Liar, Liar
(1993)

good movie
I was 11 when this movie came out so never saw it and if ever replayed on Lifetime I missed it. Luckily it's on Youtube. The set up of this movie makes you doubt Kelli as to whether or not she's lying because she told after she told her friend she had a plan to get back at her Dad and after she told her little sister her Dad would be sorry he hurt her ( while the viewers think she's being spanked though something much more sinister was going on). Throughout the movie there are times when it seems like Kelli is lying and you are just waiting for her to admit she was lying, it isn't until the last half hour when we the viewers realise that yes Kelli was telling the truth and she wasn't the only one it had also happened to her older sister and little brother, the only person who seemed to not have been molested was the middle child.I like movies that are unpredictable and this movie was unpredictable till the very end

August Rush
(2007)

lovely and sweet movie
I love movies reveolving around music and " August Rush" is the type of movie that makes your heart soar from beginning to end. It's a heartwarming story aboutva young boy searching for his parents through music. The movie has an all star cast with Jonathan Rhys Meyers who would later play King Henry in the Tudors, Kerri Russell who has been quite a few TV shows and movies a young Leon Thomas who kids will recognise from the nickalodeon show " Victorious" where he plays Andre and August Rush played by Freddie Highmore and Robin Williams, The music tugs your heart the minute you hear it, the acting is perfect and not over the top or dripping with sappiness. If you haven't seen this movie yet buy or borrow a copy you will not regret it,

Oobi
(2000)

horrible show
Just because a show is aimed toward preschoolers and toddlers does not mean the show's characters have to be stupid and talk like they're in preschool or a toddler in fact Oobie , Kaku and the Grandfather should not talk like cavemen since they are old enough to use proper speech . I know people say " Oh it's a kids show for kids" but no other kids show has their characters talk in broken English the way these characters do it's not funny or cute and will make kids think it's okay to talk like this especially since every character does it,if they just had the little sister talk this way it would be slightly understandable since she is maybe toddler age,but having the grown ups and older characters talk this way too is going overboard and is not educational at all for children

The Fresh Beat Band
(2009)

sweet show
Normally I don't care for certain kids shows on Nick Jr. finding them annoying or corny, but last summer my nieces who were 4 & 5 were staying with us and Nick Jr. was their favorite channel,so we watched this show and I liked it .This show is corny but sweet ,the music is catchy and I actually found myself looking forward to new episodes and the little music video they showed for the song "Here we go" the actors don't try to act cool it just comes naturally.I even ended up watching several episodes by myself the show is funny with good morals that aren't crammed down your throat. Most nick Jr.shows aren't worth watching unless you have to because your kid likes it ,Fresh Beat Band is a show that you could watch on your own and not feel like you are being slowly tortured

X: First Class
(2011)

cool movie awesome music
As a girl I'm not really one for any action movies I prefer a fantasy movie like Narnia or Harry Potter or a period drama set in England like Jane Eyre, but this movie was on cinemax this morning and I happened to catch it at a very action part so it piqued my interest and I continued to watch while trying to figure out who the guy playing a young Charles Xavier . X-men first class was better than I expected because it answered quite a few questions like Magneto's helmet I thought it was for his mutation turned it it wasn't his first and it was to keep Charles from reading his mind. I loved the cerebro sequence where Charles was locating all the mutants, the music was brilliant but that scene was not the only one with brilliant music, the score with Banshee flying was awesome, but the best scene ever was when Erik finally raised the submarine out of the water. The only thing I regret is that I missed the beginning ,and I finally did figure out James Macvoy played Charles. This is a movie for guys and gals it has a bit of romance to keep girls interested and the music does help quite a bit. When the sequel comes out I will find a way to see that

The Wizard of Oz
(1939)

