I enjoyed the movie as pure entertainment, but nothing more than that. I went into the theater with reasonable to high expectations, but what I ended up with was a rushed movie with no substance. It was very bland and the intelligence factor wasn't present. My perception of the FF4, based on the comics, is a team who exhibits style and aggression on an organizational level, with a little humor added in FF4 style. The comics displayed that flawlessly because that was the point of origin. When being converted into a feature film, execution of the comic idea was only half thought out. I remember somebody on the FF4 IMDb message board stating that the fault of the film's outcome was to blame on the director and crew, but that somebody forgot about the power of Hollywood's studios. You have writers hashing out rushed and mediocre scripts. That is a bore and just plain laziness. SFX don't make a movie, but Hollywood knows that.

In my opinion, the story was off from the beginning. Dr. Doom's character was ruined. The studio took one of Marvel's most villainous characters and turned him into a mediocre antagonist. His intelligence and ideas were overshadowed by Reed Richards (Ioan Gruffudd). Dr. Doom was disfigured in a lab experiment not aboard the same shuttle as the FF4!! Doom is one of the smartest men in the world according to the comics, and he is not easily beaten. I know big screen adaptations don't always follow comic ideas, but if a studio doesn't have enough resources or time, use other options. The mole man villain would've been more suitable. As a matter of fact, the mole man was FF4's first villain.

Bland and cheesy acting performances is what the audience is receiving from this movie. The only two characters that exhibited better performances and chemistry were Chris Evans (Johnny Storm) and Michael Chiklis (Ben Grimm). Just like the comics, these two are always at each other's throats. The film interprets that very well. Jessica Alba was not convincing at all. T&A does not save this movie. The casting director made a mistake with this girl. A more suitable actress with credibility and a little more age would've been better for this film. Ioan Gruffudd (Mr. Fantastic) worked with what he was given, but blame the unstructured dialog on the writers. Julian McMahon's demeanor was convincing, but again, the writers for the film made Doom's character very simple.

Overall, I'm a little divided with this film. On one hand, you have a very unstructured, weak plot combined with cheesy elements to make a superhero film. And, on the other hand, you have good cinematography with pretty good SFX. Fox studios needs to learn how to combine these elements to make a great film, or otherwise, they will end up with a movie like this. This film was a good idea, but was badly executed. Better luck next time Marvel!!

Man, what an improvement! Wake of Death is just what I needed after a series of flops at the box office in 2004. 2004 really was a bad year for theatrical releases, especially the one called Blade: Trinity. In my opinion, Van Damme saved the last quarter of the year. Who would've known Philippe Martinez could direct a Van Damme movie!! The movie delivered a strong emphasis as well as wicked action. It's about time a strong R-rated film made its presence felt. With an estimated budget of $20,000,000, the film looked more than its worth. It didn't feel cheap at all, and you could actually see what it's trying to convey to the audience.

Van Damme's portrayal of his character is very serious and shows that he is becoming a versatile actor. The reason why Hollywood producers aren't giving him a chance is because they like to out "P.O.S." trash movies with enormous budgets. Hollywood is reducing the fan base of any genre period. It looks like low budget, independent films are the way to go nowadays. This is the Van Damme that is going to hit the theaters hard pretty soon. The 90's Van Damme was strictly action with limited emotion, but there was nothing wrong with that. Presently, Van Damme is committing to great things. His charisma in Wake of Death was smooth and played very well throughout the movie. Simon Yam, who plays the villain, is his usual self, and I appreciate him playing alongside Van Damme. I look forward to seeing great things from him in the future also.

The action was very well mixed into the movie. There is no overuse of it, and it seemed like Van Damme wanted to take that approach. Apparently, Van Damme kept the action to a minimum. It smoothly mixed in with the drama of the film, and he knew how to control every element within the movie. His style of choice for martial arts in the film was basic. Mixing gun-play is productive when making a film noir type of movie. I like how Van Damme uses other martial artists to depict other characters in the film. Tony Schiena, who plays Tony, shows some promise as an up-and-coming actor or action star. I prefer for him to be an action star. God knows we need "REAL" martial artists in the film industry. Van Damme proves to Hollywood that he can make a smaller but effective film.

Overall, Wake of Death, proves that Van Damme is getting better at making small budget films, as well as making them effective. I will always be a fan of his and recommend this film highly.

