Deliver Us
(2023)

I've never been more disappointed after an amazing opening Act.
I don't know what happened here. The first twenty minutes of this movie had me asking myself how I'd never heard of it, much less how it was not receiving an absurd amount of praise in the horror movie community. It was awesome.

And then the rest of the movie happened. The middle was so boring, and almost as if it was written by a totally different person. The ending livened things up a bit but not nearly enough to rekindle the atmosphere and engrossing nature of the beginning.

I give it a 5 because it wasn't awful. I'll probably never watch it again. Had the same passion been put into the entirity of the movie that was clearly placed into the beginning... I probably would have placed it into my top 10 in horror.

The Watcher
(2022)

As usual, no one finishes anything. And the critics say it's brilliant.
I'm sick of it. So many movies or shows where the ending is just a point in time where the movie stops.

I have to include 600 words to write a review. So I'll say that up until the ending, it was a great show. The acting was great. The tension was great. But when it came time to give the audience some closure, we get hosed again.

I realize the true story it is based of remains unsolved. I don't really care. We deserve more than an ending where the audience has absolutely no feeling of resolution.

Looking back, most of the character behavior was not believable. And that's fine, I can look past that. But in end, even though I enjoyed the ride, the finish line was so disappointing... I probably wouldn't recommend this show to anyone I cared about.

Medieval
(2022)

Completely ruined by audio issues
I love Ben Foster. I think he chooses excellent movies.

I could maybe make out 30% of the dialogue in this movie. The audio is absolutely atrocious. The acting is good, the cinematography is great... So the fact that you simply cannot understand any dialogue is beyond glaring. It's not even the accents. If the dialogue isn't being drowned out by the unnecessary loud and booming bass, the spoken words are just unintelligible. I cannot believe a movie with this kind of cast would have these kind of issues.

There were also several spots with obvious editing issues. Where the characters mouth did not match up with the words the audience was hearing. Which just goes to show that no one who produced this movie bothered to actually watch it. Amateur stuff.

With a plot that is already hard to follow as others have mentioned, these issues made the movie nearly unwatchable. Super disappointed.

The Matrix Resurrections
(2021)

It was a 6 or 7 until the end
It was fairly enjoyable right up until about 15 minutes until the end. Then it became completely awful, with female empowerment being shoved down your throat for no reason other than because they wanted to. They changed the formula and it was done with no respect for the prior films.

At that point, the writing and the direction became so unserious, it was downright insulting. I very much wish I never watched it and simply maintained what I thought to be a very decent trilogy.

The Night House
(2020)

Death doesnt give you a license for completely unbridled sarcasm.
The movie itself is solid. I'd say one of the better horror movies I've seen in a bit.

That being said, Rebecca Hall or the dialogue, is completely out of control with rude sarcasm. It's never-ending. I found it very off-putting that it simply would not stop. So, I'm giving it a 5.

Broken Arrow
(1996)

Entertaining
Some movies are just meant to be enjoyed and not overscrutinzed by a bunch of imdb armchair warriors. This is one of those movies. Oh sure it's cliche a bit unbelievable at times. But it's just fun. It's a solid 7. 8 is a bit generous.

Malignant
(2021)

So disappointed
The atmosphere is completely ruined by silly dialogue. That was the first half. The second half is so ridiculous, it just wasn't even enjoyable. It's a horror movie, so I'm happy to leave my beliefs of reality at the door.. But my God. I was so excited for this movie and it completely sucked.

Serious horror buffs should skip this one.

Run Hide Fight
(2020)

If you rated this one star, it's because you're a liar and a moron
Is it the most realistic movie ever? Nope. But it's enjoyable and some of the scenes are actually quite haunting.

The acting is good, despite what I've read here. This movie is a solid 7.

Im so sick of the one star people. You've either never seen a one star movie or you're the kind of person that says "literally" 8 times in one sentence. Grow a brain. Learn to rate. Not everything is either a one or a ten.

Hunter Killer
(2018)

Stop casting Common
He's not a good actor. He ruins movies like these. The guy read lines like a robot.

Gladiator
(2000)

It's all been said before.
Even after over 20 years, it's still one of the best movies I've ever seen. This is what all movies should aspire to be. It's perfect. It's amazing. Thank you, Ridley Scott.

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword
(2017)

Way underrated
It's a really fun movie. I'm not sure what people want. I went into this movie expecting a dry, historically sound(ish) movie. Which would have been fine. But it was a pleasant surprise to find that this movie is not that. It's a modern day version of an old story and it's done well.

