Carmageddon
(1997)

A driving variation of Duke Nukem.
A great game I personally think. It was released in 1997 by SCi games and the graphics maybe a little raw, (even with the 3DFX support, it can crash quite often), but the sheer fun you can have of having a head-on collision at 150mph or plow into a bunch of women in bikini's is great. With over 30 cars to choose from, and many strange and wonderful tracks to drive on, such as causing mayhem in New York or go banger racing in a field with cows running all over the place. The vehicles to are also fun, like a Mercedes-Benz CL600 with caterpillar tracks to a Lada Riva monster truck. All cars can upgrade their specs., like upgrade a straight-six engine to a V12, add titanium studs, layers of shielding, once you have the money, which is gained from running people down, more if you get a "Splatter Bonus" or a "Pile Driver Bonus". The violent levels in it can be quite high, it isn't one to show for the children, hence having a well-deserved 18's cert. on it. Hours of fun for only €10. A good 9 out of 10 for this one.

House of 1000 Corpses
(2003)

Over Hyped Rubbish.
This film is pure crap, NOT good at all. When it came out first, it was supposed to be extreme violence and gore, but in reality, the only real gore scene was when one of the twisted family members wore someones face and body (something like out of the "Silence Of The Lambs"). If your looking for a film with proper gore and violence, and a plot, watch Event Horizon. The false-colour "dreams", if you could call it that, that were added in here and there through out the movie were pathetic attempt to scare people. It is hard to find words to describe how bad it was.

Overall, this is a Rockey Horror Picture Show/Texas Chainsaw Massacre with Silence Of The Lambs thrown in mixture is like mixing sodium and water, you just don't do it, but in the case with this, it has been done, and the effects are horrible. 0 out of 10.

'Goodbye, Galaxy!' Episode V: The Armageddon Machine
(1991)

The End Of The World Is Soon.
Forget about all your fancy Half-Life's & Max Payne's, this is what you want. This is a classic game, which follows young Keen to destroy a space station that was designed to destroy the universe, hence the name of the game. You go around jumping around on your pogo stick, and shooting these big green things with your laser pistol, of course you don't kill 'em, you just stun them. Funny, the last level on the game isn't really hard at all. I first played the game in 1998, and for some reason, I loved it. The graphics are VERY 2-D, but for a game that is now 12 years old, what would you expect. Game play was great, going around the levels, looking for a way out while encountering aliens & robots out to kill you. You also had to pick-up pizza's, drinks, ice-cream, etc. to keep alive. The company it was made by, went on to make other brilliant games like the "Doom" series. Nine out of ten.

Guest House Paradiso
(1999)

Very Funny.
It may not be Oscar material, however this was a very funny film. I was always a fan of Eddie (Edmondson) & Richie (Mayall). "Bottom" & "Young Ones" were legendary TV series', and it was about time they made a film. Some of the stuff they get up to is brilliant, from the pencil is the rear-end, to the rubber sex-pants, as well was the infamous line that Richie says when he falls and a candle he is carrying goes into his eye. He says to Eddie "Candle In The Eye, Candle In The Eye", and Eddie been the simpleton that he is, sticks the candle he's carrying into his eye. Can't forget when Eddie is on his motorbike, and he needs to urinate.... It was a great comedy, not to be taken seriously at all, but the film lacked with an ridicilous ending.

Overall, a exellent comedy, full of laughs, and lots of fake green vomit. A 9/10.

The Italian Job
(2003)

All Right, Not As Good As The Original.
I've seen better, and I have seen worse, and this was somewhere in the middle. Although it had a good cast, such as Edward Norton & Jason Statham, it seemed to lose points on the final car chase sequence at the end. In the original, it lasted much longer, and it was better with the police chasing after them. This one, the chase only lasted a couple of minutes, and there was no real "fun" in the chase. The plot was very "Americanised". There had to be someone who betrayed them. Overall, a 4 out of 10, not great, not bad.

Fallout
(1997)

Brilliant.
I must say that I was never big into RPG games, but I must say that this was great. Like with no-other game, you pick the storyline, if you want to be a bad guy and kill innocent people, blackmail them, and rob them. You can be also a good guy, and kill bad guys for fun or/and money. A vast selection of weapons, ranging from a Air Gun to a Gatling Gun or a Rocket Launcher. Bartering with people for goods (or rob them) is a good feature. Also, like with the sequel, and Kingpin: Life Of Crime, you can get NPC's (Non-Playing-Characters) to join you to clean up the deserts of South California. The plot goes as follows; you have 150 days to get a new water chip for you underground vault, and you go around wandering the radioactive deserts of California in the 22nd century. However, the isometric view can be quite dull, but you get used to it eventually.

Overall, a 9.5 out of 10 for this excellent game.

The Getaway
(2002)

Good, but not as good as GTA 3 or Mafia.
The Getaway is a violent action/adventure game where you first play as a ex-criminal, and then you play as a vigilante cop. The storyline goes that you (Mark Hammond) is out of jail and trying to get back on the straight-and-narrow, however, a ageing crime lord, Charlie Jolson, kills Mark's wife and kidnaps his son, so he has to do various missions to get him back. ONce you finish that part of the game, you then play as a cop who doesn't care for the law, and he goes of hunting for Charlie Jolson. The games graphics, in my mind, they are better than that of GTA 3 and GTA VC, and the car selection is great, where you can select from a Nissan Micra to a Lotus Esprit V8. The car steering and damage are more realistic as well. However, the game loses points on the lack of weapons, all that you can select is a Beretta's, AK-47's, Shotgun's, & Uzi's. Also the lack of missions can also be a concern, and once completeion of the game, the Free Roaming feature is no good if you want to engage in a high speed pursuit with the cops and gangs.

Overall, I would have to give it a 6.5 out of 10.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2
(2002)

Very Realistic Racing Game.
I have most of the N.F.S. games, but this one has to be the best so-far. The graphics are exellent, best to date, and the car selection is brilliant, some of them being the Vauxhall VX220, Ford Mustang, Mercedes-Benz CL55 AMG, Dodge Viper, and many more. As in some of the previous N.F.S. games, you still can either evade the cops or be a cop. Evading the cops is difficult, however being a cop is a different story. You have the option of letting down a spike strip, calling for back-up, and getting a police helicopter involved in the chase. Cop cars vary from a standard Ford Crown Victoria to a Lambroghini Diablo cop car. However, the game does loose points on the fact that they have the Vauxhall VX220 and the Opel Speedster as different cars, you cannot upgrade your car during leagues, and no visible damage on your cars.

Overall, and another great game from EA Games, and I would have to give it a 8 out of 10.

Interstate '76
(1997)

"Never Get Out Of The Car"
This is a great driving game, where you can blow the crap out of the "creepers". The graphics are great, except when they show the faces of Groove or Taurus, because they seem to have no mouth. There is so many weapons to choose from, like 35mm Cannons, 7.62mm Machine Guns, Rockets, Land Mines, etc. The missions in the game are great, and very challenging, with a good cut-scene between them. It's a great pro-vigilante game.

Ronin
(1998)

Brilliant Film, one of the best.
One of the best action triller films I have seen in along time. Robert De Niro & Jean Reno are at the best here. It is films like these that should win Oscars. This film had a exellent story line with action somewhere around the corner. The car chases are the best, the one with Robert De Niro & Jean Reno in the Peugeot 406 driving wild through Paris on the wrong side of the road. Truely brilliant. 10 out of 10.