I didn't expect too much from Hostage, but I was surprised to see drama and action mix well to create a terrific film. After Bruce Willis's past films, which involved some comedy and psychological thrillers, started to become a bore to me. I was thinking that he was going to throw in the towel. But, after viewing Tears of the Sun and the new Hostage flick, I must say I'm impressed. American films have fallen into the the state of boredom, and action stars icons are almost non-existent. Just look at Vin Diesel. He tried to establish himself as an action star, but with his recent string of PG-13 and PG flicks, his career might see a downfall. I think this is the right time for Bruce to get back into the John McClane mindset.

There was never a dull moment with Hostage. The elements flowed smoothly throughout the film. The acting was on point, and in my opinion, this is one of the best performances Bruce has given his fans in a long time. His character was sincere, concerned, and willing to sacrifice himself to protect his family and the other family involved. There was serious tension in a couple of scenes. The teenage antagonists seemed to play the roles well. I didn't expect them to pull off the roles the way they did. Mars, who was quiet and impatient was the most vicious. And, to those that haven't seen the movie, you'll see what I mean.

The action scenes were very well done. It wasn't an all out "Die Hard" fest, but it was suitable to the film. I see that a lot of people are complaining about the unnecessary violence in the film. They need to get a grip. It's a rated "R" film. It seems that Hollywood is trying to steer away from that type of content, which is BS. This film is reminiscent of the 80's and 90's film noir. I love it. Watered down PG-13 flicks only justify quantity. That means under-aged groups give away their money to meaningless movies. Quality over quantity people!! Recognize the real!! Overall, a return to form for Willis. I also liked the idea his daughter was in the movie. Her level of seriousness was below average, but still a good edition to the movie.

Like no other, Mr. Silver Fox himself, Hwang Jang Lee, has done it again. With Philip Ko as the protagonist and Mr. Silver Fox with his usual villainous on screen presence. Basically, revenge is the motive in this octane action flick. Of course, I admit that the story is flat except for the simplicity of the plot.

Plot Breakdown:

-Someone has a missing dog

-Hwang Jang Lee plays a corrupt official who tries to gain power and territory

-Lee locks up one of Ko's family members for pure torture

-Ko handles his business like a man and beats down everyone affiliated with Lee

-Long climatic battle between hero and villain (y'all know which is which)

It is stated that Hwang Jang Lee choreographed the fight scenes. All I have to say is that I'm very impressed with this man's work. Whether he's acting, producing, or choreographing, he's one of the best at what he does. The action scenes throughout the movie were pretty good. Philip Ko puts on a serious "kick a**" face when he's exploding on enemies. Lee does the same thing, but with more emphasis on legs. Both are brutal and hard-to-the-core. Remember though, there is no character development or emphasis on plot. Who cares!! The producers and the director of this film knew what they were doing. Wicked martial arts action is what I crave, and Hwang Jang Lee along with Philip Ko are just the ones to deliver it.

The last fight scene, in my opinion, should go down in cinematic martial arts history. As an avid viewer and aficionado of HK cinema, I would expect a board or big review of this movie. The reviewer before me is right though. Buy the movie for action only. You won't regret it. There is a second movie on the DVD version. The DVD version is a double feature. It is called Goose Boxer. Philip Ko is the villain. Not a very good edition to the DVD. Stick with TIGER OVER WALL!!

I went into Sky Captain with a good frame of mind, thinking that it was going to put its mark in movie history, but it just turned out to be mediocre. The movie was still good, but not great. Mainstream critics (Roger Ebert)are giving this movie four-star reviews, but this movie is just above your average action-adventure type laced with major CGI work. The CGI fits in well with the movie, but that seems to be the basis with Hollywood these days.

There were only a few things that didn't fare too well with me. The first half of the plot seemed well paced and structured, only to leave the ending with a clichéd idea done over many times. I thought the last part of the movie should've been rewritten. Gwyneth Paltrow's character was unnecessary for this movie. Her character was represented as incompetent and dull. She couldn't act her way out of a wet paper bag. Angelina Jolie should've been the main female lead, and she would've done a better job. Jude Law did a good job by the way. He had to work with what he was given, but seemed to be overshadowed by the other cast members. He indeed needed more involvement within the movie. His best friend and flunky, Giovanni Ribisi (Dex), had good execution and didn't seem confused with his character. Bai Ling's character also needed more involvement and character depth. The villainess role suits her well.

I'm an action freak, so I was expecting something of the sort. I was satisfied, but thought that the ending fight scene needed to be extended. With a PG rating, you can't expect too much. I guess I could understand that. CGI robots went along with the story and look of the movie. Movie experience had a vintage feel with futuristic technology implantation. The underwater scene was amazing, in that it reminded me of an Atlantis battle in a comic book. Angelina Jolie's commander character was one of the movie's best. It is always a pleasure to watch this beautiful woman on screen. She is very versatile with her acting abilities.

