The Moorside
(2017)

Don't watch this if you want answers.....
I've only seen the first episode but I can be confident that my rating isn't going to change and neither will my opinion of this program.

Firstly, don't watch it if you think you're going to find out anything you didn't already know from TV and newspaper reports. Don't watch it if you want to see sweeping camera shots of Dewsbury and the surrounding countryside. It wasn't filmed there.

You'll watch this because it was written by Neil Mckay who has written some great TV in the past. He's written TV shows about the Moors Murderers and Fred & Rose West. You have to remember that when shows like this are written there will be some added drama that didn't actually happen so as to sex up the show.

The problem with this show is that it's impossible to sex up so there's lots of dialogue showing the "can-do" attitude of the residents of The Moorside estate. Whether much of it actually happened is questionable, however, the actresses did spend time with their real-life counterparts so there will be some true to life scenes and dialogue.

For me, it was exactly what I expected from a show on this subject.

Santa Clarita Diet
(2017)

Funny from start to finish..... Don't eat whilst watching.
Since I saw the trailer for this series i've been counting down the days until I could watch this. And it did not disappoint.

The humour is dark from start to finish. I was never convinced about the acting skills of Timothy Olyphant in the past but in this he's exceptional. Drew Barrymore wasn't so much but the chemistry on screen worked along with that of their TV daughter.

The series is gory, there's no getting away from it. But the way the characters dealt with the goriness was brilliant.

One of my favourite scenes is seeing Drew Barrymore with a wonky eye and seeing Timothy Olyphant help her straighten it out.

The dialogue is also very amusing and the relaxed way that the characters deal with the bizarre scenarios is amazing.

The characters are amusing and so is the plot line. I really can't wait for the second season.

I would recommend this to all my friends without question.

The Mechanic
(2011)

A really good action movie!!
The synopsis: Jason Statham plays a hit-man, who acquires a new pupil.

The characters: I enjoyed Jason Statham in this film, he is a good action actor and he is a much better character actor than Sly Stallone and Arnie.....Which isn't too difficult. My one problem with him is his accent. He's English, a cockney no less. So rather than flitting between English and and bad American accents lets just stick to your natural voice.

Ben Foster plays a strong role as Stathams trainee/sidekick. I'm just so surprised how he got from grieving son to deadly killer in such a short space of time.

As far as the plot and the film go, i enjoyed it. I had visions of a Leon remake but it was far more than that. Much more action than Leon and less pondering. I love Leon but this movie doesn't really compare in that respect. It's better than the Transporter series of movies and it shows that Statham is growing as an actor.

All in all a good film and i would highly recommend it.

Enjoy

Faster
(2010)

I thought this would be bad but................
I went into watching this movie thinking it might be bad but because i had a spare 1 hour 37 minutes i decided to give it a go. I'm very open minded that way. However it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be. In fact it was actually good. I imagined cheesy lines, but there were none. I thought there would be giant explosions, but nothing.

I do rate Billy Bob Thornton as actor and he put in a good performance. Even Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson played a a good part. I would definitely watch a movie just about The Killer.

It was however a touch predictable but then when you watch a lot of movies you get a sense of whats gonna happen. And thats what happened here for me here.

Finally another good performance for Jennifer Carpenter. I love her Dexter character, Debs and even though she only had a couple of minutes here, it was still worth it.

I hope you enjoy it.
