Girl
(1998)

Better than I expected
Good cast especially Tara Reid, Dominique Swain, Sean Patrick Flatery and Selma Blair. Very nice script with the main character Andrea (Swain) doing a monologue throughout. Very cool soundtrack with lots of rock tracks. All in all it's a good movie - for romantics and for people who like films about relationships, loves and losses, ups and downs.

Kissing Jessica Stein
(2001)

Could have been bad, but wasn't!
It could have been crude, or thoughtless, or stereotypical.

However it's very funny, very cute with very talented actors and actresses

My only problem is how the main character 'Jessica' seems to be ashamed that she's a lesbian - and acts like it's a freakishly abnormal thing!

Cruel Intentions
(1999)

One of the best films there are!
I'll keep it brief:

Superb cast, especially the three main parts, Sarah, Ryan and Reese

Great soundtrack

Very good script

A must-see film!

The Faculty
(1998)

One of my favourite films!
This is the greatest teen horror film!

The cast are brilliant, especially Elijah Wood, Josh Hartnett, Clea DuVall and Laura Harris

It's funny, exciting, scary and shocking. A beautiful collection of people making a film which isn't demanding or overwhelming, but still worth the 10+ times I've seen it!

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
(2002)

An absolutely fantastic film!
The Two Towers is superb. Amazing. Wonderful.

The cast are brilliant - especially Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn), Orlando Bloom (Legolas) and John Rhys-Davies (Gimli) who share a very sweet, comical friendship. Elijah Wood (Frodo) and Sean Astin (Sam) continue to wow the audience with their eternal love and care for each other.

The battle of Hell's Deep is overwhelming. Peter Jackson is a God to me, he created my favourite film ever 'The Fellowship of The Ring' and has created a sequel which is just as incredible to watch.

The film is one of a kind with the advanced technology which allows characters like Gollum and the Ents (The walking, talking trees!) to walk Middle Earth.

The cast and crew each deserve Emmys and Oscars for their contributions to this epic adventure

Charmed
(1998)

An enjoyable supernatural show!
Charmed has interesting, likeable characters and original storylines and shares at likeness with 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' and 'Angel' in the supernatural theme throughout the episodes.

If you like 'Buffy' and 'Angel' you will enjoy Charmed, as I did, but maybe it is the edge of silliness or the unbelievable demons/death scenes that makes me feel it is third best, behind 'Angel' and the almighty 'Buffy'

Love Song
(2000)

Christian Kane is so hot!
This film was much better than I expected it would be - predictable, yes, but that was not unexpected. It's the love story - few are that original. I thought the characters were very well developed and likeable - you grew to really care about the wellbeing and happiness of the main character's. 'Camille's' friends offered a humourous edge whilst Monica herself played Camille brilliantly.

I also really liked the music, it was sort of like 'Save the last dance' in that way. Hiphop meets the Blues. This leads me onto my new point....Christian Kane. Wonderful voice. Just wonderful. I know him as Lindsey McDonald from the TV show 'Angel' - he's what first attracted me to this film. I never thought a long haired man could be so damn attractive (Long-hair, as a rule, is a no-no).

There were a lot of chemistry between the characters, thanks to Monica's and Christian's talents of acting.

I give it a high rating of 8/9 out of 10, losing marks for being quite cheesy - otherwise highly enjoyable.

See it!

Scary Movie 2
(2001)

The first one is better!
Scary Movie 2 has some funny scenes (The Exorcist play-off is the best!) but overall it wasn't as funny as Scary Movie and the humour dried up through the film.

Also, didn't they all die in Scary Movie!?

Buffy the Vampire Slayer
(1997)

Absolutely Fabulous Faultless Television
I will not deny I am one of 'Buffy's' biggest fans. I've watched it religiously for many years now and it makes me completely furious when I hear people insult it! 'Buffy' does not have a set genre. It contains humour, romance, drama, horror and it is scarily addictive. My first episode happened to be 'Go fish' which isn't a classic but after it came....THE BECOMING. I was hooked.

Sarah Michelle Gellar, bless her, is one of the most beautiful and talented women in the world. Buffy is a great role model as is Sarah.

Alyson Hannigan is great as Willow, the spirit of the group with brain power and magical skills. I'm so proud of Willow's transformation from meek, pushover season one mouse to season five's bad-ass wicca girl.

Nicholas Brendon offers comical relief as the incredibly loveable Xander Harris, the heart of the group who goes throw too many jobs too quickly and is always protective of his darlings Buffy and Willow.

Emma Caulfield plays the point-blank hiliarious Anya, my favourite female character. Emma is incredibly talented and delivers Anya's lines wonderfully. Anya is brutally honest, painfully funny and very loveable and lets hope her and Xander stay together forever.