Raiders of The Lost Ark was what I thought of when watching Sky Captain. From the on-screen romance to the adventure hopping scenes, this movie is very similar. The charisma of the characters in Raiders is unmatched. Sky Captain almost met Raider's standards, but missed because of certain acting abilities (Paltrow) and other faults within the movie. Overall, this movie satisfied my movie going experience, and I'll probably buy it on DVD when it is released.

Let me start by saying that I own the original DVD (not deluxe edition) of this movie. But, sometimes I contemplate on keeping the movie or selling it to a used cd shop. Based on the survival horror series Resident Evil (Biohazard), the only 2 main themes that came from the game were the zombies and the Umbrella Corporation. I'm not real picky about converting games to motion pictures , but this movie's idea wasn't executed well. George Romero's dead trilogy (Night Of The Living Dead, Dawn Of The Dead, Day Of The Dead) set the standard for survival horrors, and they are the best of their genre. Even with all the SFX and technology we have, this movie could not live up to its hype.

In my opinion, the acting isn't really an important element in these types of movies. But, Michelle Rodriguez's character just didn't do it for me. Living off of her girlfight fame is long overdue. Another female character would've been suitable. Paul Anderson is known for his visually stunning sets, but he has trouble executing his idea for some reason (ex. Soldier, Alien vs. Predator). What's going on with Paul? Colin Salmon does what he can in his limited time within the movie. He has a very commanding performance, and he is very charismatic on screen. I think he should've been the main lead. Milla Jovovich is alright, but I think Colin would've done a better job.

I love the horror and gore scenes from earlier zombie movies. I'm not saying that this movie has to have an all out gore fest, but act like a R-rated movie. With the exception of a few scenes, this could've been PG-13 (Alien Vs. Predator!!!). Come on Paul!!

*SPOILER*: The scene where Michelle Rodriguez gets bit on the hand was too simple. Michelle's character shoots the zombie after getting bit on the hand. Too Simple!! Come On!! There were no bullet holes in the zombie. The audience was deprived because of quick edit shots.*END OF SPOILER*

Can somebody turn up the gore factor please?!! Zombie movies usually have a high gore factor. This was just an average action movie. It could've done better given the fact that there were a lot of elements to work with. RE2 didn't improve, and I've lost hope in the movie series. Dawn Of The Dead, both original and 2004 version, are better movies.

I'm sorry, but this movie was really bad. I don't understand how are these other reviewers giving this movie credit and stating that it is one the best video game adaptations ever to be put on screen, How?! These are young teens that think women in tight skirts can save a movie. DEAD WRONG!! Paul Anderson has now screwed up three franchises (Alien, Predator, Resident Evil), and he's not even considered the audience he's making these movies for. The style and impact of his direction and scriptwriting has decreased so bad that sometimes his movies become unwatchable (Alien Vs. Predator). Alexander is nothing but a flunky to Anderson. That's a shame.

Alexander Witt helms this movie as his first directorial debut. But, its a stinker!! Whoever thought filming a movie, calling the set Raccoon City, and disguising it as Toronto would work. People who live in that area are probably laughing at this more than I am. This movie lacked wit and substance. There was really no point in making this sequel. These movies prove that Hollywood truly is a business about making money. Apparently Anderson had too much influence on Witt because his style and direction are very similar. Quick shot editing, big explosions, a lot of glass breaking, describes this movie. The camera shots were so bad that it was laughable (worse than Alien Vs. Predator). The theater audience can attest to that. What's the idea of using all of these Matrix elements (slow-motion bullets, cheap sound effects). This is nothing but a big B-movie with a lot of explosions and fine women. I didn't find nothing wrong with the SFX in the movie. They got at least something done right!! But, make-up of the Nemesis monster seemed like I was watching another movie of the Toxic Crusader.

The zombies were some of the worst and really took a backseat to whatever the movie was trying to do. Survival horror is what I think of when hearing Resident Evil, not martial arts action. There was no horror factor at all in this movie. It was laughable at the most. The cast, OMG, the cast!! Mike Epps served no purpose but a comic relief in this feature. A few laughs are not going to save this one. Oded Fehr's badass character was decent, but Sienna Guillory in a tight mini-skirt is unbelievable. Sexy, YES, but not for this movie. Milla, Milla, Milla. Being sexy on-screen does not save you either. With heightened superhuman powers and strength, this seemed more like a Saturday morning cartoon. But, she had to work with what she was given.

