The Long Shadow
(2023)

Bringing them into the light.
Thats where Peter Sutcliffe lurked.

But this isn't about just him but the long shadow he inflicted on children, woman and men that he either decided to kill and hurt for his own pleasure, for decades. It's a forever hurt, a never ending one and this drama series highlights the human behind the name, their loved ones and families, and the uncompromising pressure on a police force to which they were unable to handle due to many issues, but didn't help either due to their own stereotypes and ego.

The many talent displayed is creditable, heartfelt and i take my hat of to the actors in the presence of 'Peter Sutcliffe' because many of them are from Yorkshire, and would know exactly what this man was and know family who lived during this time.

The police. Richard McCann at the end said the police were too quick to give themselves a pat on the back to bother to come round and tell them they had caught the man who murdered their mother.

-'Make these woman visible, bring them out of that same long shadow'-Richard McCann.

Amen to that.

I would recommend reading 'Wicked Beyond Belief' by Michael Bilton and 'Yorkshire Ripper- The Secret Murders' by Chris Clark and Tim Tate.

A goodun'
Brilliant acting, story and subjects. This is a class A production, the acting from everyone is never wanting and its so heart felt. The story is universal; heartbreak, lies, deceit, sacrifice, secrecy, religious prejudice, passion and friendship. We are all this and more.

The production is perfect, you are transported to the 1950's but it is completely relatable, as in the continuous struggle to live a life of no regrets.

Gokce Bahadir(Matilda) is amazing, as is Asude Kalebek(Rasel), and the outstanding Salih Bademci(Selim), he is one of kind.

'I came into your life with a signature, Its how i'll leave too'

Love this series.

Amazing, thrilling and brilliant acting...
...and i don't even speak Turkish. This show is top notch drama, yes it would be great if there was English subtitles but it says a lot about the show that you can follow pretty well because of the action, drama, acting, direction and the well thought out plot. I'm not going to ruin it by giving away any spoilers but the basic plot is that their are 4 characters who experience a collision of their cars whilst their lives have been unexpectedly and frighteningly changed.

I would compare it to 'Spiral', a french drama which is also brilliant! I just hope in the future someone will translate to English so i can watch it all over again 👍💖

Death on the Nile
(2022)

Mmm....Murder on the Orient Express was much better, and that's saying something
Okay, I've just watched this, so my review might not be for everyone.

I understand and admire new adaptions, and directions of said and tried material but THIS was not good. Not good in idea, difference and trying but in content, talent and $90,000,000 spent.

CGI was not needed and clearly not well done. If a BBC adaption can do it better, what is the $90, 000, 000 best spent on?!? A better screenplay or production.

I'm talking much of the budget, money but this is what this film reeks off because, screenplay, direction and actors have fallen very short.

There is no depth to this movie, to which previous adaptions have done well, why not now?! I'm just a bit annoyed at the waste.

Cleopatra moment?!? Didnt make sense and was not needed. Why did they film this?

And what's with the dirty dancing segment at the club???!!! You don't need that long to inform people of what passionate love is.

Stand outs: -The first 5 mins, Poirot in the trenches but the reason for the farcical moustache?!??

-French and Saunders- experience and talent shines through
  • Sophie Okonedo, class act and brought that once of realness.

  • Russell Brand, his look helped and he acted well, better than the so called 'star's'.

-Rose Leslie, good accent and played well, wanted more of her.

Hidden Figures
(2016)

Rate a movie for what it is, not with your own prejudice!
The amount of racist twaddle on these reviews is disgusting!!

'It never happened' ' true story, means made up by Hollywood'?????!!!!!!

This movie IS based on a true story, and one we should all know since its about the underdog, people who do not get recongised, and yes for ANY reason not just due to their colour! I'm sorry to say but in this era, there was racism and discrimination just like it is now! by people afraid they are going to die out!!?! Anyway just watch the film, enjoy it and if your get annoyed at it hopefully it will be at the cinematography or something! Xx
