Dark Skies
(1996)

Dark Skies Ruled
First X-Files then Dark Skies, X-Files had a good thing for awhile but the show was too slow to spill its secrets. Dark skies on the other hand kept viewers on the edge of their seats. The secrets kept coming at a rapid pace without ruining the flow of the series. I think it failed because of the time slot 8:00 Saturday evening? (at least where I live) It also had to go up against X-Files witch at the time was in its hay day. When the order came down to terminate the show they didn't have the respect to end on a proper note, I would have preferred something worthwhile for the people like myself who tuned in every week (I never missed an episode) The concept for Dark Skies was well thought out with good character development and god actors/actresses. the seamless blending of news footage was a great touch.

Kenpuu Denki Berserk
(1997)

Berserk Rules
Berserk is the ultimate I took a big chance 2 years ago when I rented Berserk 01 War Cry. At first I was like o.k. this is interesting then in the opening scenes I was instantly hooked I had to see what was going to happen to Guts next. This series is in some ways like the old film Excalibur. I love everything about this series The memorable characters, the great fight and battle scenes, the violence too isn't really that bad I mean its not gross or sickening in any way unlike so many movies of late, But on the other hand I wouldn't let children watch it. I think the natural progression from animation when we were all kids to now is berserk and shows like it. Thats all I got:)

Ima, soko ni iru boku
(1999)

An instant classic
I had the honor of watching this series about 2 years ago. I rented all 3 yes 3 DVDs from blockbuster and was not disappointed. The visuals are amazing, the characters well drawn and designed, the technology is well thought out as well. Its a simple story about human nature and how far someone will go to return home and to stand up for what they believe in.

This series is why I love anime, Of all the anime series out there this and berserk are my favorite. initially I was struck by just how beautiful the whole thing looked and I like the idea that a kid can be a main character and not make the show seem fruity or childish like so many "made for America anime" some of that is o.k. but I really like more serious stuff:)
