Secondhand Lions
(2003)

A Family Movie with class
From beginning to end, this movie rates a perfect ten as an excellent family movie. The three main characters were well performed by Haley J. Osment, Michael Caine and Robert Duvall.

From his early days playing in the movie Zulu, Michael has always given us excellent performances, and his role in Secondhand Lions was very good. Likewise, Robert Duvall always gives us outstanding performances such as his parts in The Godfather and many more.

Now, the star performance by young Osment in his role as the young lad that came to live with the two old weathered uncles was as good as it gets. It truly was a combined teaching and learning experience for the three characters.

There are likely many messages in the movie, but the acting alone was very entertaining. The three lead stars worked very well together to deliver a four star performance.

The Prize Fighter
(1979)

CONWAY & KNOTTS at their best
Well, I don't know about other comments, but when I saw the movie in 1979 or 1980, I thought it was a very good little comedy with the shenanigans and slapstick of Knotts & Conway,

As far as "Boxing" movies or documentaries, it was no "Raging Bull" or "Golden Boy", and it didn't have the real life sadness but redemption of "Ring of Fire - The Emile Griffith Story" or the excellence of "Somebody Up There Likes Me", but it wasn't a drama or true story.

It was a comedy that was well acted and deserves a three star rating on the entertainment value. Thanks to Tim, Don and the cast & crew for a slice of movie magic.

Ring of Fire: The Emile Griffith Story
(2005)

A Champion of Champions
As an amateur boxer in the Sixties, it was always great to watch some of the great boxers in action, and Emile Griffith was a Champion of Champions.

It was also sad for Emile to be part of the burden of the tragedy in1962.

OVER THE YEARS IT WAS GREAT TO WATCH HIS BOUTS WITH THE LIKES OF Joey Archer and many others.

Watching the Emile Griffith story was like a trip down Memory Lane with a positive ending. To see Emile and Benny Paret Jr. together in the closing scenes was like seeing some dark clouds being gently blown away by a breath of fresh air.

Throughout the show it was great to see old faces from the past such as Gene Fullmer, Gaspar Ortega, Jose Torres, but most of all to see Griffith in action within the ring and his life beyond the limelight.

A river of tears, teardrop by lonely teardrop, can never wash away the pain and sorrow for the Paret family and their loss. But, to have Benny Jr. join together with Emile Griffith in their meeting was the highest and brightest moment of movie magic.

I can't rate or compare Ring of Fire: The Emile Griffith Story to any other movie, TV show or slice of history. It stands alone as a unique treasure with endless value.

Pocketful of Miracles
(1961)

Top Rated Show with a great Cast of Characters
A real blue ribbon movie with an interesting story line and excellent acting by a well selected cast. Betty's role as "Apple Annie" is priceless.! From the opening of the movie each scene proved to be of interest and very

entertaining. The scene where "Apple Annie" was changed to resemble a classy lady was

funny. This was helped with the likes of Peter Falk. The various scenes with the cast of characters involved in selling or begging were very good. And their final scene with them gathered on the jetty waving goodbye to "the daughter of Apple Annie with her Prince Charming" was

excellent.

As there are many stars and character actors involved in this brilliant film, as not to overlook the fine work of all of them, it is a giant thank you to the whole team!

Another film that puts the word "Class" in classic!

Cold Mountain
(2003)

Another excellent performance by Renee
Renee continues to shine bright as a complete actress. The question that must be asked is: Does Renee qualify to step down from the "Cold Mountain" to sizzle white hot on the stage at the academy award's barn burner this spring.

For us the fans, we are left to watch and wait from the sidelines while the members of the academy do their stuff!

Interesting Show
Just saw it tonight on television. Once again, a show with ROTH and PENN

appears a little twisted but good. The appearance with Michael ROOKER in the cast can always guarantee some heavy scenes. Also, it was a treat seeing a younger Renee ZELLWEEGER in a limited role. Of course, all four actors have played in better movies, but the mix in this show was excellent.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
(2003)

Good action yarn, but some duplication re cave scene
The leading actors were all excellent. Also, the many character actors gave added spice to the movie. The movie could have been edited down by removing some of the duplication How many times did we need to visit the cave.
