Dolce Amore
(2016)

Take notes on how to write stories, guys
Call me biased but somehow writers/directors for this love team know what they're up to.

I love the premise of the story, you can definitely feel the world building up to the present day. You'd feel bad for our protagonist Tenten for his humble start, until he meets this penpal of his. Years later he seemed to have a normal life and as fate dictated, the two penpals met.

I honestly haven't finished this series but I did reach the love triangle between Tenten, Serena and her childhood friend(played by Matteo). Where the three of them have to make choices for their family, lover, or themselves.

The rivalry was satisfactory, albeit cliché. You can feel the tension between the characters, and you'll even feel bad for (Matteo) here.

The dialogue was well-written, and the humor was well-timed and not overly cheesy. It's honestly difficult to pull that off, not gonna lie. Kudos to the director/writer. I will check up on their other works.

Batang Quiapo

Trash
I thought they'd deviate from The Probinsyano's formula. Turns out they followed the exact same formula and THEN branded it under a different name. It's the exact same series with the god awful dialogue, Cardo is called Tanggol(...why am I surprised) and his rebelliousness is still there under the guise of "I want to protect you." There's another way to solve problems, guys. The rest of the cast also have cookie-cut personalities so...

Just watched the latest episode and even the villians are so predictable, why? Because they dictate every single thing about their plans, the flow of the script automatically directs you in only one direction and you expect us to think this is good storytelling? I thought I would be rooting for the villians in this, but no, they're also equally bad if not worse.

Ang probinsyano
(2015)

Garbage (2)
It had sooooooo much potential in the first season. I rooted for Cardo and his childhood friend, Glen. The truth was revealed and somehow Glen becomes even lesser than a minor character. Suddenly Cardo and his twin's wife became lovers because?!?! That's so distasteful, man. And then everything turned trash.

The story went downhill where arcs reflect current events. Cardo has this love interest and then dies later on to justify his new lover. The cinematography's bad, dialogue is horrendous; villians speak even the tiniest details of their plans. It's just so bad. Was there even a script for this?

Even the sad moments are overly dramatic and the dialogue ruins it further. I'm surprised this series even lasted this long. Those who find this series amazing really need to be exposed to better content. Our fellow Filipinos deserve more than this.