Is it perfect? No. But if you leave your preconceived notions at the door, you will enjoy the ride.

Die Hard with a Vengeance
(1995)

The best of the series
A classic in the contemporary sense. Super enjoyable with Bruce Willis at his best. Just watch it. You don't need to see the others to enjoy it.

Infini
(2015)

Way better than a 5.4 rating
That's the rating at the time of this review. Is it event horizon? No. But it's quite entertaining with a very interesting plot. Sure, one or two bad actors are apparent. But people seem to think this was a multimillion dollar, triple A release. It's not.

This is a hidden gem. This is why I sit through bad movies. To find movies like this. I recommend it.

Twin Peaks
(1990)

I don't understand...
I've seen plenty of shows that I really like referenced as "just like Twin Peaks"! I'm watching the first episode right now and I'm almost through. The acting is a straight up bad. You know when you watch a show and you're totally absorbed... and you never think, "Hey, these are actors. They are performing a scene right now."? Well this show is not that. I constantly am noticing how these people are actors.

The writing may be decent and I'm somewhat interested in the story... but wow, I'm really shocked at the high following for this one. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Ice on Fire
(2019)

Uh, yeah... right.
I'm supposed to listen to an actor preach about climate change, while he flies to environmental banquets in a private jet? Nothing could wreak more of elitist hypocrisy. Thanks, but no thanks. The individuals who create the largest carbon footprints are going to lecture us on what the rest of us should do?

Aquaman
(2018)

Decent
It has a lot of money pumped into it and a lot of action. It's like 2.5 hours which I don't think I'd sit through again. What's his face is nothing special.

Bone Tomahawk
(2015)

I liked it
This was a solid movie. The acting is quite good, the characters are unique and interesting, and the action is worth the wait. Matthew Fox delivers a great performance.

The Nun
(2018)

Eh
This one had a lot of potential but it fails to deliver. While there are some good jump scares, it really has no substance. I'd watch it again, but only if I was drinking.

A Quiet Place
(2018)

Awesome!
This is one of those movies you'll want to watch over and over. Scary, great characters and a clever plot. Well done.

Split
(2016)

Very Enjoyable
I really liked this one. James McAvoy delivers a great performance. I'm not a huge Shamalamanamanan fan, but JM made this one.

Black Summer
(2019)

Better than most
It won't change your life like 28 days later. But it's decent. The zombies are fast and vicious, and that matters a lot because the slow ones just aren't that scary.

That being said, the characters are complete idiots and you'll want to pull your hair out. But I don't regret watching it.

Whiplash
(2014)

Absolutely masterful.
This film is the kind of film where you want to watch it again immediately after the ending credits roll. It's easily in my top 10 of all time. Simmons and Teller are completely incredible in their roles. Some of the best performances I've ever seen.

What needs to be said of this film has already been said. But after having seen it upwards of 7 times, I would watch it again and again until the play button is worn from my remote.

Masterful.

Sightings
(2017)

Beware the fake reviews
Big problem on IMDb now. Go and check what else all the 10 star reviews rated. Nothing. Now I have to go research the reviews before I can actually trust the content?

Translation: This movie stinks.

Prisoners
(2013)

It's one of the best movies I've ever seen.
This movie is fantastic. The performances by Jake Gyllenhaal and Hugh Jackman are arguably the best of their careers. From beginning to end, the film is riveting with a powerfully dark, yet hopeful atmosphere. There is not a single thing I would change about this movie except maybe that no one has ever heard of it.

The acting, directing, cinematography and writing are absolutely first class. It is one of the best films I have ever seen.

It Comes at Night
(2017)

Can someone actually finish a movie nowadays?
This movie had loads of potential. The first 20 minutes were really promising and then it drops off into uninteresting monotony with a few interesting moments. It's like no director or writer bothers to finish a movie anymore. Instead of ANYTHING RESEMBLING CLOSURE or even just ONE SLIGHT HINT AT ANY SUBSTANCE, Hollywood just ends movies completely unfulfilled and abruptly.. and then chalks it up to "art".

The plot to this movie is actually really interesting. Joel Edgerton is great. The atmosphere is quite terrific in terms of horror. And then... nothing. This movie was completely anti-climactic and so many questions from minor to earth-shattering are left unanswered and DELIBERATELY unexplored. Screw this. What a waste of potential.
