Lies of P
(2023)

Impressive storytelling and gameplay
As a souls fan I was skeptical about playing this game, and the game dragged me in by its fangs and took me to places I could never predict in my adulthood gaming experiences.

Let's start with the story, its a dark and grim adaptation on the well known Pinocchio story, with nice little twists and adaptations. Won't spoil anything here but it sure does it well. With the dark world and adult themes, and great voice acting as well.

Now for combat. It is polished and pretty tight, don't expect to go into the game and brute force it all the way, sure you can do that for the early game bosses, but eventually they will throw all the mechanics into to the game and you will be forced to adapt. It is not a combat I'm used to therefore I struggled with the game, but it was sooo satisfying beating that one boss you died 30 times because you mastered it and all its moves.

Overall it's the best soulslike I have ever played and it seem like the developers truly put their heart and souls into the game. I would go even as far as saying its better then a few souls games itself. So go ahead and try the game out its worth every penny and you will learn to be good at games again.

Dead Space
(2023)

Back to the good old days
I recently wrote a review on the Callisto Protocol and really praised the game for its simplicity. It was honestly just more of the same as we got back in the original Dead Space with a few more layers on combat so I think its a fair thing comparing both games.

Lets start by the dissonance between the two. I played both games on Medium difficulty and the differences between the two are really there. I simply cannot count the amount of deaths I got playing The Callisto Protocol, the reasons being resource management, "hand to hand" combat and overall slow pace of the game. Things I didn't get playing Dead Space (maybe I should play in a higher difficulty) I died a total of 3 times playing the game and NONE of them were from enemies, just the environment. The health system in Dead Space is really simple and doesn't put you in the edge as your heath is getting lower. Something that was criticized a lot in The Callisto Protocol, but for me, especially after the patch were it was a faster to heal, adds up another layer of "tenseness" in combat.

Now whats both games got wrong is the bosses for me, just bland to be honest. The real boss of the games is when you are crowded by enemies. But in Dead Space you just had an abundant amount of "bullets" to be spent in those moments, in Callisto you had more of a challenge controlling the swarming enemies.

Now in terms of performance, for me DS played better, more fluid, and faster without taking the heavy movements from the character. As well in frame rates, I can't recall a time were it dropped frames, but in CP it dropped a lot of times.

Both tell similar "tales" as well, nothing to be astonished by but interesting little stories.

So after this comparison I'm gonna impose a question was Callisto Protocol as bad as people say or we are just short of opinions and take the ones from other people?

Overall Dead Space was a fun, engaging and simple experience (and don't get me wrong simple is good).

The Callisto Protocol
(2022)

Beautiful, fun and repetitive.
Right of the bat I'll start by saying a had loads of fun playing this game. The combat is satisfying, the gore is truly next-gen and the story is solid. I don't think I need to say anything about the graphics because it speaks for itself.

Even though it has a bunch of positives, there's the negatives as well. Repetitive gameplay, lack of enemies, easy boss fights (except for the last one) and underdeveloped combat.

But even with the negatives the game gave me memories of the PS3 and XBOX 360 era, and that's good in my opinion, I would define the game as "simple" but believe me simple isn't easy to make. The game doesn't try to change a formula or to be innovating and I respect that, especially nowadays with just dumb and meaningless "innovations" to try and catch the public's attention. Making it simple was the right way to go for me. And god bless them for not including a online marketplace or anything online related.

I played on the PS5 and the game didn't have trouble running just a few dropped frames here and there but solid performance. (Just writing this part because apparently pc players are having a bad time) Overall it was truly a work of love and most importantly I got what I expected. Exited to see new work from the studio's involved in this project.

God of War: Ragnarök
(2022)

Sony never disappoints (almost)
As a fan of almost all Sony's exclusives this one is no exception at all.

The game had me up almost everything day until 1 am as I tried to sneak a few hours between the tight schedule I'm in such as work, university and gym, just to wake up at 5 am almost every morning.

The story, the character development, the music and the gameplay. It all resembles a MASTERPIECE. I had a hard time when a left the game to sleep or do other stuff, and that really means something nowadays in gaming for me.

Now what's s left it's to explore this wonderfully crafted world to further enjoy myself.

It's the first time I took time to write a review for a game as well, hope somebody finds this interesting enough to invest a few hours in the game.

This review it's not a technical one, it is just to show how much this meant for me and I'm sure to many other players from around the world.

Best regards to all.