The first RE at least was paced throughout and had some form of style. It almost seemed like a four-star movie compared to this one. I regret paying my $6.00 to the fullest. I went in very skeptical about the results, and what I received was failure to deliver. Boycotting some of Hollywood's movies seems logical these days. Being let down by Hollywood is nothing new. Why the movie was set up for another sequel, I don't know. This is a disgrace to the video game, and Anderson knows it. The style was below average, and the gore factor wasn't present. Dawn of the Dead, both original and the 2004 version, are better movies.

Paul Anderson's vision of a movie does not go hand-in-hand with originality of an idea. Mortal Kombat was pretty good (hated the PG-13 rating though). Resident Evil was just okay (rated R but just didn't have the feel). Now, we get Aliens Vs. Predator. Ever since watching the Alien and Predator films from the 80s and 90s, I was expecting something like this. Also reading the Dark Horse comics of these two rival foes was exciting. But, this movie did not live up to the standards of the previous films or the comics. I admit though, some elements did take place, but couldn't make up for the movie as a whole. So, what do we get? A simmered down version of our two favorites slapped with a PG-13?!! Fox should be ashamed. The movie had a cheap, rushed feel to it. Both franchises weren't done justice. Where are the marines? What happened to the fight on the other planet? This movie needed more time and possibly another director (James Cameron or Ridley Scott perhaps).

I'm not going to comment on the acting that much because this isn't a movie where dialog is superior to anything else in the movie. The two that really stood out were Sanaa Lathan and Big Boss Hogg Lance Henriksen (still going!!). Sanaa has strong standings to become a great actress. I wish her success in the future. Some of the dialog in the movie was laughably cheesy and unnecessary. Raoul Bova did alright too, but the rest of the cast was just there for the Alien and Predator killing satisfaction.

The CG effects in the movie were good and didn't throw the movie off at all. As a matter of fact, CG and some of the fight sequences saved the movie from being a big disgrace to the fans. The predator cloaking was great, and their weapons look more updated from the previous two predator movies. The editing was horrible though. Every time an Alien or one of the predators kill the scene was cut, and I mean CUT!! For those who haven't seen the movie, you will understand why a R rating needed to take place. A fight scene that took place in a chamber, between a predator and an alien, was badly edited. The camera was too shaky, and the lighting was displaced. Also, the slow motion BS is annoying. Besides the flaws, some satisfaction came out of the sequences.

Important: The predator should have been portrayed as being more agile and versatile in combat. The aliens should never get the upper hand unless the predator is outnumbered or wounded (READ THE DARK HORSE COMICS OR WATCH THE PREVIOUS MOVIES!!).

Overall, this is soaked down to just a decent popcorn flick. I hope that the dvd will acquire a R rating and add more valuable scenes to the movie. The theatrical version just doesn't cut. I wanted to see this more than Spider-Man!! Paul Anderson and company (FOX!! AARGH!!) let me down and also losing respect from me. Hope the sequel takes another turn (also possibly another director) and gives the fans a movie that we deserve.

For a low budget movie this was really good. I put this well above your average action B-movie. Sean and Corinne delivered in this movie, and they didn't seem camera shy. Watch out for the cameos of Jeanne and Jared. I didn't think that the producers would even consider that, but the runner-ups deserve that much.

I'll be looking forward to more of Sean and Corinne's involvement in the movie entertainment industry. Sean's character seemed very genuine, and sexy Corinne's character was pretty hard-nosed and on point. She connected well with the action sequences and executed with confidence. It was a great idea to cast Billy Zane as the smart and witty villain. His charisma on screen is always a pleasure to watch. The chemistry between Zane and Sean's character was pretty good. The action sequences weren't cheesy and seemed to connect throughout the movie. Of course there were flaws, but that comes with the territory.

Overall, this was a good movie considering the budget and the fact that it was made for TV. Sean and Corinne did a good job considering that they are newcomers to the game. I hope that Jeanne, Jared, and the rest of the Next Action Star cast get their chance to also join their co-stars in entertainment success.

This show is very much a classic! Reminiscing on the episodes I used to watch in the '80s is fun. I used to have old Marvel videos and used to view the '60s version on certain channels. I might not have been born in the '60s, but I can still appreciate shows like these. I was born in the early '80s anyway. I bought the DVD set, and I'm content with it. Some episodes are still not remastered, but I'm dealing with it. From the theme music to the music throughout the show, it was fun to watch over and over again to the max. I wish they would release a cd soundtrack to the show and remaster it somehow.

