Beacon 23
(2023)

Good setting, bad story telling
This show is very appealing at first glance. A lighthouse in space. Very interesting concept. So many ideas flood my mind. I can't wait to meet/learn about the characters that will guide me into this world.

But there's a problem. EVERYTHING in this world(universe, i guess) is a black box mystery. The reason for a lighthouse in space, the characters and their motivations, the quest, the rocks(talisman). You end up asking yourself what is going on half the time. Why do I care for these people, who's the hero? Who's the villain? Why are they doing all this. Even glowing rocks have a mysterious purpose. I guess if you like knowing nearly nothing after 3 episodes. This is your type of show.

I'll try and revisit this show after the first season is complete. Black box story telling isn't interesting if everything is a black box.

Foundation: In Seldon's Shadow
(2023)
Episode 1, Season 2

Not your grandparent's Foundation
TV shows based on books rarely stay true to the source material. This show is no exception.

The story is good enough to watch, but I will wait until the whole season is out before I watch another episode. I like the visuals and the multiple visuals for each world. This universe feels vast. I do feel like Cleon's court/throne room is a little small for an individual of his stature. I guess they had to save on VFX for later in the season. Costumes seen on Trantor are colorful and grandiose. They look impractical and uncomfortable to wear.

I am not a fan of Cleon and Demerzel's friendship. It strays too far from the books and has me worried about their Role in the overall story of the Foundations.

I can't wait to watch it all after the season ends.

The Gentlemen
(2019)

The comeback
I was scared that this movie wouldn't be as good as the other cult classic made by Ritchie. After watching it twice, I can say it deserves a place along the others.

Can't wait to see where Ritchie takes us next.

Star Trek: Picard: Et in Arcadia Ego, Part 2
(2020)
Episode 10, Season 1

Fantasy or sci-fi
Finally, this season is over. This episode had all the things I dislike in this new Star Trek.

I hated : Magical science, huge plot holes, nearly everyone gets a relationship, so much more.

I liked : Data's uniform, Data's Picard uniform, nothing else.

I read all the reviews written before me. I get that some people like this show. Good on them, but it won't stop me thinking this line of Star Trek is a bad idea. It will kill the franchise. Whatever they think they are doing is heading them straight into cancellation.

I have decided to move on and no longer watch this show. I'll wait until I see positive reviews from sources I trust. Good luck.

Westworld: Parce Domine
(2020)
Episode 1, Season 3

There is still hope in Sci-Fi
During these trying time in the Sci-fi genre there are still a few gems and Westworld is one of them.

The new setting is interesting. I do however feel right at home. I'm hooked for a 3rd time.

The Expanse
(2015)

Best Sci-Fi on TV
This series is clearly the best space exploration science fiction series.

I dislike SyFy for cancelling it.

I like Amazon for picking it up. I like how the actors learned the show was picked up by Amazon. Look it up it's a good story. I like the characters, the plot, the CGI, the science, the creative writing, the hope within a dystopian(realistic) future.

May this show get a least 7 seasons and a great series finale that opens up even more shows within this amazing universe.

Doctor Who: The Timeless Children
(2020)
Episode 10, Season 12

Destined to be
I just wish that this new lore drop is actually a Moffat misdirect. But I know better.

I dislike this episode completely. Torture on children, pre-destined faith, breaking the most established rules that made this show good, weak writing

I like nothing in it. Not even the CGI.

Star Trek: Picard
(2020)

Simple review EDITED!
I erased my review from season 1 and 2. I'll say this, they both exist, but I prefer to ignore them entirely. Don't waste your time on them. Skip to season 3.

I changed my reviews rating to 9/10. But the 1/10 I removed is for season 1 and 2...

Season 3 of Picard is the best Star Trek that has been put to screen in recent years. Just WOW!

Thanks to the original cast for this gem. Thank you Terry Matalas and his team for putting this season together.

Star Trek: Picard: Broken Pieces
(2020)
Episode 8, Season 1

Star Trek?
Ok, where to start?

Useless swearing. Senseless violence. Dystopian everything. Everyone is linked, Fan service that serves ZERO purpose.

Cycle of genocide from AI/Cybernetic life. The most over used story in sci-fi.

I'm going to stop there.

Stop killing STAR TREK! PLEASE!