Anthony Stewart Head, the brain of the group, speaks five languages, is always the calm, fatherly one who controls the manic teens. He has certainly has left his mark on the group, helping Buffy become a responsible, level-headed young woman and a skilled slayer. Anthony does a great job as Giles.

Amber Benson is such a lovely woman and her character Tara (Willow's girlfriend) is mirrored in her loveliness. It makes me angry the way Amber is targetted by homophobics for playing a lesbian and also criticised over her weight (Amber is a lovely-shaped woman who must not change a thing) and Tara is a loving, caring, supportive woman.

Michelle Trachtenberg plays Dawn, Buffy's little sister who has had rather a traumatic life and who's not quite what she seems. Michelle is a fantastic actress, illustrated in the episode 'Blood ties' especially.

There are other characters...Joyce, Buffy's deceased mum, Oz who was Willow's boyfriend when she was hetrosexual, Riley, Buffy's ex, Harmony who was Spike's girlfriend, Cordelia, Angel and Wesley who now live in LA, Drusilla the nutcase and that takes me onto my next character...

Saving the best till last. James Marsters is my favourite actor in the world. His character Spike is incredibly funny, very sexy, James is absolutely gorgeous, extremely talented and Spike is a work of art.

'Buffy' has everything you could want and more. Violence? Sure. Romance? Definitely. Thrills? Always. Fun? Granteed. If you haven't already checked it out, what are you waiting for? There's nothing better

Crossroads
(2002)

Colour me impressed!
I was hesitant about seeing ‘Crossroads' mostly because Britney Spears was the main star. Sure, she can sing, dance, whip males into a sexual frenzy, pull off the most revealing outfits, but can she act? It turns out, she can! She impressed me and I like Britney more than ever now. Although she was very good, I didn't think she was the best in the film. Zoe Saldana, who played the pretty, popular little madam Kit and Taryn Manning who played the pregnant, level-headed rock chick Mimi, blew me away. They were fantastic and the chemistry between the characters Kit, Mimi and Lucy (Britney's character) was great fun and very enjoyable to watch. Anson Mount, the mysterious driver Ben, was impressive. I haven't seen him in anything else before and although I didn't think he and Lucy fitted well together, the actor and the character were likeable.

The only flaw was how the writers droned on about how Britney Spear's was a singer! We knew beforehand but every other scene was her singing, dancing, writing song lyrics and pretending it was poetry. I think Britney's very talented, both musically and in acting, I don't need any reminders! Some might say the film was predictable, and true, some bits were. Still there were twists and surprises.

The overall film was a feel-good movie, it did have the cheesy lines and moments most films have, but it was fun and lively. I recommend it to anyone looking for a light enjoyable film.

American Pie 2
(2001)

Very tasty!
I saw the first American Pie, laughed at all the right places and enjoyed myself. From my history of disappointing sequels I never expected American Pie 2 to be so delightful.

We find Jim, still horny, still desperate to shag his darling Nadia. We find Oz, still with Heather, though under0going lots of phone sex due to their distance apart. We find Kevin, the same loveable boy he was in the first American Pie. We find Stifler who, thank God, hasn't changed a bit. I love Seann William Scott. He cracks me up. Jessica, Finch and (YAY!) Stifler's mum returned to us.

My favourite part of American Pie 2, apart from the very funny scenes, the loveable characters and the great improvement from the first one, was the fact that Alyson Hannigan (Michelle) had a much larger part in it. I adore Alyson, I've watched her mature and evolve in 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' and think she is incredible. As Michelle she was funny and sweet and I can't think of anyone better suited for Jim.

A wonderfully funny, cute film for all to enjoy!

Jawbreaker
(1999)

Killer movie!
At first glance, Jawbreaker looked like a typical teen movie. Several pretty actresses, most of which I had seen elsewhere.

Settling down to watch it with my sister, I found it wasn't just another teen movie. It was so much more than that. It was sharp and sassy with a well-chosen script and cast. The girls showed such powerful chemistry between them, I was in awe. Rose McGowan was priceless as the heartless, ring leader and Julie Benz (One of my favourite actresses) was loveable as the yappy side-kick. Rebecca Gayheart shone as the moralist Julie - I connected with her and grew to care what happened to her and how the story would unravel.

I didn't care for 'Fern Mayo', not offense to the actress who played her, but I found the 'improved' Fern was nothing compared to the previous one. One scene, involving loud music and a bonnet of a shiny, red sports car, left me speechless. I had no idea what was going on!

The cast suited their roles perfectly and I doubt other actresses could have played the popular crowd better. The script was cool, calm and witty and most pleasing to listen to. The clothes, brightly coloured and very tight, were both revolting and irresistable at the same time.

To conclude, I thought Jawbreaker was a refreshing change from the norm and a film every teenager/young adult should see. It offered entertainment and enjoyment - so much that I'm soon to buy it. 10/10!