The are flaws though. The first season and a half was the best. During the third season and after, the show used psychedelic themes and recycled concepts. That guy Ralph Bakshi must've been on something, because the animation sequences were overused, and Spider-man battling aliens and mole men were bad ideas. Doc Ock, Green Goblin, Electro, and the Rhino top those ideas all day everyday.

However, the show is still a classic!! Yes, the show could've been produced much better, but this was the first animated Spider-man.

Spider-Man 2 may have improved on the action sequences, but the storyline seemed to repeat some of the themes from the first. Choosing to be a superhero and an average human individual was dwelled on too much. They established that in the first movie. The dramatic part consisted of 70% of the movie, and tha action was about 30%. Dialog seemed to be cheesy at times and Kristen Dunst soaked up too much screen time. Alfred Molina needed more character development and not only as evil Doc Ock. The movie should've elaborated a little more on his life as a scientist. The simple fact is that he was underused. Willem Dafoe was a much better villain. Tobey Maguire was the same as usual, but improved a bit. James Franco's tired drunk role was ridiculous and complained too much. J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson reigned in this sequel. Any of marvel's writers or editors would've done a better job than the screenwriters hired, and they would've wrote the script for cheaper.

One particular part I have to give praise for was the scene of the burning apartment. Tobey's character as Peter proved he can save lives without the powers of the spider. Confidence and self-esteem were the keys.

The action sequences were much improved on though. CGI doesn't make a movie, but in this case, this movie proved to be some of the best special effects ever made. Doc Ock and Spidey's fight were amazing. A new graphics chip was acquired to make the sequences, and it shows. Only thing is that the action was limited again. Director, next time please consider more time on the action.

Overall, the film is about the same as the first. The action is improved, but the storyline and character development is in need of work. Some of elements of part I still have an advantage on the sequel.

This review is 2 years late, but I'm glad I'm writing it now because I got the chance to see Spider-man 2. As a marvel fan, Spider-man is one of my favorites. So, when they came out with this movie I was excited. The movie was good, but it has some flaws.

Flaw 1: Spider-man made his webbing mechanism. He didn't get webbing powers from the radioactive spider.

Flaw 2: Peter Parker and Mary Jane didn't meet until his first year at E.S.U. (Empire State University). He dated Betty Brant first!!

Flaw 3: Flash Thompson didn't date Mary Jane!! Mary Jane didn't even go to the same high school as Peter!!

Flaw 4: Where's Gwen Stacy (Parker's 2nd Love)!!

I could go on, but why bother? I can't believe Stan Lee let the screen writers switch the story around!!

Besides the flaws, the movie still showed out. The acting wasn't great and sometimes the dialogue seemed kind of boring, but the movie wasn't supposed to be like that, right? Willem Dafoe made his presence known and stood apart from the rest of the cast. The casting director couldn't have chosen a better villain. Tobey Maguire played Peter's personality very well and is very believable. James Franco is okay, while Kristen Dunst proves annoying. Her character could've been filled by another female lead, but it wasn't supposed to be like that, right? Oh well, the movie had to be made. Different strokes for different folks!!

Even though it was limited, the action was good. The final showdown between the Goblin and Spidey was satisfying. The Goblin's costume could've been made better, but I wasn't complaining too much. More time could've been put towards the action sequences, but these screenwriters, UGHH!! I'm really impressed at the fact Willem Dafoe did all his stunts. He really outdid himself and deserves praise. I also commend Tobey Maguire on his training getting fit for the role. Not everybody can be Spider-man!!

Overall, this was a good movie. People have to understand that this was an introduction movie. Sometimes there is not as much action, but a certain goal must be fulfilled to build up a story and its characters. There certainly were flaws, but what's done is done.

Hong Kong used to produce some of the most hardcore action movies in the 80's and early 90's. Having not producing any in a while, their trying to come back to formula with movies like Fulltime Killer and Infernal Affairs. Anyway, in my opinion, Tiger Cage is an excellent crime thriller amongst Hong Kong cinema. It still stands above some movies in Hong Kong and the all "arrogant" Hollywood. They don't make movies like these anymore. The plot is great, and the movie didn't seem to have any flaws. Whether a protagonist or a antagonist, Simon Yam always proves that he is the man for the job. As for this movie, he plays the villain very well. Might I also add that Jacky Cheung gives a gritty performance. Donnie Yen gives Michael Woods a run for his money, and Carol "Do Do" Cheng is great as a female cop who struggles to keep her personal life as well as her cop life intact.

