Dhak Dhak
(2023)

Good road movie
Movie sticks to it's core premise of four women on a bike tour without unnecessary twists or melodrama. The bike scenes feel authentic. Some of the issues they experience on the road are relatable. All the actors have performed well but Ratna Pathak Shah steals the show. I watched the movie with my family and we weren't bored. The movie moves along well. All the four leading ladies have their own unique personalities and issues. The cinematography is good and the locations look pretty. I have previously been stuck on the road and have been helped by good samaritans and vice versa. The movie shows some good samaritans helping out fellow travelers. Keeps your faith alive in humanity.

The Romantics
(2023)

Great show. Not very well marketed.
I really enjoyed the documentary. The interviews felt very genuine. The best part of course is Aditya Chopra. I had never seen him before this show. Had no idea how he looked. For a person that is regarded as shy and introvert, he actually is very well spoken and expressed his ideas clearly. He should do more interviews. The series is laced with great scenes from some of the most iconic Hindi movies. There are also several behind the scenes footage I had not seen before. The series renewed my interest in some of the classic movies and I am going to watch some of the older Yash Chopra movies that I haven't seen before. There are also several pictures of young Abhishek Bacchan, Hrithik Roshan, Uday Chopra and others. They all look very cute. I also feel bad for Uday Chopra. He is a very sweet guy. I actually like him as an actor and thought he did well in the few movies he starred in. It's sad we did not get to see more from him. This is also evidence for all the nepotism complainers that if nepotism alone ran Bollywood, then Uday Chopra should have been a top actor. I personally do not see any wrong in kids wanting to do what their parents did and parents wanting to give their kids the opportunity. It happens in all businesses; why treat the film Industry differently? There are many good actors who have made it in the Industry that were outsiders. The biggest example of course being Shahrukh Khan. I would also be very happy to see Aryan Khan in movies. Let the audience decide if a movie or an actor is good. We Indians love cinema. Let's keep politics aside and just welcome good movies and actors wherever they come from.

Mortal Kombat
(1995)

Guilty pleasure
I have seen this movie many times. Now my kids watch it. Much better than the new MK movie. Very simple story. Cheesy lines. Sticks to the original video game story line.

Ms. Marvel
(2022)

Bold attempt by Disney
I like Disney's effort in bringing diversity to the characters. It's refreshing to see a lead that is a Pakistani girl. The second episode is a little slow. Hope they can bring in more action in the upcoming episodes.

Down to Earth with Zac Efron
(2020)

Irritating
Could not understand the constant giggling by the lead anchors. What's so funny?

Choked

All is well that ends well
I enjoyed the movie. The characters are totally relatable and the struggles feel real. In many movies like this, the ending is vague or depressing. It was refreshing to see a clear happy ending.

Gulabo Sitabo
(2020)

Like a cigar
Movie is pleasurable in its slow pace. If you are looking for a fast paced potboiler, skip this one.

Breaking the Bee
(2018)

Watch it with your kids
Your genes or background may give you some advantage in a certain sport or profession but to get to the top, there is no substitute to hard work. I also liked how the documentary did not focus only on winners. Kids need to understand that its not always about winning. After putting in all your effort and hard work, you still need to be prepared to lose and have the courage and will power to do it all over again.

Chippa
(2019)

Sweet movie
Very sweet movie about everyday people. Human beings are not black and white. We are a product of our surroundings. You need the eyes of a child to see the good in humanity.

Paatal Lok
(2020)

Very well written
Credit goes to the series writers. The series is full of colorful characters. The writers have done a terrific job of blending in all the back stories into a cohesive plot.

Pacific Rim Uprising
(2018)

Nothing special
I enjoy action films but the action sequences in this movie were very chaotic and not in a good way. There was too much camera movement. In 3D, it just had a dizzying affect. I understand John Boyega is english and has an accent but I found his accent annoying. Acting was mediocre all around. Writing was poor.

Smurfs: The Lost Village
(2017)

Nice, clean family entertainer
I got to see the advance screening of the move with my kids. I enjoyed the fast pace of the movie and the exciting story line. Kids did not get bored throughout the movie. Unlike some movies that are geared towards boys or girls specifically, this movie entertains both boys and girls. There was no vulgarity in the movie and no unnecessary violence.

Sing
(2016)

Excellent movie. Clean entertainment for kids.
We saw Sing at a free preview organized by the makers and AMC. I really enjoyed watching the movie with my kids. I appreciate the fact that the makers did not resort to toilet humor to generate laughs. The entertainment was clean. There were no unnecessary sexual references.

I like kids movies that inspire and Sing managed to do that. It encouraged kids to get over their fears and try against all odds.

All the characters were lovable and unique in their personalities. Movie also had some very good music. Length of the movie was just fine for kids. My kids sat through the whole movie and did not get bored or restless till the end. Everybody in the theater seemed to have a good time. Nice feel good movie to watch with the kids. Go for it.
