All She Wrote
(2018)

Excellent! Watched it twice already
This is a movie I can't do justice to. Of all three Niki Iliev movies so far, 'Knockout' represents his best work. I really enjoyed the idea of an ex-fighter with a mental disability who earns his living out of music gigs, his old hobby. I have to admit, there is always something special about mentally troubled characters.

Gary Dourdon, without doubt, pulls off a fantastic Oscar-worthy performance. I have watched a few of his movies, yes, he has a charisma, but this is arguably his most profound one. The character of Aaron makes him reveal his true talents.

Good directing. I really liked the scene with Zhana walking on the streets of Bansko, as beautiful as she is, creating an interesting contrast with the ruins of a collapsed building seen in the background.

And the music is just awesome!

Bulgarian cinema is reviving. Slowly, obviously, but we have faith. Please, continue with the good work. Hopefully, Bulgarian cinema will get on the radar for those movie fans who have a sense for nicely told stories and terrific acting.

Crossing Lines
(2013)

Why did you change the team? Ruined the show!
Just to be clear, I have nothing against the new actors, but why did the producers made such a dramatic change of the cast? I still miss Carl Hickman, Eva Vittoria and Tommy. That wasn't fair. The first two seasons were great. I like the idea of an international crime unit investigating series of murders committed in various countries across the globe. I really appreciate the fact that many countries from the Balkans are involved in the story lines. Indeed, each episode followed a truly captivating story. And just when the characters began to reveal themselves so we can take a closer look at their personalities, they disappeared from the show, out of nothing. The first two seasons were amazing and really stand out. Please, bring these characters back!

Jericho
(2006)

Great Show, But Something Was Missing
I watched the two series of "Jericho" but was disappointed to understand that the show has been canceled because of poor rating results. What a pity. Luckily for the fans the story continues in a series of comic books. Although the comics are really great I wish I had the opportunity to watch the show on TV but I guess I have to live with that. The show follows interesting plot that tells a captivating story and tackling some controversial issues referring to politics, government control and corporation affairs. I really liked almost all the characters, especially Jake, Heather, Hawkins, Eric and Dale. Emily is nice, although I don't think that the choice of an actress is quite correct. Don't get me wrong, Ashley Scott is great but isn't she too supermodel-beautiful for a post-apocalypse TV drama? On the other hand, Heather as leading female character seems to fit perfectly. As I see it, she is charming and down to earth. What I slightly disliked about the show is that it does not describe truthful picture of a post-apocalyptic world. Characters were not as desperate and hopeless as they should be, knowing that so many people have died in the nuclear blasts. I think they were not convincing enough. All things considered, the team has done a great job. The show just became exceedingly engaging and conspiratorial in the second series and they cancelled it. What a waste! To be honest, I am tired of getting to like TV series that turn out to be canceled eventually. It is so cruel to the fans.

Ma vie en l'air
(2005)

A French romantic movie that has many merits
Someone has put a wrong poster of the film by mistake. Can you please replace the poster with the real one. Here is a link to see how it looks like. www.rottentomatoes.com/m/ma-vie-en-lair/ The black-and-white poster has nothing to do with the movie.

At first when I decided to watch 'Ma vie en l'air'' I did not have high expectations but then it turn out that the movie was far more interesting than I thought. The movie follows the story of Yann Kerbec, an instructor for an airline company who uses flight simulators to evaluate pilots' abilities to handle in extreme conditions. Ironically, Yann himself is afraid of flying. This becomes an issue when his girlfriend (considered to be the woman of his dreams) was offered an job in different country.

Compared to most French romcoms this is joyful and entertaining, worth seeing. The film provides a pleasing romantic story. Vincent Elbaz and Gilles Lellouche, playing childhood friends, are a fantastic duo. Even though the script may seem to be rather predictable, I enjoyed every minute of the film. If you are looking for a pleasant and emotive story with down-to-earth characters, funny and true to life situations, something rather different than an ordinary American romcom (but also gripping), that is the film for you. It would be a shame not to mention how pretty stunning Marion Cotillard was as Alice. She was probably in her late 20s when the movie was shot, however, she looks even younger. And so beautiful! I really enjoyed watching her as Vincent Elbaz's lovebird. They make such a nice couple. Perhaps they were both rising stars of the French cinema at back then. The director Rémi Bezançon has an eye for the details. The senior pilot' s story was touching too. Well done!

El cártel de los sapos
(2008)

Great TV series about the mafia and drug dealers, worth watching
Very good and thrilling TV series. At first I thought it would be similar to traditional Latino soap operas, but then I came to realize it tackles serious issues and present quite realistic picture of the Columbian mafia. The whole idea about displaying the world of drug cartels is very challenging. 'El Cartel de los Sapos' follow an interesting plot, filled with fascinating dialogues and amazing acting. I think Manolo Cardona shows remarkable acting skills. I wish he does well in USA and hope to see him in many more successful American movies in the future. Anyone who is looking for non-American series with meaningful script and persuasive actors, I recommend not to miss this one. Watch 1-2 episodes then decide whether you like it or not.
