The Mindy Project
(2012)

started off so well...
i LOVED the first couple of seasons of mindy... i had rated it a 9/10... then there were a couple of mediocre seasons that still were fine, but the last 2 were lame.

not funny, characters acting like caricatures of themselves, the same jokes... with extra weird right wing political moments thrown in here and there, characters added and taken away all over the place, and the final season - which i get was trying to wrap everything up tidily - was a rushed, predictable snooze-fest. i would rate the last 2 seasons a 3 or 4 out of 10.

so i'm balancing it out to a 6.

follow the advice - watch the early seasons then STOP. don't ruin it for yourself...

MindGamers
(2015)

style over substance
teetering between a 4 and a 5 for me; it's pretty, shallow, and confusing... weak plot built out of decent premise.

it tries for the mindbendy wow that was managed in films like inception, but misses considerably...

i feel like if you enjoyed "the cell" there's a chance you'll enjoy this... it is pretty, i'll give it that

Rings
(2017)

no real surprises... average
pretty standard, what i expected... would have given it a four but the ending edged it up a point, just.

it's not as good as the first one, but go in expecting similarly toned trash and you won't be overly disappointed.

have definitely seen worse

Split
(2016)

shame about the problematicness
mcavoy was great, everything was fine, would have been an easy seven pointer from me, except for the glaringly problematic portrayal of D.I.D. and mental health in general.

surely we're better than this?

entertaining enough if you can turn your brain off enough...
