables ).

It never gets old. Introduced my wife to it and she told me she didn't want it to end.

A masterpiece.

The Batman
(2022)

Wow
This film is brilliant.

The cast are spot on. Pattinson is a great Batman with Wright being probably the best Gordon we have seen on screen ( and he had some really big boots to fill, let's be honest) - Kravitz is great, Dano is disturbing and Farrell...well, you forget it's him - his DeNiro inspired take on The Penguin is brilliant.

Love the look of Gotham, the story and how see Bruce Wayne before he develops the persona we all know and love.

The only people that seem to dislike this film are Dark Knight fan boys. Time change. Respect the past and embrace the future and the future of Batman looks great to me!
