Kochadaiiyaan
(2014)

An Epic attempt
Kochadaiiyaan, movie based on performance capture technology is definitely one of its kind and opens new door for movies which are expensive for real time making.

The Strength of the movie is its magnificent plot and witty dialogues written by K.S.Ravikumar. This movie revolves around the plot that everyone one of us has enjoyed listening or reading to.

Having a strong story in hand, Director Soundarya has conveyed it appropriately to audience using best of the techniques, with the help of A.R.Rahman's lively music.

Above all, it was SUPERSTAR Rajinikanth's charisma that has helped a lot for portrayal of lead characters in the movie. Without his star power this movie would have found hard to reach the audience.

I don't find it necessary to criticize on the graphics part of any movie. As long as the story and the characters are good, its okay to bare with graphics. All movies that rely on technologies will need improvement.

Except for some songs and dragging battle scenes in second half, this movie will keep you engaged and entertained thoroughly.

Having watched it thrice already, Kochadaiiyaan will be labelled as HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.!

Onaayum Aattukkuttiyum
(2013)

A fairy tale of redemption
When you are shown a city that is glowing even during the nights, artists who perform extra ordinarily well, Illayaraja's symphony, a story that is just like a fairy tale, one must say 'Cant ask for better'. This is what Mysskin's Onaayum Aattukuttiyum is all about.

The Story is about a man who is a killer by profession trying to seek a redemption over a night. Simple.

Screenplay is so good that it sticks to story and only to the story. Every characters in the movie are given proper detail (even the one that is out of focus). Being a thriller genre, the screenplay moves like a train that goes very fast and also not forgetting to stop by the right stations.

Entire film has been shot in Chennai during the nights. The cinematographer must surely given the credit to have visualized the city extremely well.

The direction skills of Mysskin is well known from his previous films,he has done a great job as well. The casts including Mysskin and Shri have all lived up to the characters. Interestingly all the characters were given animal-like shades (fox, lamb, tiger, bear etc).

Finally you have Illayaraja's soundtracks throughout the entire movie. One thing for sure, Illayaraja is the only person in India who can communicate intense emotions without words.

The movie has got no comedy but lots of humor. There is no romance in the movie, but it has got lots of love.At the end of day you will have a feel of experiencing, what is supposed to be world class cinema.

Go watch it for Mysskin and Maestro. Highly recommended.

A Selvaragahavan Masterpiece
There will always be one movie that someone keeps close to their heart. This one from director Selvaraghavan is one such movie that is very close to my heart till date.

Sometimes miracle do happen. For a film, it is a miracle to be a perfect one in all aspects, may it be acting/music/cinematography/direction/screenplay. Pudhupettai is a sheer class of brilliant acting, nerve catching music and artistic direction.

I doubt if Dhanush could ever do a better acting than this, same applies for Yuvanshankar Raja and Selvaraghavan for their own work. In fact this movie is the best one for all the above three people.

I wish I had a count of number of times I watched this movie. Whatever., it is the best inspiring movie ever made, in any languages for that matter.

People say it has drawn similarities from other Gangster movies, but who cares, It happens for every movie. On that note, this is best Gangster movie ever.

To conclude, if you lack in confidence? frustrated about life? depressed? or feeling let down? then this is movie could be your doctor prescribed one.

Romance at its best
Ever watched Donnie Darko? and remember how does it put us speechless in the final minutes..!! You could experience the same in this movie as well, a touch higher feel indeed.

3 - Starring Dhanush and Shruthi is an honest attempt of Romance genre in the recent past. The best part is that the romance depicted is simple and passionate as well. The movie is a mix of regular and rare happenings. First half of the movie, happens to everybody in their life, which is followed by not-so-regular happening in the second half.

The most important aspect of this movie is that, it also focuses on the after marriage part rather than just what the regular movies do.On this note this movie is not a regular romantic movie.

The significance of the movie are music by Anirudh and acting by Dhanush. All the support casts were equally good and Shruthi could have delivered much better.

The let down part in the movie would be less-realistic second half. Or the fact that it is not very common which gives us nothing to relate with the final half. Simply, the transformation from realistic first half of the movie to rather less-realistic half is unconvincing.

On the whole, it is definitely an excellent movie simply if you believe in it.Considering the music and the passionate romance, I would highly recommend this movie.

Aadukalam
(2011)

This is how world class movies are like
In the league of Devar Magan, Paruthiveeran yet another movie that portrays the life of people as it is in the reality. Aadukalam is a movie based on the life of rooster-fighters, their passion, love, emotions and everything.

After success of Polladhavan, Dhanush and Vetrimaaran have tagged again for this classical venture and have succeeded too, making it both commercial and critically acclaimed movie.