Oz was not a dream
Yes Wizard of Oz is a classic ,however it is only a classic if you have never read the books, and yes Judy Garland made an okay Dorothy except she was the wrong age,the problem with this movie is that if you have never read the books one would think that the story ends after Dorothy's friends get their "gifts" so to speak and she taps her heels three times . Except it doesn't because Oz was not a fantasy dream world Dorothy dreamed up .The movie leaves out a whole lot and gives it the cookie cutter Hollywood ending . So if you want a good version of Wizard of Oz watch one of the cartoons most particularly one of the anime versions since they seem to go by the book. The other thing that is wrong with this movie is how Dorothy's character was butchered in the book Dorothy is this spunky resourceful little girl who doesn't need rescuing but Judy Garland plays her like this helpless damsel in distress and that's not who Dorothy is . The girl who played her in " Return to Oz" did a much better job

Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm
(1938)

Okay if you never read the book
If you have never read or even know the original story of " Rebecca of Sunnybrook farm" then you will enjoy this movie if however you read the book, you might want to avoid this movie if you are expecting a faithful adaptation this is not it .While I don't particularly hate this particular Shirley Temple movie based on a classic children's book I would only recommend it to die hard Shirley fans . I would not recommend it to anyone who wants to see a faithful adaptation of a wonderful book I would recommend the Mary Pickford version first and I also just found out they made a 1932 version except I don't know if it's even available on DVD or VHS

Shôkôjo Seira
(2009)

Second best version
I can't believe no one has reviewed Shokojo Seira which is the Japanese version of "A Little Princess " this is a well produced movie that takes the classic book and puts a modern spin on it while never straying too far from the book ,even where they changed it up a bit like where they had a boy servant instead of a girl to play the part of Becky they managed to make it make sense they also managed to add Lottie renamed Rommi and it was very impressive because in this version it was a lady's college which I guess is equivalent to a High school .Yes the movie is in Japanese but there are subtitles in both Chinese and English

All in all excellent movie

Zoey 101
(2005)

Worst show among the worst shows
Zoey101 comes on before H20 which because of my friend I have started watching h20 not Zoey101,so I sometimes watch the last five minutes so I don't miss the intro to H20. This show is stupid and unrealistic ,the kids are snotty little brats and one episode,I guess one of the faculty member banned coffee and the kids,by kids I mean Zoey and her stupid little friends catch the teacher drinking coffee and threaten to blackmail him,and the dumb thing is the teacher just gives in,um okay,he's a teacher he's allowed to drink coffee and he doesn't have to listen to same silly little kids . Another episode had a bunch of new kids come to PCA to check it out and i'm guessing the whole thing was an excuse for a clip show because the potential students asked really stupid questions and of course Zoey was one of the question takers and I think it was Logan, than they had some random character who if she was able to answer any questions about the school or classes most likely would have given intelligent answers,of course this character was portrayed as a nerd, glasses, braces. What is it about media portraying people who wear glasses as nerds,I wear glasses,I'm not a nerd.

Zoey 101 is unrealistic ,there is no real drama everyone lives this perfect life and I'm sorry, but really Zoey Brooks is a Mary Sue Nick dropped it because Jamie Lynn got knocked up,but Teennick shows reruns

Mandie and the Secret Tunnel
(2009)

Best movie ever
Having grown up reading the Mandie mysteries,I was delighted when I heard they were going to be making a movie of the first book, only problem was it wasn't being shown in mainstream theatres and it went straight to DVD only to be carried by Christain bookstores, lucky for me I was able to buy a copy only yesterday,I was not disappointed, they stuck to the story and added more to Mandie background of how her grandfather saved and hid Cherokee Indians from the Trail of Tears. The scenic shots of North Carolina filmed at a national park are superb and the music is both haunting and beautiful. The story of Mandies background is told as if it were a fairy tale and unless you have read the books, there are times where you think it is just that, until it is revealed that it all true. Mandie is a spunky girl who does not let anything stop her from finding her Uncle John's will,I am looking forward to the second movie out this fall. This is a good family movie everyone will enjoy
