It's all about character
Never have I cared more about a cast of characters than I have with The Leftovers.
It's about as perfectly written as you could ever wish for. The plot is a secondary piece to this masterful puzzle, it revolves entirely around the immaculate character building, and the exceptional acting from all involved.
I can honestly say I have never been so emotionally invested in any characters as I have been with Kevin and Nora. Truly benchmark performances by Justin and Carrie.
It doesn't get the attention of other HBO shows, and its understandable, the subject isn't for everyone, but if you are thinking about watching, just do it. Sink in and get invested, it's easy, because it's outrageously executed.