The action is top notch. Hardcore and served with devastating blows is the way I like it. Master Yuen Woo Ping did a fine job with this one. Also, look out for his minute Cameo. While Martial Arts was evident in the movie, old-fashioned street fighting was served with the main course. Watch the last 15 minutes and see what I mean. Donnie Yen is always impressive, but I was surprised at Jacky Cheung. The boy has some kicks to his disposal. He does it with so much vengeance. This is one of Yuen Woo Ping's better movies. In fact, this is one of his best movies (way better than that Matrix BS).

Overall, this movie is one of Hong Kong's best efforts and deserves a re-release and restoration. One can only hope that this and more Asian movies are treated with respect (MIRAMAX AAARGGGH!!!!).

This movie is an action comedy. I don't it really was supposed to be a serious action movie. Most people criticize the movie, claiming that it didn't deliver and the fact that it wasn't one of Van Damme's worst movie. In respect to the movie, it is a action comedy in a lighter aspect. I admit though, the movie did have its flaws, and some of van damme's dialogue was too simplistic and cheesy. However, the had its moments, and van damme is still in top shape. I also liked how Van Damme used some of his old co-stars from previous movies (The Quest, Cyborg). Overall, this movie should satisfy any van damme fan. This movie could've produce a lot more, and the Charlton Heston character was unnecessary.

After the first two "In the Line Of Duty" movies, I was very pleased on how well the series was doing. It keeps getting better!!! Cynthia Khan did a fantastic job taking over for Michelle Yeoh. In my opinion, she's better than Michelle Yeoh, and executes her martial arts skills more aggressively. The casting of Dick Wei and Michiko Nishiwaki as the villains were great. You need baddies like these to give the hero more of a challenge. Look out for cameos by Melvin Wong, Robin Shou, Eric Tsang, and Richard Ng. Some of the cameos were for comedy purposes, and some actually had a purpose for the plot of the movie.

The plot of the movie was okay. It wasn't too simple or complicated. Cynthia Khan's training as a police officer justifies her entry into the "In The Line Of Duty" series. There really isn't a strong supporting cast except the Japanese cop that helped her trail the baddies. Great comedy supported the movie and her crazy overprotected uncle was stupid funny.

The action scenes for the movie were choreographed by Brandy Yuen, who is Yuen Woo Ping's sister. When I found that out, I was sure that the movie was going to have some hardcore action scenes in them. The warehouse boat fight scene was raw and gritty. The Japanese cop and the Japanese fugitive duked it out like stone cold street fighters. As the movie progresses and gets deeper, the action gets better. Overall, great entry for Cynthia Khan into the series. In my opinion, the 2nd best in the series. I wish Cynthia would make more action movies these days, but the industry is saturated with too many fake action stars (Matrix AARGGHH!!).

The first Punisher movie with Dolph Lundgren was good, despite what other people and the punk critics say. Its emphasis was put more on the action and the blood-thirsty revenge of the Punisher. The second Punisher was the same, but it was instilled with a lot of emotion. I like that. As a dedicated fan of comics (Marvel especially), I expected a dark movie. I got just that.

Ebert gave it 2 stars, but I'm going to give it more. Thomas Jane did an excellent job, and he was very convincing as the Punisher. The rest of the cast also did a wonderful job. This film went into more depth with Castle's family, so the audience can imagine more of the emotional pain. The movie also included stories within the story itself. A little more depth was extended on most of the characters in the movie. John Travolta's villain role was cool, but reminded me of his Swordfish role. Nevertheless, his villain was great and proved believable. Rebecca Romjin (.....Stamos???) did a great job with her character as a help to Castle along with the other two male characters. Ebert calls it a dark, grim movie, DAMN RIGHT!!! Read the comics ROGER!! Stop giving movies like Cold Mountain "2 Thumbs Way Up!! (Yeah Right)".

The action was relentless, just like I like it. The death scenes are really HYPHY!! Watch out for the Punisher/Russian fight scene. You love how it goes down in the end. Punishing by Punisher terms means an all out gun, knife, grenades, etc. fest. But, he also punished mentally. Watch the movie and see what I mean.

Overall, this remake was an introduction on how the Punisher is going to grow into his vigilante ways. Great job Thomas Jane!! I'm looking forward to seeing you punish more in the sequels!!!

