The Flash
(2014)

10 points for cliché
I picked up this show, because it had a high rating. But I struggle to find any saving graces for this show. I mean the acting is poor, the writing is poor and the entire show is one big cliché.

Besides that the show is also missing in depth.

This show is predictable and the sci-fi is over the top. Here's an idea why don't you just use magic instead. Instead of using X particle or quantum physics for the sake of convenience.

The people I would recommend this show to: 12-13 year old children.

Some other people that would enjoy this show would be people that enjoy every other superhero movie. I am not saying there aren't any superhero movie/series good ones, but it's a rarity these days.

The Tomorrow People
(2013)

Easy watch, but not well thought through
It is a very easy watch and has an interesting premise. The 3 T's Teteportalion, Telekinesis and Telepathy. However one cannot overlook the glaring plot holes and sci-fi nonsense. I got a feeling while watching this that they came up with the plot as the series were progressing. It was like we need more drama this episode? or which character haven't we endangered yet?

The show did however asks us one simple, interesting and meaningful question, how would society react to a drastic inequality in abilities. Although this question is ultimately lost in meaningless plot twists and was never answered.

Overall, the series were not well-thought through. I would still recommend this show to people looking for an easy watch sci-fi and can overlook plot holes and horseradish science.

The Vampire Diaries
(2009)

A teensy drama with sci-fi elements
PLOT: The plot is half-bad, but will probably appeal to very small teen demographic. The entire plot could be summed up as marketing pitch: High- school, Vampires & Love Triangles.

The show tries to compensate for it's weak plot with cliffhangers.

ACTING: The side character acting is bad. The flashbacks lack in authenticity.

The Verdict: The show will be forgotten as soon as the vampire craze is over. It has many awards, but if you look more closely none of them are respectable, mostly it is just people choice, which doesn't account to much.

Lucy
(2014)

This doesn't classify as Sci-Fy
Sci-Fy as I understand it is based on science. There was nothing science related in the movie, they just inserted a bunch of sciency terms to make superpowers sound more legit.

For the record humans use 100% of their brain. The brain has to maintain resting potentials to work properly. Also the movie completely ignored the laws of physics.

Okay, now for the plot. Character development: Girl gets superpowers, end of story. Plot: There was an inciting incident, the movie got that right, but aside from that, there was no clearly defined goal for the protagonist and there was no real confrontation for the protagonist.

Verdict: There is no redeeming qualities for this movie, both the science and plot have failed miserably.

Last comments: I have no idea why respectable actors such as Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman would waste their talents like that.

Batman Beyond
(1999)

A Solid Futuristic Version of Batman
What really made the series work for me is that the story had a solid backbone. The characters in the series were all well developed and had great dialogue. I don't think the story would have worked for me at all if it didn't have those brief interactions with the side characters.

Another thing that really worked for me was the setting. The futuristic world was well built and thought through. The setting felt really believable, because it did little things like introducing new vocabulary, futuristic sports and arcades.

However, there was one thing that didn't work for me was the poor science fiction writing. If you know anything about physics, chemistry or biology gets it wrong A Lot, not all the time, but a lot. Since the main audience is kids, maybe it's not a big deal for the most of people, but for me it was something that constantly took me out of the show.

All in all, it is a solid version of batman with a great soundtrack and animation and for me personally it is the best animated version of batman. Though if you're into more adult like series with better science, I would recommend you watch "Ghost in the Shell" instead.

Iron Man
(2008)

Just what you would expect from a typical superhero movie
I would definitely recommend this movie to all those who enjoy movies like superman and to those who just wanna see some action with a nice story.

But for those who'd like a bit more depth it's rather disappointing. What I found most disappointing was lousy character development. I couldn't really familiarize with any characters at all. The main hero seems to lack human part behind the mask and a decent explanation of what made him choose to become the Iron Man. I mean it's too predictable.. There could have been deeper characters with more build-up behind them like in Batman the beginning.

Overall, I'd say it's a good movie to have fun watching, but I found nothing in it that would inspires me and I wouldn't call it a very rewarding experience.
