GOOD FILM, now get this people a budget ! This is a hard film to review. I see the film as being constrained by the budget. There's considerable talent at work here behind the camera, but I can't shake the feeling this film suffers for having too many good ideas, but not the means to execute them.
For example the opening car chase scene, it's great and works.... but I can just imagine what the filmmakers were going for. I admire they "went for it", but some might argue why attempt a car chase when you don't have the budget for it? Still I give them props for trying.
I also have to give them props for coming up with a original antagonist. The filmmakers play with your expectations (in a good way) and I agree with the commentary in which they felt it was more disturbing to see a homicidal maniac in a costume as opposed to yet another disfigured monster.
In conclusion, I feel the filmmakers were on the right track. I recommend the film. I hope if there is a sequel (as inevitably most horror films have) they have a larger budget to work with.