Why the hell was Kane Hodder cast in this?! He has much better potential with the Jason character, and hopefully he will be recast in the next Jason movie. Also, FILMMAKERS PLEASE RECAST KANE AS JASON AGAIN. I'M A LOYAL FAN!!!! Anyway, back to Darkwolf. This movie sucks!! The girls are pretty, I can say that at least. I don't understand why the power ranger chick decided to do nude scenes. But hey, got to make money right? The only person who tried to act, in my opinion, was the cop. I can't say that for everybody else though. The creature CGI effects were horrible. It's like the creators of the film tried to get a quick release. Do it right the first time!! But wait, I guess you have to have movies like this to laugh at right? The photo shoot was great might I add. My advice, leave this on the shelf and go rent Howling I or Dog Soldiers if you want werewolf entertainment!

I don't why Dolph keeps on doing these mediocre movies. Dolph is one of my favorite on screen action stars, but this bites the dust!! The acting was horrible for everybody. I think Dolph needed the money or something. Bad acting, bad script writing, and a bunch of foul-mouthed kids aren't going to make a movie. This movie reminded me of the substitute series. It might as well have been "Substitute 5 - Teacher's A.W.O.L." or something. The villian in this movie was to soft and not very convincing at all. He acted like he was filled with a lot of conniption, but his female counterpart was more cold-hearted and dangerous than him. The teenagers they used for the film were movie rejects. It's like the script writers and the directors told them to just curse throughout the movie. The action wasn't no surprise either. Coming from a movie with high school teenagers handling big guns and trying to act like Rambo, COME ON!!! Go watch a movie like toy soldiers with Sean Astin, or watch the first substitute with Tom Berenger. Those should fare better. At least its good to see Dolph running and jumping considering his age. COME ON DOLPH!!! DO SOME BETTER ACTION MOVIES!!!

Casting Samuel L. Jackson, Andy Garcia, and the lovely Ashley Judd in this film was a mistake. They are good actors and actresses. Why they agreed to do this film, I don't have any clue. The chemistry in the film didn't mix well. It was like the production of the film was rushed. Instead, this should have been straight to video. I figured out the killer very easily. I don't like it easy . MAKE ME THINK PEOPLE!! Judging by this film, Hollywood is really running out of ideas quick. The fact that Ashley Judd played a slut was poor judgement on the casting director's part. They should've pick somebody like Kristy Swanson or Amanda Peet. Samuel and Andy, COME ON GUYS!! Please choose your parts carefully next time, or the movie will be very disappointing.

This is some of Michelle Yeoh's best work, alongside Magnificent Warriors and Yes Madam (A.K.A. In The Line of Duty or Police Assassins). This movie has a mix of drama, hard-hitting action, and comedy (little less on comedy though).

In my opinion, this movie could've done without Michael Wong. He tries to create a lovable character but he just seemed to get in the way of the movie. Well, I guess the movie needed some comedy. I appreciate the casting of Henry Sanada (Hiroyuki Sanada) in the film. After Ninja in the Dragon's Den, I was hoping he would continue to pursue action flicks. His martial arts skills always seems to impress me. His character in the film is portrayed as cool and slick, but if provoked, can be aggressive. Michelle Yeoh's character is very dedicated to her work as a police officer. She will enforce the law by any means.

The action in this film was very excellent and brutal. The club scene was the best. I'm pretty sure the actors and actresses had to use some ointment to take care of the bruises after some of the scenes. Groundwork dominated this film. I really didn't notice wirework.

Overall, this a great film. The replay value is very high. Besides the action, drama and a little comedy gave the film a good mix. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Awwww Man!!! HK action is great!! Twinkle Twinkle My Lucky Stars (A.K.A. My Lucky Stars 2) surpasses the two previous installments, Winners And Sinners and the first My Lucky Stars. I admit though, the movie starts slow at first, but its WELL worth the watch. The warehouse fight scene was excellent!! A young Andy Lau has some good moves for a non-martial artist. Jackie and Yuen Biao are at their usual, taken baddies down with acrobatic aerial moves and kicks. The climax was also off the hook, with Richard Norton matching up against Sammo Hung. Some of the best choreography is shown in this movie. Once again, Jackie is not the limelight of this action flick. That is still great because everybody has a chance to get involved in this film.

One more thing... THE COMEDY, THE COMEDY!! Richard Ng and Eric Tsang return with the rest of the lucky stars to give the audience more of their comedic antics. Also, look out for more cameo appearances throughout the movie. Overall, a great comedy actioner from Hong Kong!!

