Bodyguard
(2018)

Surprisingly intriguing in a world filled with crime TV
It's important to note that this show makes choices you shouldn't expect it to make, keeping you on the edge of your seat. It's incredibly well acted and laid out, although the first half of the first season carries more intrigue than the second half, where things fall off to a degree. It presents likeable characters and complex storylines.

Ozark
(2017)

Kudos to acting, cinematography, and storylines
This show so rarely introduces characters that aren't interesting it's miraculous. Even characters that are highly unlikeable are still interesting. The cinematography definitely deserves a note as well, with scenes sometimes slipping in where you least expect them and making you feel like you're watching something from an entirely different genre. Beyond that, the show takes chances. Shock value comes when you least expect it. Can't wait to see what they do next.

Breaking Bad
(2008)

Worth the hype
A brilliant show from start to finish. It's intelligent and character driven, displaying beautiful arcs in ways that often leave viewers feeling emotionally conflicted. It makes decisions that you convince yourself it won't make, ties together loose ends appropriately, and understands the importance of remaining true to characters. It would like be a full 10/10 if I didn't find Walt so unbearable.

Inconsistent But Fun
This is a show for easy viewing. It's self awareness is truly what saves it from itself and oft-overused jokes. Many characters are inconsistent, flat representations of singular character tropes, but that doesn't make them entirely unlikeable and doesn't apply to every character. The sixth season is tragically off the mark, after the show had been bought out by Amazon. Overall worth a casual watch for those who enjoy modern sitcoms.