Plot: Pettaikaran and Rathnasamy are the rivals in the rooster fight. Karuppu, the jockey of Pettaikaran team, goes to win the best rooster award and a ransom price money in a tournament despite Pettaikaran denial to compete with his rooster. Rest of the movie depicts how situations go bad as people change after Karuppu gaining popularity.

Yet another brilliant acting from the lead, Dhanush and excellent acting from the support casts Jayabalan, Kishore, and Narien. Tapsee who does the love interest of Dhanush, has done a recent job as well.

Music is done by G.V Prakash Kumar has delivered exactly what it is supposed to.

Full credits to Vetrimaaran for this excellent direction and superlative screenplay.

No wonder that this movie has bagged six National awards including best actor, best director and best screenplay.

For those who are looking for an honest and a quality movie, I would highly recommend this.

Madrasapattinam
(2010)

Worth a watch!!!
No big speculation,no big cast, not a great technical crew, not an intelligent director..but the product is simply superb. It was delightful to see the movie Madharasapattinam, directed by Vijay. Its was Romance/History genre, for a change. The highlight of the movie are the stars Arya and Amy.The former came up and decent acting..and the other had a delightful smile and looks which you won't forget for a week.... The other important aspect of the movie was the music by G.V.Prakash..Both the Bgm and songs was tremendous..Pookal Pookum and Kaatrile was awesome number...... The dialogues of the movie was also quite good, like "400 Varusathukapram Thirupi Adikirom!"-MS.Bhaskar..the comedies was also good and came with the track of the movie... The disappointing factor is the impacts of the moovie Titanic in it.The Question is are we guys gone out of brains to have some originality in our movies!!! Otherwise its good movie to watch, and i highly recommend to watch it on screens, especially for GV and Amy!!!

Yaaradi Nee Mohini
(2008)

A Top-class comedy flick,yet sensible
This Dhanush-Nayanthara starer is the one of the best comedy-romance genre movies in Tamil.

This movie is directed by Mithran R.Jawahar, who deserves credit for handling Selva's script in a decent way.

Yuvan has made great contribution with romantic songs and background score for comedy tracks.

Plot:Vasu(Dhanush) is loser in all of his life, until he falls love with Keerthi(Nayan),who is already engaged..Vasu becomes lonely after the death of his father...Vasu's friend Seenu takes him to village where Seenu-Keerthi wedding has been fixed.. rest of the story is narrated with lots of fun ....

Dhanush has perfectly played a boy-next-door character showcasing reality acting and hilarious comedy, with good support from Karunas...Raghuvaran plays the role of Dhanush's father with his own style of acting and dialogue delivery, all of the father-son scenes were good mix of comedy and emotions.

Nayanthara has perfectly suited for the software trainer role, has got something to act in this movie after a series of commercial movies..

The story travels to 3 different places Chennai ,australia and a village...in all these locations the cinematography is good...

The level of humour reaches its peak in the second half ,after the introduction of Pooja(Saranya Mohan) heroine's younger sister. Pooja is attracted by the new guest(Dhanush) to their family, tickles us with her one-side love.

Aayirathil Oruvan
(2010)

Selvaraghavan-The Aayirathil Oruvan
The movie which created high expectations for 2 years reaches silver screen with a bang! hats off to Selva and his crew who made this happen.

Plot: During 12th century,Cholas were defeated by the Pandians, causing the Chola king and his people to remain hidden with the enemy god's idol..Pandians are still in search of them..presently,the casts Karthi,Reema,Andrea go pass 7 traps set by Chola to reach the hidden Chozan world...the rest of the story reveals Reema's mystery and Karthi's destiny.

All credit goes to Selva who has made a successful magnum opus. The important aspect of the movie is its raw and sensible screenplay.

The cast of the movie are definite plus..Karthi has completely dominated the first half of the movie wit hilarious comedies, and innocent acting..Brave attempt of Reema in second half is sure for credit,Andrea plays a soft and sizzling role in the movie..Parthiban as the Chozan king is above grounds, his performance in this movie surely deserves an award....

Music is the soul heart of the movie scored by G.V.Prakash ..songs are tremendous incl Oh Eesa,Un Mela Aasadhan and Thai Thindra..the two instrumentals, King arrives and Celebration of life are best part of the movie holding audience nerves...

Cinematography and art direction adds beautiful ingredients to the movie..graphics could have been made still more perfectly..

Finally, Selvaraghavan has clean shaved all the routine commercial flicks and has given a new genre for Tamil cinema..the story of the movie speaks for itself...the scene of Nataraja shadow is purely brilliancy in world cinema..the characterization of the Chozan king is amazing..the research work of the director is excelled in all departments like music and mythology of Cholas..

the negative aspects are the character of the army officer and rape scenes in final minutes..

To conclude AO is the movie that carries Tamil history in world class style...new entry for cult movie.

(Desperately waiting for AO2)