My Final Judgement: 10/10

This movie was very funny! Sammo Hung has a true sense of humor. There was more comedy than action present, but it works out just fine. Jackie isn't the star of the movie. I think it works out better that way. The movie wasn't meant to be all action, but comedy mostly. The cameos were excellent!! Dick Wei's usual villainous role doesn't surprise me, but he shows off his moves and throws down in this movie!! Jackie, Yuen, and Sammo's chemistry on screen is incredible. I wonder when they trained at the Peking Opera School, did they ever think that they would use their skills on screen? Anyway, Eric Tsang is a very funny, versatile actor. His childish antics in this movie are hilarious. If you want to watch hilarious HK comedy, go meet the Lucky Stars!! They're all that and a bag of Kung Fu.

What can I say? I love this movie. Man, I'm glad I own this. I probably watched this movie at least 15 times total. The majority of Hong Kong action movies in the 80's were highly enjoyable. I especially liked the way HK actors and actresses star in the same movies most of the time with special cameos (unlike Hollywood, too much money involved). HK filmstars come together and make good movies, and I appreciate their efforts. Master Yuen Woo Ping's character was very funny with the addition of Corey Yuen in Eastern Condors.

Now, onto the movie. The plot was very suitable for the movie. The acting wasn't cheesy, and tried to be on a more serious level in terms of warfare with an emphasis on action. But, we're not watching for the acting are we?

The acting was OH SO VICIOUS? Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao are bada****!!! The choreography was well executed. The moves were carried out very smoothly, and the majority of the actors got a chance to show off their skills. The sneak attack jungle scene along with the climax of the movie were my favorites. I have to give the stars of this film and the stunt people the credit they deserve. The way they execute the action scenes are amazing. Hollywood will never be able to create these masterpieces without the aide of wires and digital effects. Besides, Hollywood never lets HK action stars use their full potential on screen. Hollywood wants it done their way.

Overall, this is a film to be praised. I've seen many HK actioners, and they are all impressive films. Eastern Condors, in my opinion, is a landmark in HK cinema. This movie brings together some of the best in the business.

It's films like this that gives Hollywood the goosebumps. Hong Kong Cinema for years has influenced Hollywood. Not say that Hollywood influenced Hong Kong too, but this is why Hollywood wants to do remakes all the time. I know that the undercover cop, crime thriller theme has been used too many times, but this film really blew me away. Infernal Affairs is the best crime thriller I've seen in years. Tony Leung, Andy Lau, Anthony Wong, and Eric Tsang all give excellent performances. The climax put the icing on the cake and was very unexpecting. I respect Hong Kong cinema a lot. From Kung Fu to Crime Movies, they know how to make them. I hope that more movies like this pop up in the future. Everybody has been making a buzz over this movie. When it is released here in the US in August, I'll go see it again on the big screen. Luckily, I was able to order the dvd. I hope that Hollywood doesn't dub it when it arrives here (Miramax for example).

Hong Kong Cinema has to be the best to happen to action film history. Well, I'll say Asian Cinema has had a tremendous impact period. Hollywood just can't stop duplicating their style (Matrix for example). Hong Kong action films in the 80's should be given a lot of praise because of what has been accomplished. I'm very happy to say that I'm a martial arts FANATIC!!!

Yes Madam! (A.K.A. Police Assassins) kicked A**!!! I loved the way Michelle and Cynthia connected with each other. I have a lot of respect for those 2 ladies along with Cynthia Khan (another female heroine). The last fight says enough, it doesn't need to be explained. When I saw this movie for the first time, I rewinded that same scene at least 12 times to get that rush again. This is the type of action that action films are missing today. There are too many digital effects and wire work in today's line of work. I wish Hong Kong action films would repeat this formula again along with other movies.

About the content of the movie: Well, the movie is kind of on and off with action scenes. At times, I think the movie didn't know whether to be serious or be comedic. The scene with Sammo Hung, David Chiang, and Richard Ng should've been omitted. I liked the fact that Tsui Hark was in this movie. This is the only movie where I've seen him acting. He did a good job though. He interaction between aspirin and strepsil was funny enough. The first 5 minutes of the movie was off da hook!! Michelle shows off her bad a** cop skills. Cynthia shows off some moves at the airport. And then..... THE FINAL SCENE!!!! To tell the truth, I bought the movie because of the final scene. Those 2 ladies were so graceful with the fight scenes at the end. I enjoyed every punch and kick.

Its amazing how Michelle's dancing skills helped so much with her martial arts training. IMPRESSIVE!!!

My Overall Judegement: 3.5/4 stars
