Michael Yo: Blasian
(2018)

If you actually like comedy...
Michael Yo is likeable enough to some, but not funny. He's another Brendan Schaub as far as I can tell. Nice enough at first so people tolerate him, but clearly has no business doing stand up. Getting ripped by Chelsea Handler at the round table is hardly enough experience. Every other comic she invited on was far and away funnier than him by a Longshot.

This new trend of comedians friends getting on stage is more of a joke than the comedy itself. Jo Koy hits the Nail on the head, while Michael Yo's feeble attempts to relate to the audience through the lens of immigrant parents comes off as forced and labored. He adds nothing new or nuanced to the conversation.

Pete Davidson: Alive from New York
(2020)

Skip this...
When people keep having to explain to you why someone is funny, you know they aren't funny. Pete Davidson is no different than most of the comics in the LA scene. What does set him apart however is he tends to put his tragedy on display, which is not a new thing in comedy. It comes off as more of a sympathy ploy with him. I think a lot of his appeal stems from the fact that Americans will sometimes back and Underdog Story. If the guy who isn't supposed to win starts winning, that can sometimes Spark a bit of notoriety. Let's be clear, we would not be talking about him if he hadn't dated a Kardashian.

Hari Kondabolu: Warn Your Relatives
(2018)

Nice change of pace and topical
This special was pretty damn good and also hit on a few of the more pertinent topics in America. The reviews and comments are absolute gold by the way! It's hysterical when a group who is not used to any sort of criticism receives the tiniest bit. Anyone who speaks politically that doesn't automatically cosign on the status quo in America will be derided in this way. The ridiculous notion that in order for someone to speak on an issue they have to play Devil's Advocate is absurd and laughable. The only caveat is that in order to laugh at these jokes you have to be able to check your privilege at the door. .
